This was my first visit to lakeside and I am just coming (sadly) to the end of my weeks break here.
This place is a real hidden gem. It has 4 or so stunning fishing lakes and a landscape that leaves you speechless. The wardens are helpful and always around if you need anything at all; the place is kept to a well maintained and immaculate high standard. It has a tranquil peaceful feel and is situated in a small picturesque village which has two pubs a shop and post office all within walking distance (and do good food)! The local people are lovely and everyone I have met here has been a really joy. Although I myself do not fish it is lovely watch a variety of people take time out and sit fishing happily at the lakesides relaxing. The showers and loos are all clean and well maintained and there is a large children's outdoor play area as well as a large refuse area, loo and waste water points all catered for and clearly marked. So I would one hundred percent recommend this place it is beautiful. Lastly there are lots of water tap points around which was really handy as I have often stayed at places where you have to walk ten mins to fill up your big water barrels. Very handy! There is a shop on site selling everything you need and they also have wi-if which to me was another essential! I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay and shall be back again soon. Thankyou lovely lakeside xxx

It's a long time since I have been to lakeside. The lady who greeted us was lovely. The facility's although dated where immaculate. Nothing was to much trouble. My husband had a great time fishing and the little shop although out of season must be a little gold mine in peak times, it offers everything you require even fresh baked bread. There is also a play area if you have younger children. There is a lot of work going on with making the lakes larger and improvements all round. Well done, we will be back soon

Been to lakeside Denver four times great little site with good fishing fish and chip van calls on a Friday evening. Dogs welcome friendly people. The one downside is you are unable to bye a part days fishing. So if you arrive in the afternoon you will be charged a full days fishing adult £6 children £4 apart from that well worth a visit.

Lovely gem in heart of countryside yet close to Downham Market and Kings Lynn for all your shopping or entertainment needs. Close enough to norfolk coast and Sandringham for day trips. Lovely landscaped site offering pretty views and walks, with stunning sunsets from the main camping field. Children have a play area and space to run about, and dogs are welcome with their own walking area. The shop on site stocks basic grocery / toiletry needs as well as fishing items. Fresh bread and daily papers can be ordered. There are some touring pitches with hook up close to lake edge, so you can almost fish from your caravan! The toilet / shower block is modern, and cleaned regularly, there's also dish washing facilities, a washing machine and dryer. A fish & chip van visits on Friday evenings. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for peace and quiet, we come here regularly. Having looked around at other sites, we have not found anywhere to equal the setting, fishing and friendliness of Lakeside!

We just spent a long weekend at this site and sadly wasn't impressed. On arrival the driveway in is extremely uneven and could really do with filling. On reception we were left waiting for almost twenty minutes to be shown to our pitch and when we were taken there we were told to set up how we wanted. This is a very big site, I would say there is many more than 100 pitches - but worryingly only one toilet block, housing three cubicles and three showers in each, one sink for campers to wash their dishes in and one skip bin for the entire site. If you are there to fish be warned as the lakes are not closed off from the many children charging around shouting at the tops of their voices, and on bikes around the lakes - despite a sign saying 'no bikes'. Indeed, my son gave up fishing by the afternoon as he had children actually jumping onto his swim. By the afternoon my husband too gave up as there were children throwing stones into the fishing pond. The showers are one pound for seven minutes, and electric is extra. The toilets are cleaned once a day, but get into an awful mess due to the children constantly charging in and out of them. We unfortunately had a loud party nearby, who despite having a caravan, sat out with music playing until gone 2am. The next day the party proceeded to play rounders with their tennis balls bouncing off our car and awning constantly. Apparently there is a playfield, but no rules to ball-games in close proximity to caravans or tents? I did speak with the management about all these matters, with regards to the state of the toilets I was told that unruly children were to blame. With regards to the fishing lakes, I was told again that it was down to the parents to control their children. Regarding the loud party near to our caravan, I was told they should have gone to play in the playing field. I got the impression that once you have paid your fee's you were left to deal with whatever problems occurred on your own! My only positive would be that the grass was kept neat, although our awning was situated on extremely uneven, stoney ground. The site had a playground, but this seemed packed at all times by at least thirty children, luckily our children are beyond this age. In my view the fishing lakes need to be fenced to stop children playing in the area. The site needs to be wardened more frequently, especially around the toilet area. There needs to be more bins and at least one more sink for the campers as there was a constant queue in the mornings and of an evening. It is a shame as this is a lovely site, and could be much better with a few changes.

