Stayed at this site on august b/hol weekend.
Lovely site clean toilets / showers with free hot water always a bonus when you have 3 children.
Down the bottom of the site there are more toilets and showers and also 2 bathrooms and a drying room which was a god send due to the weather and our children in the swimming pool every day. The pool was actually warm not like others we have used. Do not rely on the restaurant at the end of the drive being open. Brill take aways and restaurants in Brecon which is 4 mins away. Must say take barge trip from Brecon excellent value and entertainment.

Friendly site.
Excellent toilet and shower facilities.
Open air swimming pool was clean and despite poor weather was enjoyed by my children.
Pitches very spacious and drained well but ours was on a slope.
Good children's playground.
Garage shop next door to site provided basics.
Fantastic views of the beacons from the pitches.
Would definitely return to this site.

Warm welcome from the owners on a late arrival - 2 night stay in Motorhome.
This site is certainly of an excellent standard. No less than 2 fully serviced toilet / shower blocks, with fantastic clean and very spacious facilities. Three nice sized sinks for all the washing up.
Good sized pitches and hook up facilities.
It is a very family friendly site and was very hectic when we stayed with lots of children biking and running around. It was nice to see that families were enjoying it, but not relaxing enough for us personally with a dog in tow. Dog walk is good and accessible.
Brecon is a beautiful town but is quite a steep uphill walk home but we still went and thoroughly enjoyed it (about 20 minutes). Marston Pub at bottom of Hill beside the big Morrisons Superstore was very reasonably priced and food really nice (dog friendly) as was the Bull Hotel in middle of town. People in this area are very welcoming and friendly.
Would certainly recommend this site for its excellent, clean, spacious facilities but not for a quiet relaxing holiday. The site staff are also lovely people and you will be well assured of a warm welcome. Very reasonably priced too.

We stayed at the site 12/14 0f June. It was lovely. Swings and slide onsite for the children. Swimming pool midway on the site. Very nice shower block and wash-up area. Constant hot water, as we know some sites fail on the constant hot water. There was a freezer for your ice packs. Nice walk into Brecon and £4 taxi back from Morrisons. Friendly owners who lent me an aerial. No constructive criticism really. Nice food in the adjacent pub too!

We arrived later than planned on a Sunday evening but were still made very welcome by the warden. On first appearance the site seemed quite full, but most of the units around the site were empty so it would appear were bolt holes for the weekends only. For the best part of the five days we stayed the site was very quite, on one night I think we were the only campers there. This however may have had something to do with the weather which was not the best for camping, rain rain and more rain culminating on the Friday (05/09/08) with the great deluge. We would have been happy to stay longer but things were getting pretty damp and the roadway down from the toilets had become a raging river, with water flooding down off the fields above. We beat a hasty retreat back home to dry out!
The facilities on site were excellent, I could not fault the standard of the modern shower block, compared to some we have used on other sites. The downfall of the toilets and showers were the other campers. Owing to the weather we did not make use of the swimming pool as we were wet enough, however had the sun been shining I am sure we would have been tempted. There is no shop on site just the garage next door. We did not use the restaurant but it looked very pleasant and a glance at the menu suggested that the prices were reasonable.
Brecon is a charming town and we liked the people, who seemed very friendly and willing to go out of their way to help. It is within walking distance from the site, the first part is on the road,(about half a km) but then drop off down the second turning on the right and follow a lovely river walk through the woods to the Cathedral. I can highly recommend the Fish and Chip Shop in the town, although I cannot remember the name - its the one under the Antique shop near Woolworths. The Tourist Information in the main car park were extremely helpful recommending guides and pointing us in the direction of things to do to stay dry! One recommendation was a visit to The Big Pit Coal Mine at Blaenavon, which was an excellent day out, do go and visit its great and its free. Our intention had been to have a walking holiday but the weather put pay to that, however the Brecon Beacons are a beautiful area when the sun shines and I can highly recommend them to any one. We would happily return but hopefully the next time the weather will be better!

