I had very low expectations of this site due to being able to book a week in advance for a weekend in August I was, however, surprised with the neatly kept site. There was a play area for children which is one of the reasons we booked however when we got there we found signs all over that it was for under 8's only. A friends child who is 12 wasn't allowed to supervise his 5 year old sister as he himself is over 8.
The toilets were clean, however there were only 2 working ladies toilets for the site and just one washing up sink which we found we were queuing for, regularly.
We had a nice stay, the site is clean and tidy and in a lovely location, but we won't be rushing back.

Great campsite for family and couples. We have been twice with 12 of us and each time we have had a great time. There is several fishing lakes, which even if you don't fish they are lovely to walk round. They have a fish and chio van on a friday night which have to say was very convenient. There are two pubs within walking distance and the windmill is very nearby and worth a look. I only have one thing that I feel could be improved and that is having an extra couple of wash basins as there is always a queue. BUT otherwise don't heistate to go.

This is the first site we visited after buying our tourer and the owners / wardens couldn't have been more helpful. Infact I didn't realise until our last day that I was pitched in a difference direction to everyone else and my husband explained that the warden didn't want me to have to do a difficult maneouvre on my first trip.
Our pitch was perfect. Completely level, large and in a beautiful setting. I would describe the site as relatively simple. Not masses of facilities but it benefits from that simple feel. It felt quiet and relaxed and you can easily walk to a pub (right by the enterance) or to the windmill for cafe style lunches that are fabulous.
The windmill is a good place to visit both for an educational trip and the food. The bread is well worth a daily walk, its not far.
Although there are only three showers and toilets there was never anyone in them. I suspect most users of the site use their own. It is well worth the £1 cost of a shower as they are piping hot and long. I spend ages in a shower as I have long thick hair but even I had finished before they were anywhere near running out.
Even if our family of three paid for a shower every day the overall cost of this site is amazingly cheap.
The play park is great and my 6 year old loves it. I would also like to see a ball area as most kids love that and then they don't annoy other campers.
The location is excellent as you can easily walk to the pub, around the lakes, to the windmill and a little further to Denver Sluice. I understand you can also walk to Downham Market although we didn't try this. There are takeaways and a supermarket there.
By car it is not far to either the coast or pituresque Ely. If you have young children church farm is well worth a day out and will easily entertain for a whole day.
When we stayed there was a fish and chip van in the evening. An excellent idea if you just need to grab something although I think it comes quite late (gone 8)
If you are a fresh water fisherman you will be in your element. The lakes are beautiful.
This site is perfect for a value for money simplistic break. We will go back and have already booked

We have just returned from our second visit to this site. Its in a great location - plenty to do in the area and not far from the coast. The price is per unit and no added extras and at £15 a night with electric hook up this is one of the cheapest sites I have found! The owners are very friendly and helpful - living on site.
There are (I think but will stand corrected) 5 lakes to fish on and if you aren't keen on fishing they are lovely to take the dog for a walk round!
The play park for the children is good too - they have a little trampoline & swings & climbing frames and lots of open spaces around the pitches too.
The toilets are basic but clean and the showers are operated on a £1 for 8 mins basis.
My only complaint is that there is only 1 sink for washing up so would imagine this will get busy at peak periods but we didn't ever have a problem with this.
There is a pub up the road within walking distance - we didn't actually eat here but they had just open a new garden.
There is a windmill just outside the campsite too and we intend on visiting this on our next trip!

Excellent, well kept site with bonus attraction of idyllic well-stocked fishing lakes. Child friendly (one children's playground) and a friendly bunch of campers The welcoming managers were always on hand for advice & information and kept the place ticking smoothly over. Also very reasonably priced for all facilities.
We stayed for a very relaxing weekend over the last Bank holiday & although busy never felt crowded. Large pitches although very hard (apparently it was previously an old brick yard) so you will need lots of rock pegs. Shower & toilet facilities were immaculate, never once had to queue. £1 for 8 mins with warm water was more than enough. Plenty of electric hook-ups for all units. There is only one tent field next to the main site, although there is an overflow/rally field up the driveway leading to the site. There were certainly more caravans than tents, most of which were regular or stored there.
The site is quiet at night despite there being some larger groups - everyone was considerate with very little noise after 10pm. I would highly recommend this site for families & fishermen and would gladly go again. The only minor niggle was that they didn't have any recycling bins for bottles & cans - they are currently just thrown in with the rubbish.
Denver windmill is across the road. £5 approx. Per family for a tour inside (steep steps for anyone with vertigo!) On site tea-room serving good coffee & delicious cakes. The village is about 10 mins walk with a Pub & Post Office. Downham Market is a 10 min drive with supermarkets and shops. The Jenyns Arms at Denver Sluice is picturesque next to the sluice serving good range of food, a bit pricey though - £18 for a bottle of house red!

