We visited this site over the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is attached to a small dairy farm and is immaculately kept. The two farmers who run the site and farm were both friendly and helpful and were happy to give us a tour of the milking facilities. Toilets and showers were always clean with plenty of hot water. Showers are 20p for 3mins.
Pitching area is spacious and well maintained with mainly level pitches with good views over the fells and the river estuary.
As others have said there are not many shops nearby, there is a shop in the village but we did not get there when it was open as it was bank holiday weekend.
The nearby pub, The Brown Cow (about a mile away), was a really friendly place where we were made to feel very welcome by the Landlord and locals alike. Food was good as were the selection of real ales.
In summary, lovely little site and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Very nice owners the whole family take time out to be friendly and helpful. They try to accommodate everybody
Its a working dairy farm with about 30 cows and some calves
Its like stepping back in time to a time that was not in a rush or worried about much
Give it a try its good but don't expect swimming pool and club houses their is non

We have just spent 5 nights 6 days at Newbiggin farm and I can honestly say I was more than surprised at the place. We had a a very warm welcome by Colin and his dad Bill and a very smiley border collie called Bess who made my kids day! The field we stayed on was basic but has clean drinking water was very protected and the toilet and shower facilities were a lot closer than on some big sites I have been on.
Our 'hosts' were more than happy for us to trapse around the farmyard and even happier to take the kids milking and show them the calves which my daughter had taken a liking to!
There isnt that many facilities that close by but a few miles drive and its all there. The beach is in within walking distance and at a pace you can get there in 20 mins and is well worth the walk.
Unfortunately for us after having 3 perfect sunny days the weather closed in and they had a months rainfall in 24 hrs and we were flooded out of our tents, the 2 roads in were both flooded. But thankfully for us Colin had been keeping an eye out for us and drove through the floods in his big landrover so we could get back to the tents and then took us back to the farmhouse to dry out.
I cant praise this place enough but I'm sure me saying we are going back next year says it all really

The last time we visited this site was 6 years ago and we found it good then and excellent now. Since our last visit the ever helpful owners have increased the number of showers and toilets available and have added a rally field. The location is excellent with terrific views over the estuary.
There is plenty here for walkers, twitchers, cyclists and peace lovers. The local inn has also changed hands since we last visited and now offers a much improved menu and keeps quality real ales. What more could you want?
Well it is a bit of a trek to a decent sized shop and the road links around and about are not the best but this just adds to the charm for us.
The biggest asset of the site though are its owners who take a genuine Interest in ensuring you enjoy your stay without being intrusive.

A great little site with a wonderfully warm welcome. Lovely views, lovely people, great value, nice hot showers, no queues. What more could you want
The toilets and showers are rustically located in one of the farm buildings. Showers are on 20p meters (you can put multiple coins in) and nice and clean. Toilet roll checked and restocked regularly. Very relaxing and friendly.
The site was quite busy and we met some lovely people. No complaints from anyone.
You can buy eggs which are also great value and delicious - so long as the hens can keep up with demand!

Just returned from a long weekend stay at the Farm. Wonderful value, it was just what we wanted a quiet site at which to unwind and relax.
We really enjoyed watching the tidal comings and goings and walking over to the nature reserve (word of caution there, there is a railway bridge over the road which only has clearance of 10'3" so you need to approach the site from the right end of the road if you need more room for your vehicle, also at high tide the road becomes impassible).
The farmers were, as reported in other reviews, very friendly and were around twice a day to check everything was okay.
The showers, though updated, are basic. However at 20p for approx 3mins they did the job with lots of hot water. We never had to queue though the site was busy. And there was always soap, hot water and hand drying. There is also a coin operated hair-dryer though we didn't use it.
At £9 a night for 2 adults 1 child and dog with EHU, it cannot be faulted.
PS the Farmer sells fresh free range eggs which were delicious, the absolute yellow a proper egg should be! A treat not to be missed.
We will be returning.

The site is in a quiet area with lovely views. We stayed in the basic field and the farmer comes to speak to you in a evening and morning, very helpful and friendly.
The pitch cost us £7 per night for 5 of us in our 6 man tent. There was plenty of space for ball games etc and all was quiet at night.
The toilet /showers are basic but it was what we wanted and they are clean and fresh. There are nice walks from the campsite and there is a nice beach which we enjoyed a few hours of kite flying at.
We enjoyed a ice cream from a ice cream van that drove to the beach too.
We will certainly use this hidden gem again and look forward to it, basic camping at it's best.

Just been back to Newbiggin Farm. Glorious weather, little breezy! Colin has improved the wash room facilities since we were last there, only finished day before we arrived.
There are now 3 shower cubicles, two of which have toilets. Again, the warmth of the welcome most appreciated. Most evenings Colin and his father tour the site chatting to campers, even remember your plans for the day and ask about them that evening.
Not much more to add about the area.Covered most of it on last yrs write up. Just to mention, though, the air museum at Haverigg is no more, signs are still up, just ignore, it went into receivership 5 months ago!
Will be back if not this year definitely next! Love site and area

Well just had 5 nights at Newbiggin Farm and will definitely go back again. Despite a sudden family bereavement Colin and his family were excellent hosts.
A real pleasure to visit this lovely site. The site was clean if rather rustic, (which just added to the charm in my opinion)
Whitehaven and Millom within easy driving distance. For the kids there's the la'al ratty train at Ravenglass and Muncaster castle, both approximately 3 miles away.

We stayed 3 nights at this site and can compliment the owners on a well kept field, the owners could not do enough for you they were very helpful and friendly.
Fishing is great in the area, the estuary is within site and plenty of other venues available.
The butchers is a walk away for his world famous Cumberland sausage, The brown cow is a mile away where a nice meal can be enjoyed.
On the whole an enjoyable break
The showers are in the process of being upgraded but it did not affect the use of the one shower unit available, we look forward to our next break there.
