FAB SITE. I stayed on this site with my 2yr old son for a week (we wanted to stay longer when we got their but sadly full booked!) my son loved staying on the farm with the tractors and cows. We bought the homemade sausages on a few occasions for our BBQ, they were the best we had ever tasted and very convenient on the days we didn’t go out the forest. This site is great for bike riding and walking in Dalby forest (and don't have to pay the entry fee!) Whitby and east coast all with in 40 mins drive.
We will stay here again

Lovely site - Richard very helpful and pleasant. Get your shower tokens from reception - one 50p token was enough for two of us to have a good, hot shower. Plenty of room in the shower for your clothes etc.
There were lots of people there over the weekend but we only had to wait a short time for the washing up sinks. In the morning and evening you may have to wait til someone has finished brushing their teeth before you can wash your hands after using the loo but this wasn't a problem.
Great base for nipping over to the coast with lovely villages along the way.
In Thornton there is a great ice cream parlour with ice creams made on the premises and too many lovely flavours to choose from.
If you are bugged by bugs then take your insect repellant - it is in a forest and next to the working farm's fields so of course there will be critters!
We will definitely be going back. It's a great place for mountain biking in the forest as well as walking and there is a Go Ape centre for those who want some tree top adventures. You can hire bikes in the forest too.
You can also go along to see the White Horse carved into the hillside at Kilburn as well as going along to Sutton Gliding Club where you can watch the gliders- you can even go up in one if you dare!
We did talk about not leaving a review because we wanted it to be our little secret but that seemed a little selfish so enjoy.

We have been meaning to try this site for ages. Glad we did. We stayed Sun to Sat. Four other vans on site nice and peaceful. Toilet block is basic but clean, one shower (50p)token and a washing up room. The field itself is well kept probably some of the best grass we have ever pitched on. When we arrived Richard was on hand to site us, wished I had a longer hook up because the large trees on the western side of the site block out some of the evening sun. Great site for walking, mountain biking. Thornton le Dale is the nearest village a couple of pubs and a few cafes and shops. Lovely area will most definitely be back to High Rigg

We stayed for 2 nights towards the end of May.
Richard the owner was very friendly and welcoming.
The toilets and showers were minimal but adequate for such a small site.
Only thing to be warned about is that when looking at the location on the map it shows it as being on the wrong side of Dalby Forest Drive, but not really an issue as it is signposted off the road but can be confusing if you are relying on a Sat Nav.
The Fox and Rabbit pub nearby does fantastic food but we did need to book in advance after being disappointed on the first evening.
No problem with not paying the £7 Toll for the forest drive as the wardens took our word for it that we were staying at High Rigg.
We will definitely be back.

Excellent site for mountain biking which was the reason for our visit. 20 minutes drive to nearest shop in Thornton le dale a very picturesque village. Owner Richard very helpful and friendly on arrival. At £5 per person per night will definitely be back. Plenty of hot water in the shower although there is only 1 and we found them clean all the time. Will be back to go biking from here again.

Great site on a farm in the middle of some beautiful countryside. Site is in easy reach of Whitby, Pickering, great fish & chips. Chocolate factory in Thornton-le-dale.
Shower/toilet block on site had plenty of hot water after a muddy day cycling through Dalby Forest. Owner Richard was friendly, very helpful guy. Our 3 year old daughter loved the cows and calves and was fascinated by the tractor bringing hay bales for feed.

Very nice little site. Owner is very helpful. Facilities are small but very well kept.
Handy to know that if you are camping at this site, you don't have to pay the entry fee to the Dalby forest-so when you arrive, let the guy at the toll know what you are doing. The Dalby forest is great for mountain biking or quiet walks.
Only issue we had was the trek to the pub. Although there seems to be one nearby on the map, it is quite an excursion-so have someone ready to drive if you want to go for a beer!
I look forward to going back to this site.

A little gem of a campsite .
Lovely location ,Dalby forest has lots to offer ,with plenty of wooded walks ,rivers and lakes and adventure playgrounds for the kids ( or big kids )and plenty of places to picnic ( benches and barbecues are provided ,just bring charcoal and food )Dalby is also home to the the latest 'Go ape ' centre ( adventure playground type affair up in the tree tops )
The woods are a haven for wildlife, we saw several deer ,bats and even a badger( first time any of us have seen one in the wild )!
The site its self is well maintained and pretty level ,the toilets were spotless and modern ,the shower less so but was serviceable .
The owner was friendly and very helpful ,we didn't realise we needed a very large hookup extension to reach the power points but luckily he came to our rescue with the loan of an extension .
The site was a little noisy when we were there but this was due to a couple of groups of campers being a little noisy but we still managed to sleep ( all the fresh air and walking helps )
Will definitely visit again ,hopefully for longer next time as there is so much to do !

We visited High Rigg campsite for the weekend after reading the previous review on this Website. This is a lovely well maintained site on a farm in the middle of Dalby Forest. The site is a bit tricky to find, as you have to to drive through Forest Drive to get to it and our satellite navigation struggled with the post code. If you are planning to visit Dalby Forest anyway, camping here is a great idea as you don't have to pay the £7.00 parking fees to get into the Forest. The site was quiet when we visited and very peaceful. Great if you want to get away from it all. The campsite facilities are modern and spotlessly clean. 2x male toilets and 2x female toilets but only one shower. Be aware that there are no shops/restaurants/pubs in easy walking distance. So either bring your own supplies or be prepared to drive a few miles to Thornton Le Dale. The Forestry Commission runs a Visitors Centre in Dalby Forest with a restaurant and picnic benches and lots of information walks/bike rides in the Forest. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is also a cycle hire place called Purple Mountain and they hire bikes for £15 for 3 hours or £20 for the day for adults. We hired bikes for 3 hours and followed the Blue route - quite strenuous at the uphill start but great downhill afterwards. We saw an Adder in the woods on our bike ride. We would recommend this site for a few days of forest adventures!

Wonderful small 5 caravan site in the middle of dalby forest drive - There is a small toilet block with mens and womens toilets, one shower (40p) and a washing up area all spotlessly clean. Well maintained grounds which are accesed through a not too muddy farm yard and all for only £7.50 a night including electric!
Booking was a problem as there were only a few free days through the whole summer so book early to aviod disappointment. There is no play area but Dalby forest has sevaral large play areas and picnics spots. There is a river running along side the forest drive which the children and dogs love and there is excellent walking and cycling including a purpose built skills trail for those who like some excitement. Bikes can be hired from the visitors centre and there is a wide range of events. There is normally a charge for entering the forest drive (£5) but this is waived if you are satying on the site so you get double value! Definately recommended!
