Pitches for tents are located at the front of what is primarily a caravan park. With only 4 camping pitches available, located within a small picnic area behind the bar / shop / reception we chose the best looking pitch from what looked like it had been a hard season for the ground.
The duck pond is a nice addition. Pitches are very close to it, found the ducks very tame.
The ground is full of stones and tree roots which made pitching quite difficult.
Toilets and showers were very clean and kept tidy. Showers were a little fiddly having to keep pressing for more water every 3 minutes or so. Nice hot water and steady flow though, quite roomy too.
The bin enclosure was messy and rubbish was spilling out of bins, nobody seemed to clear it up even after the binmen had emptied the dumpsters one morning.
Noise from the main road was quite an issue and the truck wash stop next door was quite noisy too. We didn't really enjoy a peaceful night under canvas but I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a problem for tourers or motorhomes.
Nice canal walk if you cross over the road. Some fresh eggs and jams for sale from a house along the lane was a lovely find!
Overall, we would not stay here again and would not recommend for tents.
Lovely site for tourers, as these seemed to be closer to the toilets and also further away from the busy roads.

This camp site is beautiful, set off road it has beautiful features including a lovely little duck pond.
My boyfriend and I went here this year for a weekend, and had a fantastic time. In the evenings we went into the bar for an hour or two, they even had a little quiz for charity. The people on the site are welcoming and friendly, we made friends straight away.
The facilities are lovely and clean, hot showers not too far away, what more do you need? There is a small shop on site which stocks the basics (such as bread for when you feed the ducks all of your bread, and run out).
The wardens of this site where lovely and friendly nothing was too much trouble. Cant wait to return to this site!

We found this site by chance and what a lovely place it is. The lady warden couldn't have been more helpful, what an asset she is to the site. The pitch was level and we had no trouble getting the tent pegs in, the children loved feeding the ducks and so did the adults.
The facilities were lovely and clean and the site was very quiet, the tent area is small and there are lots of statics but everyone made us feel very welcome, we will return.

What a lovely small and quiet site. Made friends with the ducks straight away. Pitches decent sizes, excellent showers and toilets,
Nice little walk to go on with your dog, lovely clean grounds and very near to motorway. Helpful wardens, bar prices average,
We will be coming back later in the year. A good base to travel around the lakes and parts of yorkshire. If you have little children the pond and streams could be a worry.

We stayed for one night at this site.
We chose this site purely because it was a midway stopping point close to the motorway on our way home.
I couldn't have made a better choice. The lady warden is very friendly and helpful on our arrival. The first pitch we were allocated was too short, but it was no problem changing to another.
The toilet block was spotless, even though it had rained and the site was a little muddy.
The bar was not open the evening we were there (Wednesday). The shop was small, with very limited stock. The warden said that next year it is hoped the owner will be closing the shop, and instead extending the bar into the shop space. There is shopping nearby.
The ducks were lovely. I was amazed how much my teenage son enjoyed feeding them. Aaah!
Whilst the pitches are small, and the site is long and narrow - it had a good friendly feel.
I would say it is not a place to relax if you have very young children. Because of the dangers of water. You should note, the stream and pond are unfenced, and the river is fast running.
We had a lovely stay - and will definitely be returning for a longer visit in the future.

