Just returned from Greenwoods Campsite after spending a week with my two grandchildren aged 9 and 10 years.
The site is really lovely and very well looked after. Mike the owner could not have been any nicer to us and helped us to get set up and he managed to guide us to the local attractions. He was always there if we required any information.
Just a short drive in any direction we found something new to do each day. I loved the area.
The toilet and washing area was just like being at home and so clean. Mike you do a great job. Well done.
I will surely return to this site again and spend more time there.

Stayed for 3 nights on the small but well situated campsite for local attractions - Wells-next-sea & Holkham beaches, Sandringham, Hunstanton etc. As a previous reviewer stated, there are quite strict campsite rules (which I appreciate are to ensure the enjoyment of the campsite by all users) however, I would say that these rules made it quite an uncomfortable atmosphere at times if you are aged 2 - 20 years. No ball games or playing around on the campsite(except badminton), no playing in the woods (you have to keep on the path) and children under 13 have to be accompanied to the toilet block (try explaining that to a 10 year old boy!).
The site was well kept and the toilet block spacious and free of charge. There is one wash-up sink in an inside utility room which also houses the (free) fridge freezer. The site was not full so we never had to queue for showers or toilets. I would recommend this site if you either don't have children or they are very in-active and don't want to play outside at all. The planes did appear for a while at teatime but the children enjoyed watching them and the noise did not spoil our stay. You can hear the main road noise if you listen out for it but again this did not spoil our enjoyment. There is a lovely circular walk from the campsite past a quaint church.

Welcome to Fort Greenwood. Following an enthusiastic welcome and complete briefing by Mike the owner you are let loose to enjoy this sensibly priced campsite - assuming you stick to the copious site rules.
The site is in a pleasant location close to Fakenham where there are many services. The toilet facilities were clean, it was a shame however that the campsite had not thought to vacuum clean the spiders and webs out of the facilities, it did let them down somewhat.
We settled in ready to have a quiet evening in respect of those campers needing an early night. As the clock passed 9. 30 you could have rehersed a Brass Band outside the tent without fear of disturbing the rest of the campers as they would not have heard it over the scream of F14 Tomcat engines on full afterburners. We laughed about it for a while. Until the small arms fire started. Beirut came to mind.
If you need to stay in the locality I understand the area is not a war zone every day, in fact other nights were silent. The campsite is well ordered and the owner a pleasant helpful chap. I think we would use it again.
Dont miss your chance to walk to the local church. It was charming.

Stayed here in early June just me and my wife, we are both in our 40's and this is first site we'd ever visited as we are new campers. Facilities were very good clean and tidy and the owner Mike was very nice and also helpful, even helped me pitch the tent on arrival. A very peaceful site next to a working farm, surrounded by lovely countryside. Its also a great base for visiting other areas such as Hunstanton and Cromer. Site is on a slight slope which helps with drainage when its wet which it was on our first day. Very reasonable pitching rates and would gladly stay there again.

Just returned fom this site, very quiet, we were the only tent, there are about 12 seasonal caravans and approx 10 tent pitches. Electric hook-ups on all pitches if required.
Clean toilet and shower block, only two showers in gents and ladies, but not a problem when site is quiet. Fridge/freezer in wash up area for campers use.
Mike the owner is very helpful, will help with putting up tent if required, gave us useful information about local attractions and gave us daily weather reports, also keeps an eye on guy ropes if windy and you are out for the day.
RAF training takes place Tuesday night, can be extremely noisy for about 3 hours, but pre-warned so not too much of a shock.
Small farm shop and cafe about 5 mins walk from site, nearest pub about 5 mins drive away. There is no play area for children. The Crown in Colkirk does superb meals.
Would definitely go back to this site.

