We have camped here and stayed in a caravan for three years running. Ideal for us and our young family. Set on a farm the children think its fantastic, it's quiet and safe for the children to play. The lady who runs the site gives it her all, her customer skills are of a high standard, you can see she takes pride in all that she does on site.
The home made cakes are priced nicely and taste great, the meat and eggs you can buy is also fab and priced reasonably.
The site is a quiet and they have a noise cut off time which suits us having the children so young.
If you want a relaxing holiday with plenty of outdoor activities this is a great site. We have a trailer that fits on the bike to put the children in so we can bike from the site to park etc. Plenty of walks to suit all.
The facilities are clean and well presented.
Hope to visit again in the summer. This site fills up quite quick so book in advance.

Two adults, two kids (aged 14 & 11) plus dog, Vango Maritsa 700 tent with electric hook up.
The location of this site can be summed up in one word; wow! It is in the middle of Dalby Forest and the added bonus of the site is that you do not have to pay the usual £7/car entrance fee to get in to the forest. Ideal for mountain biking, walking, Go Aping(!), bbqs and relaxing there really is no need to leave the forest. Close by though is the North Yorks Moors Railway for the steam enthusiast, the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors itself and Whitby not too far away if you did fancy a ride out.
Ok, so the facilities are basic but they are clean. Three showers in total (these were heated too, wasn't expecting that!), two toilets and one sink in Ladies, two toilets and one sink in Mens, pot washing area and drying room. The only slight niggle is that there really does need to be at least another sink available; one is not enough with two toilets plus people teeth cleaning etc even though it is a small site. That said, it would definitely not put me off returning!
Paid £7/night/adult, £3/night/child plus £3/night for EHU which was fairly priced.
Great customer service; from booking to leaving. On arrival we reported to the office and was met with a warm welcome by one of the owners who showed us where we could pitch, where things were, what was what etc.
My kids loved this site even though there was no play park etc - this was not needed at all. There was ample room for kids to enjoy frisbee, bat & ball etc. Both of them commented on how much they enjoyed the site.
Overall this has got to be one of the best sites we have stayed at. The location is fantastic, we loved the fact that the owners did not pack the site out and there was plenty of space. The quiet after 10pm rule is adhered to thankfully and the site has a lovely atmosphere.
Hope to return sooner rather than later!

We booked a Pod for our family, having never camped before and being a lover of my 'own bed', I had my reservations!
What a treat, these pods are immaculate, set in such a lovely working farm, we have 3 kids (2 teens and a 9 year old) so we booked a family pod, there was plenty of room, 3 single camp beds and a double air bed, nice & cosy.
Owners were friendly and informative, we booked bacon sandwiches for the morning, home made bread, they were so lovely.
Clean showers and toilets, nothing to complain about whatsoever, kids loved it, we will definitely be booking to come again, thanks again to Helen and Richard

Me and the Mrs wanted a quick break and decided on one of the PODs read a lot of mixed reviews on these so decided to give one ago, perfect if you don't really want to put a tent up just take everything else barring you tent.
Site is in the middle of dalby forest which means peace and quiet, easy to find with directions from the owner, roads a bit bumpy leading to the site but not an issue.
Arrived met the owner and was shown to our little pod, first impressions of site was spotless very very well maintained, the pods have their own parking area away from pods which is no further than 20yrds from furthest pod which means the grass in front is left nice and tidy.
Pods have electric/lights/small heater.
We set up our little palace and was at home and relaxed.
Toilets/shower block was spotless water was nice and warm.
If you order the night before you can get breakfast buns done for your grub all with the produce from the working farm also you can buy fresh eggs / burgers / porkchops / sausages all fresh off the farm and at a reasonable price.
A nice little touch I thought was there was metal grates supplied for each pod and for campers to put bbq`s on to protect the grass.
If you bring kids, bring something for them todo or go out a lot as there is nothing for them todo but plenty of room for them to play.
In a nut shell this site is spot on if you want peace and quite this is it,
With whitby 20-30mins away pickering just up the road, and the ice cream in thornton-le-dale
What more do you need.
We will defo be going back and have already told our friends who also will be visiting.
Trust me you wont be disapointed so get ya backsides there.

