A lovely little site nr kendal,
Small camping area approx 4 or 5 pitches with hook up,
Small pond in front of tented area with lots of ducks to keep you company, sheltered corner next to reception / shop / bar,
Washing up area and toilets 2 min walk, very clean and chemical waste all in the same area.
Pretty site mostly caravans, friendly staff, nice bar if you fancy a wee drink,
You need to pay a £10 returnable payment to get in / out with your car for the security barrier,
Asda approx 4 miles away and kendal approx 6 miles away,
A good base to explore the area would recommend this site

This is a lovely quite peaceful site with really polite friendly staff, nothing to much trouble, all facilities sparklingly clean. Only stopped for one night on way south (very easy to reach from motorway) will certainly be back for a longer period in the future. The site is long and narrow and caravans are pitched on either side of the road with a canal feeder on one side and a small stream on the other there is also a duck pond at the entrance to the site so parents with children be aware, the toilet/shower block is half way up the road so pretty central. We stayed mid week so bar was not open so cant comment went for walk to adjacent hotel but at £3-90 for a pint of lager we did not stay to long. Overall would highly recommend this site

Great site. Very impressed. This site is easily found from the motorway, Despite being so close you are surrounded by hills with sheep and beautiful countryside.
The site is immaculately clean, the reception, on site bar, toilet block all spotless.
The grounds are very well maintained. It has a great duck pond! its great because the centre island with bushes and trees are lit up at night with fabulous solar lights in all different colours.
The owners are very friendly people as are the bar staff!. Will definitely return here.
My only one tiny criticism would be the toilet block/washing up area are not near to the camping area. Only a short walk but with a bowl full of dishes it gets quite heavy, but this didn't spoil our weekend.

Spent the weekend at Waters Edge, Crooklands. What a truly lovely site. The staff are so helpful and nothing seems too much trouble. The pitch we had was half way between the shower block and the bar and reception perfect. Lovely stream running behind our pitch and a river over the road from it. We really enjoyed a stroll at night. Its such a peaceful place so if you want a brilliant well looked after relaxing break I would really recommend you give this site a try. We will definitely be returning soon. We did not take any of our grandchildren with us so cannot comment on child friendliness and to be honest we didn't actually see any children all weekend although we did notice there is a childs play area

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at Waters Edge and we'll definitely go back.
The couple who run the site are really friendly and very accommodating, which we really appreciated as we have 3 boys, all under 6 years old, to keep happy!
The on-site shop seemed well stocked, we used it a couple of times for milk and some sweets for the kids but there was plenty more besides. If they don't stock what you need then Asda is a few miles up the road towards Kendal - just turn right out of the site and follow the road all the way to the first roundabout you come to and Asda is just off the roundabout.
The toilets in both the reception and the main wash block were immaculate, as were the showers and pot washing areas. Showers are free and there was plenty of hot water and no queues either.
There isn't a playground on the site but there is a duck pond right next to the tent pitches. My children loved this and thought it was hilarious when we had a duck in our tent one of the days! One thing to mention is that there's no barrier and a slight sloped edge to the duck pond so supervision of little children is essential as it would be very easy for an excited toddler to fall in.
We used the pool table, which is upstairs in the pub, a couple of times. We only bought a couple of diet cokes, which came in cans and were a bit steep at 90p, so I can't comment on prices, but the pub itself was nice.
The tent pitches were very worn, no grass at all on ours. I suppose after 6 months of use this season that might be expected. We've only been camping this year so I've nothing to judge it against from previous years. It didn't really affect us a we pitched on top of this so we didn't notice but our ground sheet was very, very dirty when we packed up and the rain we packed up in didn't help matters!
The site is just off the road side but ent I can honestly say we didn't really notice any traffic noise. There's the contant sound of rushing water (although you soon get used to it) from the canal feeder I think, behind the the tent pitches, so that drowns out most other sounds.
There's loads to do within a few miles of the site. Kendal has plenty of shops and a leisure centre, including swimming pool. There's a farm park with a giant maze made of corn crops - Lakeland Maze Farm Park -which is well worth a visit. Lake Windermere is about 16 miles away and the boats travel to various places, including an aquarium.
All in all I would really recommend this site and as I said at the start we are already planning on going back next year as long at the tariff doesn't increase (at least not too much!) as we paid £26. 50 per night for 5 of us in an 8 man tent and this didn't include electricity.