Stayed here during the 'Royal Wedding' Weekend. Excellent site. Owner was extremely helpful. Stayed on the rally field next to Denver Windmill which was a long walk from toilets on Main Site, although we had electric, water and waste though which was fine. Fish and chip van on Friday was a bonus! Denver Windmill is a gem, with gorgeous bread, etc, tea shop and gifts, and we paid £2 to go around the windmill which was well worth it. The owner was extremely interesting. Very reasonably price at £9 a night. Great for dogs too as there were plenty of walks nearby. Also plenty of choice of fishing lakes. Definitely return.

Very nice site I have been there before. Found the showers and toilets very clean, showers were £1 but nice and hot. Only down side was the amount of footballs being played with near caravans this was reported to the wardens but to no-avail. There is an area for children to play on but nowhere for playing football. Could be a really good site, fishing was good with well looked after lakes

Just back from an 8 night stay, lovely park, very helpful wardens. There is no shop, as such for essential food etc only one for camping equipment, but saying that there is a small post office in Denver village, and Tescos or Morrisons is only 5 mins by car in downham market.
Cannot comment on showers as use own in caravan, but I think they could do with more!
Only negative comment really is there are some residents on the park who complain about anyone having fun! I would suggest that they would be happier on a adult only park!
Would recommend this park to have a nice relaxing holiday, plenty of fishing and golf and lots of places nearby to visit.

Our first experience of camping as a young family and decided the week before to go camping on Bank Holiday weekend, hence not many sites to choose from! We went with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. The site wardens were very hospitable and welcoming and the site is extremely picturesque. We were given a pitch in the 'rally' field which was well populated but didn't feel at all crowded. We had a good pitch size and were able to pitch alongside our friends. We were a couple of minutes walk to the showers/toilets/washing up/play area/water tap. The site was very peaceful and in a stunning location.
The amenities were very basic but clean and we didn't have to queue for showers, toilets or washing up. The one pound for showers was more than enough (8 minutes) but more washing up facilities (just 1 sink) would be better.
Denver windmill was lovely and we spent a day with young kids exploring the local area and had drinks in a great local pub with garden, which was very good with friendly landlord and bar staff.
All in all a great first experience camping and we would go to this campsite again.

Stayed here over May Bank Holiday. This was our second visit to this very attractive site and it was as good as the first. Booked on-line, got a nice reply after day or so. Book by phone if you’re in a hurry.
Site entrance is on right just past a bend, and the sign a bit hidden so approach with care. New wardens this year (based on site): trying to run the site a bit more efficiently. You now book in and pay on arrival, and are given a pitch number and directions.
The site was full, but good space round pitches and did not feel cramped at all. There are three attractive fields planted with young shrubs and trees, two with large fishing lakes and the rally field which has a pond. Plenty of hook-up points all round.
A new tent only field with a fishing lake will open shortly (once the grass had dried out). Each lake / pond is well stocked with specimen fish, and has resident ducks (and ducklings at present). Most fishermen will be very happy here. There is a large proportion of seasonal campers some of which tend to have the lakeside pitches, but there is plenty of room left for tourers and tents.
Our pitch, against a hedge on the ‘Rally’ field was good; the field a nice area of grass with an extensive children's play area. Quite good all round for kids but supervision advised because of the lakes. The water tap was conveniently close. Rally field rubbish bin was the large commercial variety, but it still filled up quickly, although the warden came to check and empty it.
It was a 2-minute walk to the amenity / toilet block, with an Elson / waste water point en route. There were 3 ladies toilets which were clean and well stocked, but we did not use the showers which were £1. I did hear that there were queues for the showers however.
The site office was in this block, as was a pleasant social room, fitted out with cane chairs, a small library of books, and a pool table. At the back of this block there was a room with a washer / dryer, ironing board, and one washing up sink (could have done with more).
Denver windmill opposite was great, and very scenic in the sun, the guided tour interesting. The café/bakery was lovely, and we brought rolls and a jar of local jam for later. Denver village shop / post office stocked most things, but there was also Tesco and Morrisons in Downham Market. Denver Sluice complex was well worth a visit (the run-off water supplies Essex ), as was the nice little pub just over the sluice gate where we sat on the patio and watched the boats navigate the locks, and chatted to the boatmen. Good walks round the complex or into Downham Market..
Nordelph, and Outwell - very pretty villages on the riverside. Wisbech - approx 20 minutes drive, an old town with quays and shops; Ely – approx 25 minutes, lovely town with Cathedral and river; Kings Lynn - approx 20 minutes with good shopping and a pleasant old quay. Sandringham House and Country Park - approx 35 minutes and well worth a visit.
