Very good site. Nice new shower block. Had good evening fishing on one of their three pools. Very friendly staff. On site entertainment and bar. Kids enjoyed going in river and playing on park. Local attractions good. Had good day out at water mouth castle, kids loved it. Would go to this site again and have a go for some of the big carp in specimen lake

We visited in Aug 12 booked a week and stayed 10 days. Great little site. We were in the camping field close to the main road and some have marked the site down for this, we had blocked it out after the first night and didn't bother us for the remainder of our stay. Very welcoming and helpful people they couldn't do enough for you. We were right on the waters edge the 3 dogs loved it and so did the 2 kids lol. Drinks and food on site were very reasonable didn't get ripped off like these big sites. Food could do with being larger portions but they have to make a living and they were ok to see you through.
They really made us feel welcome and they loved our 3 big dogs so much so we are booking for 10 days with electric this year and with the price including 2 adults, 2 kids & 2 dogs absolute bonus no having to work it out to see if you can afford to stay like other sites £x for this £x for that. Ideal base to visit a number of seaside location.
Negatives
Paying for access gate card
One day out the 10 toilets had not been cleaned till late morning and just so happened that someone had been very ill the night before (if you know what I mean)

Spent Whitsun week at Riverside and came home totally chilled. The staff are all amazing and will do anything to help you. There are wooden patio benches on all pitches and we were offered an Wall's ice cream umbrella from the restaurant to use with the table as it was so hot. The campsite is beautifully laid out with excellent clean toilets and a new block opening for the Summer season. There is a playarea for the children with a sandpit in the shade for little ones. The river winds it's way through the site and we have swum in it and seen the odd trout. There are lovely walks past the fishing lakes and into the woods.
It is lovely to pull up on a Friday night after work and be able to have a fab meal and a drink on site. The food is all home cooked, tasty and very reasonable. There is a pool table in the entertainment area and singers throughout the season. The singer we heard was excellent. The music doesn't stop until 11. 15 but that is normal pub time. There is a small shop on site for basics and they will order you a newspaper if you let them know the day before.
The site is within walking distance of South Molton - 10 mins and is close to the coast and Exmoor. There is road noise but as the last reviewer said you do get used to it and it didn't bother us. This is the second year we have visited this site and will continue to do so. We think it is fab.

Found this site to be clean, tidy and dog friendly. We took our to grandchildren and they had a fantastic time playing in the stream and play area. Plenty of areas to walk our two dogs.
Toilets were very clean and always tidy. Annie's kitchen was very useful after walking dogs could pop in and get a tea or coffee. You can even get a meal on site, dogs allowed in on a lead, entertainment in the evenings yes you could here it in your tent but it was not a problem. Road was noisy but you get used to it. You can buy a swipe card for £5. 00 to get through the barrier but when handed back in you get £4. 00 back. I will be recommending to family and friends not to many though!
Grandchildren did not want to leave. We will be returning again soon. Excellent hospitality also.

We chose this site to keep our caravan in as it provides storage and is open all year round. We have made several visits and even stayed over Christmas. We cannot fault it. Even with the river bursting its banks for the first time in living memory we still found far more positive things to say.
It is a small site and must get very busy in the summer months but we are winter campers so this should not make any difference to us. However, there must be a shortage of toilet facilities as a second toilet block has just been completed. We have camped all our lives and feel we have a lot of experience of what is reasonable and what is not. I think some people just want something to moan about. I can't believe the comment about the toilets. If you find a wet spot YOU mop it up.
South Molton is a small market town but has everything you may require. North Molton has a good friendly Pub and there are several others in the area. With the rubbish weather we get you cannot expect anything other than boggy grass. Just keep off of it. We use the hard standing and find it suits our awning well. Looking forward to the rest of the year and the chance to get some fishing in.

Had 3 days at the end of August on this site, immaculate lovely clean site.
Toilet blocks, shower blocks all very clean.
Polly's Tea Shop served fantastic food, drinks quite reasonable too.
Bins on site emptied regular, really spotless.
Weather not good at all which meant the grass parts of the site where swamped and very muddy, but you cant choose the weather.
Would visit again if weather could be guaranteed.

