Well you can't fault this site, the pitch size, the view & the peace and quiet, it is an excellent base to tour the brecons.

But the 'shop' is not actually on the site, it's next door and disguised as a petrol station, although it had everything you could need, papers, milkfresh local eggs etc, etc.

The Bar/restaurant was 'lacking' atmosphere and good beer, and customers! The food was ok-ish, but had no connection to the campsite, thus was actually shut 2 days a week!

The quiz night for one night only, was amazing every-one from the campsite took-over the bar and good fun was had by all, and all free!

Swimming pool was very small and cold according to the kids using it-Not ours!

The showers could use a floor squeegee for the guests to use, as often they would be swimming in water, and some shelving in the shower cubicles would be good. Although we would definitely recommend this site. If you go into town try the canal cruise, it is worth every penny

We're Dutch, and the brynich caravan club advised us to go to Bishop's Meadow (the brynich caravan club would be too expensive, since we're no members of the caravan club)

Bishops Meadows is a clean and beautiful campsite. There are a lot of standing (non touring) caravans (part rental) but they are on a separate terrain.

The touring place (and tent meadow) are very tidy. The owner (?) loves to keep the lawns tidy, which reflects on the campsite. It is near Brecon (5 min. Drive to supermarket)and the Brecon Beacons are in sight!

In the weekend the site is busier than in the week, but it is quiet after 23. 00 hours.

I have visited this site many times, the facilities are excellent.

Access is off the main road is well marked & an easy wide sweep, you pay a deposit for a dongle which allows access through the barrier, onto wide access road around site (all have low traffic calming, which means safe for children/animals)

The grassed areas for tents are mainly flat & well kept, BBQ's are allowed but must be kept off the grass(couple of bricks or free standing)

The toilet/shower blocks are well maintained & cleaned twice a day, more in peak season, showers are hot & free.

The swimming pool is heated & very clean.

Brecon is a 10 min walk & has a large Morrisons, Aldi, CO. OP plus many smaller shops.

I would recommend this site as the owners are most helpful and really nice place to shed the stress of today.

We stayed at Bishops Meadow for 3 nights over spring bank holiday. The site is easily accessible and well signposted. We had a very warm welcome from reception and were then taken to our pitch. Note the access to the touring caravan area is narrow.

The hardstanding pitches are well laid out and the views are very good. Toilets/showers were relatively new and kept clean.

There was a playground for children, swimming pool and also a dog walk near to the touring field. The site is close to Brecon for shops/pubs etc. And there is a bar/restaurant on site.

Caravans and tents are put together in one field and whilst the caravan pitches are well spaced the same cannot be said for the tents - so many were crammed into a small space with cars parked wherever they could be fitted. Rather than playing in the park children tended to run between the cars and caravans on pitches and this was further endorsed by the warden travelling through people's pitches on his golf buggy rather than sticking to the roads.

All in all this could be a very good site and perhaps we only saw the worst of it because it was so busy on a bank holiday weekend. As I've stated the toilets were clean and relatively new, however with only 4 showers and a site fit to bursting - I would suggest that the facilities could not meet the demand of the sheer number of people on site.

At £25 per night we will not be going back to this site - there are other sites in the local area which a far superior offering than Bishops Meadow.

We have a tent with no electric hook up, the site was clean and the field we stayed on was spacious.

There is a small park and also a pool at the site but this was not in use at the time of us being there. Our little ones loved the park

The showers were clean and also they had a bath and a drying room you had to get the key for.

Short trip into Brecon town

We will most definitely be visiting again

A well laid out and very clean site, closed to the town of Brecon. Good dog walking area, accessed from the touring fields and if you wish you can then follow a much larger circuit on public footpaths looping around back to the site.

Showers and toilets are in good order 7/10. Very tight access to the touring area but once your in the sites are level and with great views over to Pen Y Fan and Brecons.

Only thing and bearing in mind the season is drawing to a close-- £24 night is bit steep and there are similar even better sites in the area for a more realistic figure.

Last minute booking, only second time out with the caravan ( Swift Challenger 580 ) Large site, good distance to town although we didn't actually get around to walking in. Didn't find too many great pubs etc in Brecon itself so don't expect a gastro weekend.

