We only stayed the one night as we were meeting our friends who were here 4 or 5 days earlier.
Lovely site, soft green (not brown) grass, good views and the owners were very pleasant indeed.
The field opposite owners house only had one party staying whilst the other field (the smaller) was for the camping & caravan owners club – although not members we were given permission to stay. The smaller of the two fields runs along the lane, which was actually quiet.
The toilet/shower (down the lane, less than a minutes walk) was very clean with the required paper and soap at all times – shower was 20p for about 2 and half minutes which was fine.
I have nothing negative to say (my wife said a 2nd toilet/shower would have been useful – she had to wait a few minutes on two occasions, thankfully I timed it right)
We would certainly return to this site and thank you to the owners who made us feel most welcome.

The farmer (Colin) and his father (Bill) went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. Bill even took our 5 yr old around the milking shed, let him feed the calves and them let him move the cows out to their field after milking. You can imagine how chuffed he is!
The surrounding area is lovely, great views and walks. The beaches were clean and on the whole empty. There is a nice little basic beach if you drive a couple of miles along past the farm. Great in evening for letting the dogs have a run / swim.
Haverigg beach is good. The harbour at Whitehaven is worth a look too! Roads are mainly deserted, central lakes is only 1 hr away by road. Went for ride on La'al Ratty, which was great for little ones. Plenty of food shops around, tescos in Millom (10miles) and everything else in Whitehaven (30 miles)
One toilet and shower no problem and only had to wait occasionally, both were immaculate. Cant wait to go back. And yes the dog, Bess, actually grins at you waiting for a pat!

A cracking little site in a great position, can be a bit exposed at times but that's the price of being near the sea.
There are 2 fields one with EHU with power for 6. The fields are almost flat & the one we were in well mown.
Tap & chemical disposal in the EHU field & a tap just outside the gate in the other field.
There is only one shower, sink, toilet but the water is always hot & the showers are 20p but you can put more than one coin in at a time. The shower is in the farm yard which is a working dairy farm & as you enter the yard a sheep dog comes running up looking for fuss & it literally grins at you showing its teeth in a big toothy grin, really weird.
Colin was saying they are looking at getting a couple of portaloos to put in the fields which will help on wet nights.
Colin & William come round every evening to make sure that everything is OK & to chat if you are about.
There is a village a few hundred yards up the lane with a sell every thing shop that makes their own sausages, you have to try them.
Just past the shop is a real ale pub which is open all day, unusual for the smaller pubs round here & the food is excellent. So is the juke box.
As stated it is a working farm so twice a day the lady's come in for milking & you get a bit of a whiff now & again but its the country & its not a problem.
Millom is a 10 minute drive with every thing you need there.
The RAF museum at Millom is well worth a look, from the out side it just looks like a hut but when you get inside it just keeps going & has loads of things to see, its also where the Invader bomber featured on Timeteam was brought to with a photo record of the recovery.
In the other direction is Whitehaven a bit further but a bigger town & if you like fishing the breakwater is a good venue especially for Mackerel in summer.
For £8 a night with EHU I cant fault this site, another toilet would help early on in the morning when its busy but we had the field to our selves for 5 of the 8 nights we stayed & we are going back in September.
There is nothing for children except their own imagination & farms can be dangerous but you are 2 minutes from a nature reserve & 5 minutes from a beach which I had to myself when I fished it, & yes I did catch.

Just arrived home from a lovely bank holiday weekend at this site. Owners Colin and his dad are some of the most helpful friendly people I have ever met whilst caravanning.
The site is very quiet with beautiful views over the estuary and has all you need water, electric, waste disposal and a shower and toilet in the farm yard which is spotless.
The village only has a butchers shop which sells other basics but would recommend taking everything you need with you. The old brown cow pub is about 3/4 mile away and serves food and is dog friendly.
If you like walking it is a lovely walk to Muncaster castle about 6 or 7 miles there and back. We will definitely be returning the next time we go up that way again.

