Stayed on site for 4 nights, site was ok. Wardens were great and very helpful.
Only down side is the electric charge - was told it was 61p per unit - the standard rate is currently 24. 5p per unit
|
Management response: Thank you for the review.
We are on a business tariff which is fixed until 2026 at 61p per unit, we have been in touch with the electric people trying to get it reduced. |

Security for site is good, liked the gated access. Made us feel safe leaving vans. Fishing was good and lakes pretty and well looked after. Except one close to park had lots of rubbish blown in it.
£8 fishing a day.
Small shop on site, good fishing stock, sells a few camping basics, like wash stuff, plates etc, Also some drinks and ice creams.
Site says only to bin food waste but unfortunately this wasn't happening and some bins on site were over flowing most of the visit, especially the small bins around site.
The toilet block is very basic and has 3 ladies toilets/showers for whole site. Similar in mens. There was some queuing for these at times, because the site is very big.
Personally we felt like it needed another block. But washing up/laundry service was good.
The best camping spots were around the main lakes, but most seem to be taken up by seasonal pitches.
The top field near play park allows ball games and there was lots of kids playing on electric ride ons through and around the vans.
Personally the busy field wasn’t for us, seemed a lot quicker In other spots. Lots of water points which was an added bonus and fire safety points.
The electric card machines were a nightmare, struggled to get meters to work on arrival and near on impossible to get your left over balance put back on card to claim refund for unused, maybe its was our machine.
But we spoke to two other van owners who had left the money on machine as couldn’t get to work. We took a photo of readings and showed the shop what we had left and they worked out our refund.
Worked out as £6 for 4 days/3 nights which I didn’t think bad at all as we had a lot running.

Site was in a lovely village location just a short distance away from Downham Market.
The site had several fishing lakes which were very popular but can not comment on what the fishing was like as didn't use. Site was clean and tidy with several owner caravans on site.
Toilets and showers were ok but one of the ladies toilets didn't lock or flush very well.
Showers required £1 coin for each use and flow was intermittent when facilities were busy.
Paid £4 extra for electricity for the 4 days there.

Very clean. Really peaceful. Prepaid electric card was different, but you actually paid for what you used.
The staff were very friendly.
Good base for getting around, Downham Market only a 20 minute walk, pub in Denver village as well.
Only downside is the wifi, bit hit and miss. Would go back in the future.

This is a beautiful site with peaceful lakes that is well looked after in the quiet countryside close to the river and Denver Sluice
As a beginner I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the Wardens were, patiently explaining the vagaries of touring caravanning.
While there, we had a gale with strong winds which resulted in damage to the door of my precious little caravan. However, I could not have been better looked after had I been family. John and Mandy even made numerous phone calls for me to get repair men, and standing in the pouring rain while the job was done.
This I'm sure will become my favourite site.

Pretty site with nice lakes for fishing, fishing pretty good but there are more negatives than positives regarding this site, When we first arrived I paid and was told that someone would show us where everything was eg water, refuse bins etc,
Nope that never happened we were shown our pitch and then the person walked off. I was not given a site map or anything in the reception when I booked in so never knew where nothing was, had to keep asking other holiday makers where everything was, I noticed a lot of people walking around aimlessly with rubbish bags not knowing where to put them. There is only 1 refuse area for the whole campsite which is at the back of the site in another area which at peak times has 150 plus vans on it, 1 toilet/shower block which has only 3
Showers & 3 toilets in the ladies and 2 in the gents, 1 Elsan point and waste water point for the whole campsite. THE SOAP DISPENSERS in the ladies were EMPTY for the 3 days we were there, £1 COIN for shower £1 coin for hair dryer, electric you buy a card.
The management of the park has a lot to be desired, people can fish where ever they want so don't expect that just because you have a swim right where you have paid to be pitched that you can automatically fish it. Wrong, If someone else takes that swim then its tough! I personally heard and saw one elderly couple who were put on the wrong pitch when they had arrived, they had booked a lakeside pitch and had been given a pitch further back, so when they questioned it they were then told the next morning well you can move onto the lakeside pitch now if you want to, which meant the would have to take down their awning and put it up again!, so they
Declined as the lady was a cancer patient and in poor health and unable to undergo that kind of stress.
Would we return to stay there again in the future, no definitely not. Very bad management on their part, also it appears its one of those places where "its if your face fits" Certainly would not return.

Just visited Lakeside Touring Park & Fishing lakes for 6 nights and we had a really lovely time,
The owner Had all the COVID 19 requirements in place & every caravaner we talked to kept apart so we felt quite safe.
The shop on site is very well stocked so don’t worry if you forget your fishing gear as everything is covered also the shower block was kept lovely.
The pitch was level & the fishing lakes had lovely pegs, I pulled out some nice carp. The whole site is very pretty with lots of trees And lots of room between pitches.
The wardens were very helpful and made our stay really great, thank you all & look forward to coming back soon to Your lovely park.
Best wishes. Sue & Paul.

Excellent site, very helpful and friendly staff, shower and toilet facilities very clean, site tidy and lovely walks for our mutt.
A bonus for us was the fish and chips for sale on the Friday evening, nice food reasonably priced and good portions for the price.
Not a fisherman myself but walking Rosie we witnessed a 18. 5lb carp being landed.
This is our 2nd visit and certainly won’t be our last, great location to relax and watch the world go by.

Very over crowded lakes, over fished. Number off people fishing not monitored.
Very disappointing showers not very clean.
Very over priced, electric not included, cost £2. 50 a day just using kettle and tv. Pay for showers.

Management response: We have just had an E.H.O COVID 19 check and have passed with flying colours, as this lady had reported us when she left
As for monitoring the fishing we have 5 lakes, 100 pegs, plenty of space for the people that fish here, the lady in question was late up one morning so could not get her favourite swim but plenty of other swims were available
There is no way she could have used £2.50 per day by only using a kettle and a t.v. it works out about 50p / 60p per day.
We have never had any other complaints or people asking for a refund for not catching a fish. This lady also fell out with her friends before she arrived so the friends did not come. |
