Stayed in a family pod. The site is immaculate and in a lovely location; just out of the gate and you are on the Dalby Forest mountain bike trails.
A really friendly family site, and even though we were four adults staying there for a weekend this suited us fine, plenty of space for those with families kids to play without affecting other campers, and all quiet at dusk.
The only very very small criticism I could make is that the ladies toilets have just one wash basin. A little inconvenient when there are teenager girls on the site who like to spend a bit of quality time with the mirror and sink, and I ended up brushing teeth etc. behind the camping pod as a result.

I've just returned from spending two nights at High Rigg and can only say what a great little site. I can only repeat the good things that have already been written about this site.
The facilities are great with a small block comprising of 3 showers, male and female toilet and a pot washing room with 2 sinks - the water was always piping hot.
Having gone with the intention of using this site as a base to ride the trails in Dalby it is ideally placed being able to access the red route directly from the drive, or a short fire road ride to Dixons Hollow.
I certainly believe this site will become a regular for me when both riding Dalby and for exploring the Moors.

What a wonderful weekend in a calm peaceful retreat.
Would recommend High Rigg for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors and be at one with nature.
There have been a few reviews with regards to the owner, I'd say to these people, you need to treat people with respect and you are treated with respect in turn. This is their home.
With cows and pigs roaming the beautiful countryside and pork produce on site, there is a very organic feel. The farm work is going on quietly in the background.
Will be back again.

What a wonderful site. We had 11 lovely nights here, with no EHU! Just the way we like it! The facilities were always clean, the owners very friendly and extremely helpful.
Not at all overcrowded and even though it was busy it wasn't particularly noisy as there seemed to be many like minded people staying. Cows, pigs and swallows in abundance, nightjars and owls at night; fantastic views across the Dalby Forest.
So hidden away you wouldn't know it was there. Fantastic location, fantastic owners, very well kept site, would certainly recommend it, we will be back.

We had a great stay in a family camping pod with our three grandchildren, ages 15, 11 and 10 years. The site also accommodated our small camper van. It's a small site mainly comprising of campers in tents, but the six camping pods were in constant use and provided a comfortable space to sleep and just sit and while away the day!
Richard and his sister, the owners are helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. There are just a few rules that ensure the site is user friendly for everyone.
The only suggestion we would make is that a separate wash room would be useful as the three showers are the only washing facilities available.
Please give this site a try; you won't be disappointed! (The pigs and cattle provide free entertainment!)

This is a small but very neat campsite, its a Caravan Club CL site therefore only allows 5 caravans, however also allows non-member tents. There are about 8 EHU for tents, sharing the field with the pods at the bottom end.
The facilities are spotless, with indoor washing up room with 2 sinks, 2 toilets for both male and female, as well as 3 showers. The hot water is boiling throughout the day.
Primarily there were cyclists using this site, due to the great tracks around Dalby forest, although there were also couples using the pods and family campers, although there is no play area and the farmer is strict that it is a working farm and not to go near the livestock. There is a play area next to the visitor centre in Dalby, which is a short drive away.
Overall a lovely peaceful not overcrowded site.

The type of site suited to one-nightes, cyclists using it as a base. This is not the site for families or people who want to relax and enjoy a proper camping experience. The site owner has a very tight rein on the site, has many signs around telling you what you are not allowed to do and is quite intimidating in his approach.
It's a shame as the field is a lovely, small, intimate field and the toilet/shower facilities, although very small, aren't bad. The best thing about this site is that it is in the middle of Dalby Forest. That's it.

I stayed on the site over the weekend of the Mountain Biking World Cup in a 2 berth pod. The site was full of like minded people and was very friendly, despite the amount of people on site the noise is minimal and the surrounding area very quiet.
The facilities are excellent with hot showers, toilets and a washing-up room. Booking-in is simple, turn-up and the warden will find you for payment.
Access to the trails for walking or biking is easy from the site, with the main visitors centre a few minutes drive away or a slightly longer walk. For the bikers the Purple Mountain bike shop and cafe is 5 minutes down the hill, and access onto the red route is 2 minutes down the hill.

This is the second time we've been here, we just love it. Safe for the children, no roads to worry about, very friendly farmer who sells delicious REAL sausages and burgers. And among our lovely English countryside, Dalby forest has a great playground and of course GO APE. Also a coffee shop/cafe with outdoor seating area which is especially nice and with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Its just a perfect place as a base, and we love it so much we are booked to come back in august 2010.

I went to this camp site 3 times last year and will be going again this year it has every thing you want when you go camping. Its in the middle of dalby forest on a farm with lots of cows. There are 3 shower blocks which are never over crowded, facilities to wash your pots and the reason I enjoy this place so much is because of the pods, you get more space than a tent and its also warmer. The farmer is friendly but if your in around your twenties like me he can seem a bit distant until he gets to know you. There are lots of things to do in and around dalby forest to keep you busy or just to relax and enjoy your surroundings like the go ape, whitby (good for fish and chips),thorntonly dale(good for ice creams). I'm sure every one who comes to this campsite will want to come back again like me.
