Wot a gem. Just returned from a weekend break at this campsite, and wanted to leave a review on how great the site is. Lovely pitches, private(some with trees around)big enough for our motorhome, awning and still plenty of room, and best of all the views are fab.
Nice clean toilet blocks, within easy reach and the grounds are well kept. Great walks in the area, and you can also use the cafe on the site of the caves.
There is a pub within 10 min walk, but didn't have food here. The wardens (two ladies) were very helpful and friendly. All in all a brilliant site and well worth a visit. We will be returning in the very near future.

Having stayed at this site many times I thought we should leave a review. We called in on spec and found ourselves a pitch.
The facilities are excellent and there is a pub across the road which unfortunately was closed for the night we were there due to a private party, but having used it before it is good value and the portions are enormous.
The campsite pitches are generally level, but if camping on a grass pitch you cannot take your car to your tent as no cars allowed on the grass.
We used a hardstanding pitch and rock pegs and don't have any problems. All in all an excellent site well maintained with lots of walks about the area.
As I said we are regulars staying here a couple of times each year and will be coming back

We had originally booked to stay at this site in June this year but had to cancel because of the bad weather. Thankfully we were able to book again and I was most impressed with the facilities this site had to offer. I can see why this site is so highly rated. I agree with the previous reviews. For those of you who enjoy walking, you will not be disappointed. There are several walks to choose from and one leading from within the campsite.
If you don't fancy cooking your own breakfast, there is the cafe within the show cave complex which serves meals. We were recommended by friends to eat at the very popular 'Ancient Briton pub' in Pen Y Cae but it was fully booked. However, we had a lovely meal at the 'Pen Y Cae Inn', about 2 miles from the campsite.
Thank you for such a warm welcome and We will definitely be coming back again.

Dan yr ogof campsite is absolutely lovely, it is so reasonably priced, we pay £20 for three of us, 2 dogs and awning plus electric etc.
The pitches for caravans are hardstanding and are more like superpitches as each has its own water, waste and electric point. Many of the pitches are individual and surrounded by bushes so very private. No caravans in rows here.
There are excellent warm showers and I know they have a new block opening at some point this year. Although the ones that are there are perfectly clean.
The owner and staff are really welcoming, and easy going. The sitr is peaceful at night with no noise except for sheep!
Lovely mountain walks around and an excellent pub across the road, the gwyn arms. Some adult only areas also for those who want to be away from children.
There are no parks but there is a lovely river for playing near and areas for scootering etc. A lovely site that we keep on returning to as we cant find better!

We stayed here a few years ago in a tent and then again in our campervan this year over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
We had a nice quiet pitch to ourselves tucked away in the trees in the Adult Only part, even though the campsite seemed to be fully booked. Likewise, there are plenty of toilet, shower and washing up facilities with lots of hot water so this campsite is a lovely place to stay.
There are some great walks to be done from the campsite and the caves are also well worth a visit on a rainy day. The only thing to note is that of the two pubs shown on the OS Explorer map, only the one nearest to the campsite is still open and they don't serve food on Sunday evenings.

Fantastic site. I took the kids there for 2 nights. It is a short walk to the Show caves, Dinosaur Park and Animal farm, all of which the kids loved. Lovely mountain path off the site takes you up to splendid views with a little effort that helps to tire the littluns out ready for bed.
The warden was very friendly and helpful. The shower block is always lovely and warm with lashings of hot water.
I asked the warden what time I had to be off-site by on my departure day and he said 'whenever you like, 4 or 5 pm if you want'.
Fantastic. I recommend this site for a short stop.

Fantastic site, cheap rates. Pitches are spacious yet private. Good facilities, water and waste points in every pitch.
Toilet block was reasonably clean. The area dedicated to dish washing was tiny, but clean.
Amazing views on the surrounding mountains and plenty of trekking possibilities for everyone.
The caves, 5mins walk from the campsite, are beautiful. Included in the ticket for the caves, which is ridiculously pricey, there is the access to the dinosaurs park (good fun for the youngest) and a play area in the barn.

Absolutely beautiful setting.
The caves:
Lots to do to keep 8 small children (ages 2 - 6) entertained, they loved the caves, the Cathedral Cave particularly. The Dinosaurs were an added bonus!
As for the farm, the animals were well kept and there were enough there to retain the interest of all the kids. The double ended playbarn was alo a hit. One end was a tricyle race track, the other a std playbarn.
All in all a full day out and value for money if you remember to use your Tesco vouchers!
However as campers on the site, there were some downsides:
There should have been a discount for campers for entrance to the caves - there wasn't.
You should be able to split your day pass over a couple of days - officially you couldn't,but as no one mans the gate on the farm until late morning, we had a second morning with the animals!
No SHOP! - this was a real issue for bread and milk hungry under 5's. Nearest small supermarket was 7 miles away. No play area, not an issue for us as there were animals, fields and lots of room to safely run around
However, in spite of this the pitches were spacious, quiet, flatish; the toilet block was lovely and warm and very clean. Biggest bonus was the relaxed timings policy. Which meant we could take 3 hours packing up, have a last game of cricket and not leave camp until 2pm - with 3 cars full of happy campers.

We were so impressed that I don't know where to start. What a wonderful site with amazing views. It is laid out in different secluded areas, with adult only and quiet zones but still plenty of room for children to play.
A very friendly and informative warden who constantly drives around litter picking and gardening. Toilet blocks wonderfully warm and very clean. Each pitch is hardstanding with electric hook up, waste disposal point and water supply. The tent pitches are also beautifully green and private.
When you arrive the camp site is to the right and the caves to the left and if you then read the signs at the toilet block they will tell you that you can either pay at the shop or wait for the warden to come round - which he does regularly.
You also pick your own pitch on arrival which is great as I am very fussy, and there is no strict arrival or departure time - how refreshing! There is no food shop on site but you can dine at the restaurant by the caves.
There are no shops bars or clubs here but if that is what you are looking for, you are the wrong place!

Just back from this site.
Very expensive for what it is. Agreed the view is stunning but would I pay that again? I doubt it.
Also worthy of note that there were no concessions for entering the caves by camping Our cheap weekend away therefore was very expensive!
Piping hot water all day, adequate toilet block and some lovely tucked away pitches for those in caravans. Ground generally level and not too many problems with my normal tent pegs.
Nowhere really for the kids to run around either.