A fabulous little site that we all loved, a real working dairy farm with dogs and cats that would have kept the children entertained all day. The place had bags of character, the toilet block was a converted barn and was always clean.
The nightly rate was inexpensive and the showers were a bargain at 20p.
Everything we expected and a bit more.
Location was ideal.
Definitely worth a visit.

Very helpful, friendly owners. The shower/toilet very clean (even being cleaned at 9pm) Farm dog and cats well-cared for which is nice to see.
They opened up a field especially for those of us attending a local dog agility event so we had a large area in which to exercise our dogs without any worries. There were receptacles supplied for recycling which shows a responsible attitude.
Only problem was waiting to use WC when someone in the shower it all being in one room.

Excellent little camp site. Only stayed for one night, but the view over the Esk and the railway bridge, as well as the long distance site of Scafell were stunning. Positioned along a quiet country road which leads to a beach and eventually Bootle. Persevere along the side of the MOD property for some stunning sunsets. The owner and his Father were very welcoming and amicable, and some great stories and if the hens are in the mood eggs too. Quiet place to stay, not much on site, except a single toilet and shower, which are in the same room, (don't ask what this room was previously!) Definitely worth a visit again. And very reasonably priced.

Fantastic site. Visited 1st in 2008 Aug bank holiday and visited again this May bank holiday because we love it so much. £15 for the 3 nights is fantastic.
Lots of flat places to pitch and the farmer and son are lovely. They like to talk to you and ask about your stay. Makes you feel really welcome. They even remembered us from our August stay.
Bacon and sausage from Richard Woodhalls is a must. One of the nicest bacon sarnies I have ever had.
We had a meal in the pub which although not fantastic it was nice to have the option after pitching the tent.
La'al ratty and Muncaster Castle are close by and South Lakes Animal Park is a fantastic day out.
Don't forget your 20p's for the shower! 2 is enough for a good shower.

When we got there, we could not believe the viwws we had, they were great views, we went for 4 nights in June 2009 and on the 1st night we was the only people there.
The owner's were very nice people, and kept the place very clean and tidy.
The toilet and shower is on the farm, you have to go out the main gate and down the lane to the farm, this is the only problem we found with the site, because if you have kids you will have to take them as the lane is very very thin, just room for 1 car. The shower takes 20p and it is very nice shower and can be adjusted to the right tempature.
It was nice of Mr C to let me watch the cows gets milked and shown me how it all works. Thanks for that Mr C. He sell's fresh free range egg's as well.
Their is a pub close by and it was always full, the shop is ok and has most of your daily thing's that you need.
The beach is 2.9 mile's away, not much but is very nice, there is a lot of things you can do there, like take a ride on the steam train, munca castle and gardens and the owl's are all here. We went a bit early as everything happens in the afternoon, 12ish.
This is a must go site again. This is a Camping and Caravanning Club Site and he does let non members on and are welcome.

We chose to spend 4 nights here during some of the coldest weather this winter (1st-5th Jan.) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Access from the main road is down a narrow/very narrow road, which is fine as long as you treat it with respect, and the warm welcome and amazing views on arrival more than make up for it.
The 16 amp. Hook-up ensured that we were able to crank up the electric heating to stay warm and as we were the only visitors for the first 3 nights it was like having our own private site - the dog thought it was great having his own field to play in!
There's lots of easy walking round about, as well as the more challenging Lake District stuff. The sight of herons, Canada geese and other water birds in the estuary, just a few minutes walk away, with frost and ice all around, was magical.
There is a very good 'sells everything' shop with a recommended café above at Gosforth (about 6 miles away) but it would be a good idea to bring back-up supplies with you as the nearest big supermarkets are some distance away, at Whitehaven.
I imagine that the field could become muddy and difficult to tow off in wet weather, and the noise of the trains crossing the viaduct is easily audible, but otherwise there was hardly a sound and it was a perfect 'get away from it all' break, and a bargain at £8 a night incl. Electric.