If you want peace and tranquillity then this is the place to be, if you want to party till the early hours then go to somewhere completely different as the owners will not tolerate this and quite rightly so as this is a working farm.
The site is level & spotlessly clean and set right in the middle of Dalby forest. The field is split into 2 with the tourers being at the top of the field and the tents being at the bottom along with the Pods, (5 or 6 I think). The owners will only let on a maximum 6 Touring caravans at any one time and believe me there is loads of space.
We spent four nights here and enjoyed every minute.
Helen & Richard are a lovely hardworking couple who basically in my opinion wont take any cr*p from no one so again just beware if you were planning to party all night.
Thank's for a lovely stay and hopefully see you next year.
Mark & Jeannette

Visited over the bank holiday weekend with my wife and two children aged 4yrs and 20 months. On arrival spoke to the owner who was lovely and walked us around to our plot. Throughout our stay both her and the other owner were so accommodating. Did not have one of the breakfast buns but they looked wonderful. The camp site is lovely for children to run around and play. Even the bank holiday they did not over crowd the field so we have lots of space.
The toilets are lovely and clean.
The owner does go around at 10pm and any noise is requested to be turned off, so if you want a quite site on a night this is the one
We will be going back this site has ticked all the boxes.

Off the beaten track and good for the mountain bike fraternity. Site is almost level and mainly grass, though there is hardstanding available in front of the cattle shed. No playground for children - all the youngsters we saw while there were part of families who were all there for the biking.
In general, the facilities are very good - 2 toilets and sink for ladies and same for gents. 2 showers - lots of hot water on one of those push button thingies. Pot washing room and drying room plus a shower which would suit disabled. Also bike washing area. They were all kept clean & fresh during our stay. One thing which would be helpful in the showers would be somewhere to put your soap etc while in the shower. Lots of dog walking off site.
For those who aren't into testosterone fuelled sports, then it's very hand for day trips to the North Moors Railway at Pickering, or Whitby and Hutton le Hole. Not forgetting Balderson's ice creams in Thornton Dale.

We have just returned home from a night in the camping pods, on arriving at the site the owners were extremely welcoming. Prior to our arrival the owner had emailed us about the weather as some snow had fell in Dalby, this didn’t deter us though.
The toilets are basic, 2 toilets and a sink, all you need, two separate showers which have lovely hot water. The camping pod was warm all night even though it had snowed.
The site is situated on working farm near to the visitors centre for Dalby Forest; this makes it ideal for walking and biking. The farm has cows and it’s nice to see the farmer working his farm.
We will definitely be returning in the summer!

Me and my husband stopped in a camping pod. It's the first time we have stopped in one but really impressed with them, no messing about putting tent up. We wanted a quiet weekend and that's exactly what we got, the only noise we heard were cows and birds, it was lovely.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Shower/toilet block very clean, no complaints from us. Will definitely be returning with our kids and their bikes, so we can explore dalby forest

Excellent campsite. We booked last minute and was surprised how quiet it was even in the middle of August. Located in the middle of Dalby Forest, working farm and the camping area is surrounded by a cow field.
The facilities were good, clean, hot showers. Pot wash area. The farm sells eggs, sausages etc. That were amazing.
Site fees include entry to Dalby which makes it well worth the money since the park toll is ridiculous
You can bike from the site to all the walking areas in the forest easily, or just bike all day. Would be a long walk to get from the farm to any of them. They did offer us a barn to lock the bikes up but there were tree's nearby anyway.
Pickering is nearest place for shops, or you can bike to a couple of small villages, almost all the way on tracks/minor roads (about 100m on main road) but there's not a lot of shops or anything when you get there (a pub and a local shop that had run out of bread when we got there)
Owners get a lot of bad press from other reviewers but we had no problem with them at all they were friendly and helpful
