Very nice location with views across the Eske and a short walk to dunes, nature reserve and beach; a bird-lover's dream. Muncaster Castle a good visit on a rainy day and Ravenglass about ten to fifteen minute drive away. Friendly site owners and very accommodating. Dog owners welcomed - and farm has working dogs themselves, one of them gets so happy to see you that she actually smiles!
Clean, warm shower / toilet area -located within the farm buildings, just a hop away from the site. 20p's for the shower, farmer always had a plentiful supply if we forgot. Basic but enough for us, although a hairdryer or plug for one would have been extra useful.
Pub a short walk away selling delicious hot food and warm, friendly atmosphere. We popped up to Cumbria for a long weekend chill-out and that's exactly what we got. Would definitely recommend to others wanting peace and quiet to rejuvenate amongst truly friendly people. Will be returning soon.

An excellent site as long as you understand that it is fairly basic - no showers yet, just a toilet that you walk up the road and through the farmyard to reach. It's clean, with paper, soap, towel and hot water. The owner/farmer and his dad are very friendly and helpful, the site is quiet, the views are wonderful and there are lots of things to do within easy reach. Exceptional value.

May 2005 Excellent, friendly, peaceful, and as previous reviewer said, small, but lovely views.
However they are wrong about lack of shops there is the world famous Woodall Sausage makers shop less than 1 mile away which also sells all the basics, and an excellent everything grocer and newsagent, less than five miles away in each direction. So not so remote after all!

29/30th May 2004 BH What a lovely campsite! The farmer was really nice and helpful, even let the kids watch him milk the cows!!
This campsite consists of a field with a tap and chemical disposal unit for your own toilets. The toilet and sink is situated a few mins walk away in the farmyard, very nice and new, its even got toilet paper, soap and towel in there. There's an electic hook up if you need it. The only down side was that there was no shops within 7/8 miles so take everything you need with you. The farmer may even sell you a few eggs or milk if you ask nicely. The estuary is across the road, but the beach is quite a walk away, nice walk if its a good day, you walk along a nature reserve to get there. And to top it all off it only cost us £2 a tent!!!