Pro's:
Site very easy to find off the dual carriageway & easy access to all North Devon's attractions and beaches.
Site is tidy and well presented
Great food, probably their best asset - we had takeaway and prices were reasonable and food delicious
Large dog walk, plus extra fields to walk in
Well made, sturdy picnic benches - a real treat!
Good chip shop in South Molton (The Welcome Fryer)
Con's:
There is road noise (we knew before we booked but want other people to know). Friday nights are the worst which is probably the holiday traffic. Saturday night was better and noise was minor between 12am-7am.
Be warned about the pitches! You will notice from the site's webpage that the large premium hardstanding (which we booked - £30 a night) only have enough room for your unit. So your awning & everything inside your awning will be on grass.
The grass has very poor drainage in poor/wet weather so everything will get wet and will turn into a mud bath. If you want to ensure that you have a hardstanding for your awning you will have to book the RV pitch (all weather pitch) which we were not aware about until we reached the campsite - we just assumed a premium hardstanding would be large enough for us to put everything on, and not just be the width of a motorhome/caravan only.
Toilet block is modern but was not cleaned regularly enough. Site says it's checked twice a day, I went in the toilets at 7:45am this morning and there was a pool of mud/water across the whole vicinity of floor outside the showers - obviously no guests can be bothered to use the mop supplied by the site after they've showered. It was still like this at 9:30am when I visited again.
As a previous reviewer mentioned about a funny smell - we also could smell this and so could the pitch next door. Almost a gassy/silage smell, and it smelt like it was coming up through the grass.
**NB** - you don't need the £5 entrance fob if you're planning to go in and out of the site during hours when reception are open (till 7pm) we didn't purchase one and just asked reception to open the security gate when we arrived back on site.

We decided to stay in the Exmoor area for the August Bank Holiday and picked Riverside for our stay.
Our first issue arose when we were advised by friends that had already arrived that we had had to change pitches as the camping field was waterlogged. We were very relieved that we were able to change pitches but were quite concerned about the wet pitches which was an ongoing problem.
We were located close to the facilities - very useful for toilets, the shop and washing facilities. These facilities were very good and were cleaned regularly. The showers were beautifully warm and nice and powerful. However there was a shortage of showers/ toilets for the number of campers/ caravanners on site.
We were located close to an electronic point and was pleased to note that each pitch in our area had an electric and water point.
On the first evening we read through our welcome pack and were rather taken aback by the long list of regulations and rules. I can appreciate that there must be rules, but felt some were a bit excessive. Then found out about the extras, £5 for brick hire (luckily we brought our own)and £5 for a gate swipe card to name but a few.
On each of the nights that we stayed, entertainment was provided. Not quite our cup of tea but we were not against it being provided for those who wanted to take part. However it appeared that we had no choice. From our tent we could hear the whole thing, we thought that surely it wouldn't go on too late, after all it was a family campsite. We were very disappointed to discover that the live music in the marquee went on until at least 11:30pm and up to 11:45pm on one night. On the Saturday night there was a feature act. As it was a feature, many locals turned up too (sharing the campsite facilities). The drunken exploits of some of the audience continued until 2 in the morning.
When we arrived, the weather had been good, it rained some of the time we were there (can't blame anyone for that). However we were concerned with quite how waterlogged the ground was on a permanent basis. The worst drainage we have seen on a campsite.
In summary
Pros:
* well located for Exmoor and easy to find * clean facilities * good showers & toilets * good electrics and water supply * good refuse & recycling
Cons:
* not suitable for families - too noisy * no traffic time limit * no noise curfew * too many extras * felt like a purely profit making operation
We will not be returning I'm afraid.

Lovely site we now store our caravan there! Reasonable rates, lovely owners, we didn't notice noise from traffic or smells.
Small town with supermarket is only 3/4 mile away, easy access to attractions.
Food very nice and reasonably priced clean facilities
Loved our stay and going back this weekend.
I think most caravan parks have some level of entertainment noise and its all part of the fun I think, maybe that's just me?

Stayed over Jubilee weekend, site was almost full. Easy access, no problem to find. Site big with lots of hardstandings and loads of tent pitches with lovely lakes. Facilities clean but avoid pitches nearest as they belch out gas and made us feel quite unwell. ( Denied when raised with management. )
We were warned when we booked that the entertainment was on every night over the bank holiday weekend but that it would be done by 11 at the latest. This was not the case, and it was so loud we couldn't hear the tv in our van. Totally unnecessary.
Marquee a nice idea and good prices, food looked okay but we didn't eat there. Is quite a trek to S Molton and there's not really any nice pubs or places to eat, it was all a bit run down/closed and very disappointing.
£5 deposit for the gate fob that is non-returnable, per car, so be warned. Lots of big groups of people so did get noisy, especially at closing time, much shouting and loud swearing. On last day we watched a couple with a dog let it poo right outside the marquee where the kids were playing and then just walk off. Just about summed it up for us, would not go again.