Trip to the Borderers Museum was excellent though and highly recommended. Found site pretty much as described but be aware that the electric kept tripping,a few times a day us & our neighbours had to keep re-setting at source.

Also - possibly because was bank hol -the loos and showers were not overly tidy, looked like only cleaned once a day so quite a bit of mud, grass & loo roll about. Other than this a good site. Beer not cheap in bar,be warned

Fab site immaculate grounds with stunning views.

After days of rain, ground still perfect as site drains particularly well. Fab friendly owners very well organised with great facilities and very secure for children.

Positives

Pool fab, children loved it perfect position. Nice playground/park, Texaco 2 mins walk with very friendly owners very cheap and they stock everything. Great Morrisons a mile away in Brecon, loads to do in the area, campsite reception sells lots of camping things like pegs, toilet bloo etc etc.Facilities faired very well on a full site on August bank holiday loads of toilet paper soap etc etc

Negatives

Push button showers ( I personally hate them)cold water to wash up after the morning and teatime washing up rush (probably to be expected so wait a few hours after these key times) pitches very wide but close at the back so could feel cramped it you like space

Only very very slight moans and I would definitely return and recommend we all really enjoyed it and will be back next year

Top class site the 5 star rating says it all. A short drive into brecon town or a 15 minute walk from this site if you need to leave here though we did not need too. There is a small pool, restaurant and large bar on site with very good showers and clean toilets.

The electric pitches are spacious which you are taken to by the friendly warden who give you any advice you need. The ground are spotless and the chemical disposable and dish washing area are clean, there is a laundry room with iron an ironing board and there is a room for a bath too.

The kids loved the playground which was outside our caravan, there is a designated dog walking are at the back of the site. We are going to go back whenever we can but it is advisable to book in advance

The staff were friendly and helpful. Pitches are 30ft by 30ft with an electric hook up, plenty of space for our large tent, plenty of room to sit outside it and to park our car. For our family tent it cost £20.00 per night plus £3.00 a night on top for electric.

Site was clean and had a barrier which automatically opened as you went out but that you needed a sensor key to come in. This made it feel secure. The sensor keys are £10.00 deposit, which is to stop you forgetting you have them and driving home with them and I think that's fair enough.

There are two toilet / shower / sink blocks both clean and tidy. The showers are push button showers (no 20p meter nonsense lol) with wooden seating and hooks for clothes and plenty of hot water.

There is a laundry room and this is where we found the freezer for refreezing our ice packs. There is an outdoor, partly sheltered sink point for dishwashing and drinking water and a chemical toilet disposal point.

A major plus with this site was the pool which we all enjoyed. It is clean and well looked after and open from 10.00am to 7.00pm. I'm not sure if it is heated but it was cold when I got in it! After the initial shock it was wonderful, and the kids had no problem with the temp of it. The actual pool is in a closed off area just opposite one of the toilet blocks. Just off the pool area is a seating area with picnic tables where you can sit and watch your littlies in the pool, this too is fenced off.

There is a small park on site for the littlies. Two big kid swings and a climbing frame with two slides. I didn't notice a playing field for the littlies but we did use unoccupied pitch areas to play cricket and ball games in. My only concern with this is that I had to remind the littlies not to be too powerful with their hitting and kicking abilities lest they hit caravans or tents that were near. I didn't take our littlies bike but many littlies had bikes and scooters which were allowed to be rode on site.

A separate field is available for tents without electric hook up.

There is a restaurant / eating place at the site which we didn't use but plan to next time. There is a petrol station next door to the site, which also sells disposable bbq's and coals. And buses seemed to run from the site into Brecon and back but I'd check with the site owners for timetables and more info on that.

Brecon town is only five minutes away and offers, shopping (with plenty of camping shops), Morrisons and Aldi's, Brecon Theatre and the canal for boating and walks.

We're not very active :0 but there were plenty of walking, biking, riding opportunities in the surrounding countryside.

We will definitely be returning to this site and found it a relaxing and well catered for experience with accommodating, welcoming and respectful staff.