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks stay at Bishops Meadow, weather was not good but we were made to feel really comfortable and welcome and everything was done to make our stay enjoyable.
Site facilities, toilet/showers, pool, playground were all to an excellent standard.
Comments previously about pool and lifequard are totally unjustified as notice states supervision by parents of under 12 year olds, so is optional if you go in.
Rates very acceptable for the standard of site.
Outstanding views and local area with lots to do and see.
We wish Zoe and Howard continued success with campsite and 'Weather' and we will be back sometime.

Spent 3 nights here and wish we could have spent more. The owner was constantly wizzing around on his little buggy and always had the biggest smile you have ever seen. The weather wasn't the best so we didn't get full use of the pool or playground but the facilities were brilliant. The pool doesn't have a life guard but surely that's the parents job it isn't a baby sitting service. The showers, toilets etc 1st class. Has a laundry room and an extra shower block with toilets so plenty of room for everyone. The garage next door while not hugely stocked provided any forgotten bits. Was disappointed when we arrived the 1st night that the restaurant next door was closed up, we did manage to get in there on our last night for a meal in the bar and a glass of wine. The waitress was serving food in the restaurant and bar, serving drinks at the bar washing up in the kitchen and feeling ill and was pleasent and efficient and smiled all the time. Breacon is a lovely town with loads of little shops. We went to Ikea in Cardiff ( about an hour ) following perfect directions and tips from the owner. The Dr Who exhibition also in Cardiff was excellent.
The weather was rubbish but it certainly did not make any difference an excellent campsite with large pitches. Loads of attractions nearby to keep everyone busy. We had a 10 yr old boy and 16 yr old girl with us.
Would definitely return

The campsite has some very nice features -the pool can be a bit cold but the kids loved it anyway. I would say the site is more popular with the caravans and tourers, if you want hookup, you are amongst the caravans etc.
We committed the dreadful sin of forgetting our groundsheet (left in the shed after the last cleaning) and as the weather proved to be the worst in all record in August, we were very thankful that the owner said he had an old groundsheet that we could have. It did have lots of holes in it but beggers can't be choosers and we were very grateful.
The shop is beside the site at the garage next door. Too far for small kids to go to alone. Showers etc were great and clean, lashings of hot water. The scenery is fab, lots to do but would be better in good weather.

Thankfully pre-booked this site as it was very busy. We were welcomed by the owner who took us to our pitch is his golf buggy. We had a terrific view on a slightly sloping site. The site is well maintained & toilets are clean & tidy, but agree to previous review about the toilet roll running out.
The weekend we were there the weather was fantastic which meant we were able to enjoy the facilities. Through no fault of the owner, some person had taken a glass into the swimming pool area which then got broken & the pool had to be closed. The kids around us decided to have a water fight, think most of the site was involved lol. However the owner decided to confiscate the water bottles for whatever reason, he never explained why! the kids were doing no harm. But that aside it was still good.
The pub which is there was closed for meals on the sunday night & closed altogether on the monday night, I don't think this is connected to the site though. Just be prepared for this as we had to go into brecon for tea.
The surrounding area is lovely wish we could have had more time to see it. All in all a lovely site & we will stay again if we are in the area

Just returned from our first visit to Bishops Meadow. Will try to keep this as concise as possible.
Bad points.
1. Pool is very cold and is unsupervised.
2. Only 4 toilets in gents so there is a certain amount of queuing and you never get a cold seat -advantage perhaps :-)
3. The floors in the toilets are consistently wet as the toilets are close to the pool. On one occasion ladies completely ran out of toilet roll so could do with some focus here.
4. Its expensive to stay.
Positives.
1. Views to die for !
2. Very friendly staff. Its unusual to get such a good level of service these days.
3. Wonderfully quiet site.
4. If you can get in the top field there is loads of room. Less so in the main area.
5. A very relaxed atmosphere. A lot of sites these days have rules and regs running into pages - Not so at this site.
The positives far outweigh the negatives and I am planning a return trip later this summer.
Ps:- If you visit don't forget the Ice Cream Shop in Brecon.