Just returned from a fab sunny weekend at Lakeside. We love this little site as it is only 30 minutes from home.
We have been there several times over the past couple of years. There is several little areas, but we like to go on the back field were the kids play area is. The wardens don't care how much you spread out, if the kids are playing ball or riding their bikes.
My parents take their caravan there too, but they like to go on Swan Lake, which is ideal for couples or fisherman that like to be close to the lake. We don't fish, but its lovely watching the kids fish with their dads and grandads.
There are new wardens this year, which are keeping the site a whole lot cleaner. The loos were nice and clean and there wasn't any rubbish lying around.
I like the idea of paying for my electric by card. Most campsites you go on charge two or three pound per night, but here you pay for what you use. For example I used £3. 40 for the bank holiday weekend. Another site you would have paid possibly £9. I would suggest when you buy the cards ask for the £1 ones, because the lady that owns the site is happy to refund UNUSED cards. So if you stick a fiver card in and you don't use it, its tough luck.

Not a bad site, we only live a few miles from this site and will be returning soon.
Firstly when we arrived we had to drive down a very bumpy road, we then arrived at the reception only to get out of the car into thick muddy puddles, but that's the worst it got. We were led to a back field where the drainage is a lot better and because it was not too full we had plenty of space.
Because the site has fishing lakes on it, it was a bit soaked in places. But we enjoyed the site but this may be that we like fishing.
The site is set off a peaceful country road. It has a big children's play area in view of the caravan and a pool table in and open lounge area.
You also have to pay for the showers 1 pound for 8 minutes, and also pay for electricity 1 pound 50 pence a day average, but considering that its only 15 pound per day it still comes way lower that some campsites per day
We had a nice peaceful holiday with plenty of fishing in the day and barbecues at night.

As you will see from our previous review, we have visited this site on many occasions and had no issues. This last visit was very different.
Firstly the pot holes appeared to have grown substantially in size.
On our last visit we pre booked pitch for this visit only to turn up and find that this was infact occupied until the following day.
The pitches are in poor condition, grass looks as if it hasn't been cut for weeks. There were not enough electric points for our pitches (we had booked 4) so we had to throw a cable over a ditch and through some trees to use a electric point in another field.
The toilets were not clean and the showers were running cold because the coin mechs hadn't been emptied.
The reception/shop doesn't appear to open at nay regular times so should you have an issue its a bit hit and miss if you will get any help.
The wardens had left, and you could tell, just so disorganised

Management response: We'd just like to point out the grass could not be cut as this was the wettest week we had on record, yes there were several potholes due to the amount of people on site and not adhering to the red flag for minimum use for driving round the park.
As the ground was wet and they all wanted to be together, the electricity lead was put over the dyke to accommodate them! They were offered a refund for the electric which was not used
I would point out all of their party had gazebos up plus awnings but were not charged extra for these, they also dug a trench in the field to let the water off without asking permission, which I thing was wrong but did not say anything.
The cleaner was cleaning the toilet block regularly and constantly during the bad weather. |

Our 4th or 5th visit to this site in the past two years. We come here because of the fishing and because its only a mile down the road.
Price of £15 per night does not now include electric, this is now paid for via a card meter. Cards can be purchased in £1 £5 or £10 amounts.
We stayed for 2 nights and used just over £2 electric.
Fishing remains good with a choice of lakes each representing their own challenge.
There is now a new shop on site offering basic provisions, some caravaning/camping equipment and some fishing tackle and bait.
The toilet block is always clean although catering for a site with nearly 100 pitches not nearly big enough for a full site.
The new wardens are very friendly very attentive and very helpful.
My one moan is that there is no half day charge for fishing. If you cant get on the site until late afternoon why should you still be charged for a full days fishing. Lots of sites now realise this and do half day rates. Very customer friendly.
We like this site and will return again.

This is the second time we have visited this site in the past couple of years and we are disappointed about our recent visit. You are now charged for electricity by the use of a card meter, but we were not told this on booking and the meter we had to use only accepted £10 cards and this is non-refundable. The children's playground needs attention and repair as some of the equipment is broken but has not been removed.
The toilet block is very clean and there is plenty of hot water.
We found it very difficult with only 1 washing up sink for the whole site.
The access road to the site is full of pot holes so be careful.