Immaculate site, well kept short cut grass,
located 2 mins from M6 yet tranquil spot by Peasey beck and lancaster canal main feeder. Bus links to Kirby lonsdale and Kendal.
Four tent pitches with lecky and a few bout all by picturesque duckpond with benches and stone barbies.
Quite a walk to toilets outside office hours (9-6). Secure barrier site with swipe card, (£10 deposit)Basic on site shop and bar, good walking area.
Two minutes to Crooklands hotel bar.
The site is mainly static vans and tourers but the tenters have the best spot(next to reception and bar)£15 a night for 2 with tent.

This is a family friendly site. Mainly for tourers but as a token gesture there are 4 tent pitches with electric. PLUS POINTS: Bar on site, duck pond and stream for kids to explore, fantastic base for jumping into the lakes and kendal about 6m away. MINUS POINTS: cost £43 for 2 nights not inc electric, the toilets are a long walk & lots of noise from M6.
The owners are great, very nice people and make you feel welcome, toilets were spotless and people generally have a tidy up with mop and cloth provided which shows a bit of consideration and manners (to be honest) for fellow campers. I would/will go back again as the plus points far outway the bad. Ps bbq's and seating set up already so you just need your tent!

Stayed on this site on a weekend when it was being used for the caravan club on a rally so the site was full. Very easy to get to from M6 literally 10mins away.
The entrance to the site comes up quick. Lovely clean site with nice hardstanding pitches, we backed onto the river, there's a large duck pond and lots of water it's very pretty.
There is a small bar on site with snooker table/lounge area upstairs with tv, nice for chilling out. The site has bbqs in the area around the pond which are for general use and these are located near the tent pitches which also have elec hookup.
There wasn't any road noise and I would recommend this site as it's a lovely base for walking and the lakes. Toilets and showers are clean and overall this is a credit to the owners.

We love this site and have been twice this season.
Hardstanding pitches. Clean toilets and free showers. Nice little duckpond with ducklings which the kids loved. The club house is cosy with a cheap pool table in the attic room, but wish it opened earlier! There is also a countryside walk if you carry on through a gate past the shower block. The couple who run the site are so helpful and welcoming. The pub literally next door to the site has a nice atmosphere. All this just 2 minutes from the M6.

Visited this site in our small campervan during August 2010; booked for 3 nights. The couple who manage this site are welcoming and really nice and helpful.
The site, on entry, looks very nice; good new reception building with very small shop and bar area. The green area behind this building has a pretty pond + ducks and the grassed area is where the tents are pitched.
The pitches for the caravans and motorhomes are on each side of a narrow 'roadway' which leads to the toilet/shower block (which was kept clean with plenty of hot water). There are also many static homes on the site. We felt that the caravans & motorhomes were pitched a bit close together - but would assume they are complying with the 'spacing rules'!
Convenient area to visit the Lake District (which was our aim) but, in our 5 years of camping, felt this was the smallest space around pitch to comfortably sit outside and really enjoy the camping experience. Considering it was a rural area, not a good 'strolling' area unless you don't mind walking alongside a busy main road. There is a short walk to a nearby church and across the road, a canal walk - and that's about it. We did visit the hotel bar nearby which was good and we had a meal there which was very good.
Used the bar on the site on our first night - quite a nice space which was sadly spoilt by a group of 3 campers who had the TV on blaring quite loudly! So we didn't stay after our first drink.
Although it might suit 'one nighters' it's nothing special for those who want a few days relaxing & camping. Would not return to this site.