Camped at site for 6 days end of May. Compact, quiet and well maintained facilities. Warm welcome on arrival from Mike the site owner.
Toilet block and showers extremely clean and adequate hot water. Only one mirror between three sinks at both male and female areas - could be a problem at busy times. One sink in washing up area but again very clean. Big fridge freezer also available.
We were the only campers for part of the week so were really spoilt by the peace and quiet. As noted in previous reviews, Mike is very helpful, offering help with pitching on arrival, stays on site all day and came to our rescue when our tent was damaged during gale force winds on 2nd day.
The Scullthorpe Mill is an excellent pub within short driving distance (5 minutes) where you can expect a warm welcome and excellent food. Would be wise to book to avoid disappointment (Mike was happy to ring on our behalf).
Would recommend visiting Norwich camping and leisure which is about an hour's drive, but stocks absolutely everything you can imagine for camping and also has a nice cafe.
Really enjoyed boat trip on norfolk broads - half day trip on picnic boat, wonderful. Nearest town is Fakenham which is about 4 miles away. It has a Tesco (smallish), Morrissons and Lidl and lots of other smaller shops in town centre.
The site is an excellent base for exploring North Norfolk. Would highly recommend this site to anyone wanting a peaceful, comfortable and friendly camping experience.
Will definitely return.

Just got back stayed 4 nights. Brilliant site, Mike looks after everybody, even checked the tent pegs when it was windy. We took Smartarse our Smart car and visited Sheringham, Wells, Hunstanton and Holkham.
So much to see in 25 mile radius. ood bus service runs from end of road.Toilets nice and clean, showers hot and free. Lovely walks round the site, Mike will give you all the info as previously said nothing is too much trouble for him. Ground is very hard so rock pegs are needed for awning( Mike will lend you some if needed). Will be back again soon for longer as so much to see and do round about

We arrived at this site to be greeted by Mike the site owner, I can only say that I was bowled over by the friendly and helpful way he welcomed us, it is like nothing is too much trouble for him to help visitors.
When I was looking for a place to stay I must admit that at first I was a little put off after looking at some of the pictures shown on the web site, but on arriving I was pleasantly surprised to see a well kept site with super large pitches and a very well kept grass area, in fact I would say it was more of a well kept lawn than the normal grass field so often given by other sites.
The Toilets were always clean, warm, well stocked and secure with hot water no matter what time you go in for a shower or wash. In the short time we were there I can honestly say that on leaving I considered Mike to be more of a friend than just another camp site owner.
Would we go back? YES, time and time again and look forward to the next visit we make.

My wife and I stayed on this site with our dog in September 2010, this was our first camping trip in Norfolk as we usually go to Cornwall. Greenwoods is a fabulous site which is very well run and exceptionally friendly, showers are great as is the washing up room and use or a fridge makes a refreshing change.
There is a never ending list of things to do and wonderful places to visit all within a short distance of the site. Having the woodland next to the site was interesting especially as most nights we lay in bed listening to the wonderful sound of an owl, fantastic. Considering there is a main road just around the corner traffic noise is zero.
My last comment has to be about the owner Mike, he is a very nice chap always willing to help and always on call. We left a line of washing out on one occasion and went out for the day and there was a heavy shower of rain, when we returned to the site we found Mike had put the washing in our tent so it didn't get soaked, this was so thoughtful.
We are going back to Greenwoods at the end of June 2011 for 2 weeks and can't wait. I would highly recommend this site and the area. Keep up the good work Mike.

We had a really peaceful short stay here. Echo what others have said about Mike - very helpful - runs things with a firm hand but a friendly smile, just what's needed! Notices everywhere telling you what's what but that way everyone knows. If you don't like it, take your chance elsewhere.
This is site if you like peace, quiet, space, wildlife. The facilities were all excellent and well maintained although we were the only tent there (other caravans).
You need transport of some sort if you want to get anywhere, though there is one nice walk - ask Mike for directions.
As others have said, the only downside was Biggles & his friends all one evening (sorry, showing my age there, planes overhead) but that couldn't be helped.
Definitely returning.