Hi, just returned from 5 days at Waters Edge on our first camping trip for many years. As previous caravanners for 7 or 8 years followed by a few years of foreign beach holidays we decided to give good old britain and it's weather a go and bought a tent. Got to say this is a very very nice clean, quiet, well kept and reasonaly sheltered site. For me the whole thing is made by the lady warden whose name escapes me but whatever you wanted she did, nothing was any trouble and was most helpful and friendly at all times. We also have a largish 8 person tent and she accomodated us very well across two pitches and charged us a reasonable £ 25 per night for 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 cars.
We stayed Mon-Fri and the site wasn't overly busy, a lot of the units are privately owned and also it appeared that several touring vans are also used as weekend visits.
Location - only just off Jct 36 M6 on A65, ideal for an overnight stop on way North or South, although if only staying 1 night you will likely want to come back. We found this very good for anywhere in the lakes and did keswick in 35 mins, Winderemere in 20 mins and Dalton Wildlife Park near Barrow in 45mins. Overall very good location for Lakes and/or Dales.
Site Layout - fairly small, long thin site with toilet block halfway down the site. The site has a single track road along it's length with caravan pitches either side bordered by a fast flowing canal feeder on one side and a large stream/river the other. Whilst not that deep or wide both stretches of water would be dangerous for toddlers and there are plenty of signs up. If you walk through the gate at the end of the site there is a very nice walk into the woods and also for those big kids a rope swing across the stream near a small dam(yes I did have a go ! much to the kids amazement)Te site houses a mix of approx 15-20 static caravans along one edge, all vans were nicely kept and appeared to be privately owned. In between there were 28 touring van pitches staggered opposite each other along the roadway, all hard standing for vans and awnings.
Tent Pitches - only 5, all just inside the site at the back of the Reception/Bar/Shop/TV Lounge building. Pitches are around the edge of a duck pond with resident troup of friendly ducks and ducklings. Pitches are flat, neatly cropped and very nicely kept, also we had lots of torrential rain and at no time did it even appear to get muddy at all so drainage must be good. There are dustbins, water points, EHU, picnic benches and brick built barbecues for use by the tent pitches. The grass area is big enough for the kids to play boules etc without annoying anyone. Another note - once you unload your car you park away from the pitches. Just on noise the stream at the back of the tents is fast flowing and you can hear this on a night when nodding off, we found it quite relaxing but be aware. You do hear the motorway but only very very faintly in the distance and nothing to worry about.
Facilities - Bar not open every night but used it once and very friendly the Warden acts as landlord and a good selection of drinks available and at reasonable prices. Nice pool table and dartboard in a separate room (40p per game for Pool)and a TV lounge upstairs with sofas in. The atmosphere obviously depended upon how many people were in there and largely up to to you to start talking with others which didn't take long. Shop - has all the basics and offered pre-ordered newspapers and freezing of coolbox packs.
Toilets - very well kept and clean, 2 showers and 2 wash cubicles plus 3 open wash sinks in the gents, not the most modern but as I say very clean and free showers. Sockets for hairdyers and shavers. Never queued all week.
Wash-up areas - 3 sinks under shelter very hot water and deep sinks, again well kept.
Places to eat - Punch Bowl Inn, turn right out of the site towards Kendal, go through Crooklands and Endmoor and the pub is on your left hand side they do a £5 per main course off the specials board plus the top 8 mains off the menu between 6-8pm Mon -Thurs, also good selection of other meals including kids menu and sweets and beers ! Approx £ 45-£50 for 6 of us with a drink, good value.
Gateway Inn - up to your left off the A591/A590 roundabout near kendal, large pub we used on the first night, bit pricier but very nice food with large selection on the menu plus specials. Approx £ 90 for 6 of us.
JUMBO Chinese takeaway - In Milnthorpe 10 mins drive from site on the A6 South west of Keswick, turn right out of site then left opposite Crooklands hotel and follow route to Milnthorpe usual selection on the menu and got to say we brought it back to the site and it was still piping hot. Approx £35 for 6 of us and too much food. The Site has leaflets for a different Chinese in Milnthorpe with a restaurant to eat-in, however on arrival it didn't look the best so I asked one of the locals on the car park in Milnthorpe and they said Jumbos was the far better. Usually a good method of finding eateries.
Other things of note - turn right out of the site - Crooklands Hotel, we didn't use but others did and said food was very nice. Carry on into Endmoor village - nice bakery, then follow road through Endmoor for approx 10 mins and ASDA is on your right.
South Lakes Wildlife Park at Dalton in Furness - worth the 45 mins drive, more a conservation park than a typical zoo, lots of informative talks about the different species they keep and importmat messages about conservation, our kids are 17 and 13 and really enjoyed it. You got very clsoe to the animals and feeding time for the Tigers and Lions was worth the admission alone. Cost was £ 11.50 per adult and £ 8 for kids over 6 I think. No family tickets were available, nice picnic areas both outdoor and indoor.

We have used this site several times now and we like it. The setting is lovely and the lady who looks after the site is lovely and friendly. It is quite a small site and the pitches are not overly big, but we only have a small van, so that is fine for us. There is a small shop and bar at reception, so there is everything you need.
The toilets and showers are more than adequate for the site, even at bank holidays.
The surrounding countryside (the Lake District) is beautiful and easily accessible. In the other direction the beaches of Morecambe are not far away. The site is conveniently situated to be away from traffic noise, but within easy reach of the main traffic routes eg the M6. There is a large Asda supermarket on the main road into Kendal.
If you like other people to do the cooking, there is a restaurant round the corner and a newly opened tea shop and art gallery in the other direction.

This site looks idyllic from the website, I was really excited about going. It is quite nice, but didn't quite live up to the pictures.
There are only 4 tent pitches, all around the pond. We were pitched looking directly into the bar which meant no sense of privacy. The level of water in the pond was low meaning it was stagnating=smell and insects.
The toilet block and washing up area was a fair walk-why are they always furthest from the tents? lol!
There is a lot of water on/around this site. An open river either side and the pond in the middle so care would have to be taken with children.
There was also a lot of noise. There was some kind of lorry depot at the entrance with noise like a dustbin lorry a lot of the time.
The location is good for the lakes though and the facilities were clean and ample and the owners friendly. The bedding plants hadn't quite got going when we were there, but I imagine it would be a beautiful display in summer.

This was one of the best sites we have been to
We got in at the last minute and the weather was not that good but the campsite was spotless
You could not ask for anything better, rivers, trees, flowers, bbqs and a pub on site. The site is central to Lancaster, Morecambe and Kendal
