We stayed on this site for just 1 night as it was a stop off on our way up country. It is immaculate, the shower block was clean and had good facilities (didn't use the shower), and I was really impressed with the pitch, it was the best equipped of any site we've been to, it had its own water tap, electric hook up, table and bench set and a gravel area as well as grass, so you could barbecue easily if you wanted to.
We have 3 dogs and as there was no one camping in the big field by the river I could take the dogs in there, it was ideal for them and a real luxury to have a site where the dogs can run off the lead in a large enclosed area.
We are in a motorhome so it's not an issue to us, but the only thing I would say is a possible negative about this site is the road noise, I personally wouldn't want to camp in the field closest to the busy road, it seemed really noisy to me. Apart from that this site seems to have everything you'd need for a really enjoyable stay.

The motto for this site must surely be 'Exceed Their Expectations'
We arrived at three in the afternoon after an eight hour drive from Stockton-on-Tees, and were greeted by Nicky with a cheerful smile and offered any available pitch we liked as things were quietening down.
The hard standing was about twenty feet long and ten wide, also a very large grass pitch too for the awning, with large wooden picnic table on request and car parking. There was a stand at the back of the pitch with water, electric, and tv ariel hook-ups.
The toilets and shower block were second to none spotlesly clean and tidy, and so well appointed. Supermarket 5 mins away in old market town of South Molton. Exmoor 5 mins, Instow with its sandy beach is fabulous for the kids 15 mins, if it's surfing then Croyde is the beach for you at 25 minutes away.
The parkland is so beautiful with the river running through, the fishing, and a children's activity park too. There's a shop on site for incidentals, and tea room, (which wasn't open) so can't comment on this, but I'm sure it would be just as good as everything else on the site.
We will be going back next year for a longer stay.

1st impression of site, looks great, clean, nice size and layout. Shop well stocked for the kids.
My main disappointment was the ladies toilet block. Nice and modern, but not at all clean. They say they are cleaned twice daily, did not see it at all. Ran out of loo roll in all 6 toilets, and had to ask for bucket to clean the floor before entering shower, shower heads too high, water hits you straight in face, I'm only 5' not a nice experience.
Small takeaway/cafe on site, did not use, but prices looked reasonable.
Site was well into recycling all items, nice to see.
We were in a van, and found the road noise very loud and not stop. Not good if you are in a tent.
Site is a good base camp, for exploring the villages in the surrounding area.

What a fantastic site. We checked in early following a 5 hour drive, Nicky was very friendly, and we were shown to our pitch. We were pitched next the the fishing lake. We had 2 pitches, as we were 2 families, we had all the area to ourself. The kids loved it. Plenty of space, level pitches.
The toilet/shower facilities were 5*, no complaints. The washing up area outside, but very clean.
The cafe food is brill, cooked fresh to order, but well worth the wait.
The location is brilliant for visiting Devon or even just relaxing on the site and enjoying the sun, there is a Sainsburys 5 mins away which is fine for all your camping needs. The kids play area brill, along with the river, which the kids and adults love ( also dogs) Will be returning next year for a longer stay.

Very helpful on arrival shown to our pitch by man on quad. We were pitched on a corner of a path, when other pitches were available, with 2 kids felt I could have had a better pitch, but hey ho. Lovely open fields with river running through great for kids to fish from. Good playground. I found the facilities clean, however my husband was disappointed with the gents, they are modern blocks, however they weren't cleaned regularly enough. There was always a mop and bucket full of dirty water in the ladies, which was off putting. Nice shop on site. There was also a cafe on site however cannot comment as we did not use it. You get a key card for access to the site, paying £5 but you only get £4 back. Why not just put the site fees up a £1.

Very nice camp site with super huge pitches, could have easily fitted 2 trailer tents on the one site! Easy access to electric and water points. I liked the fact you could get a picnic bench located on your site, all you do is ask for one. The site owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. The site itself is very child friendly and has a well equipped play park only accessible by a little bridge over the river, however I did have some concerns regarding the river running through the site, but my children (4 and 9yrs) were sensible enough to stay away from it.
It is very close to the main road but our pitch was quite away from it and didn't hear much traffic noise at all. I think if our pitch was closer to the toilet block then it might have been a different story.
You had to pay £5 deposit for the car barrier key card but only get £4 back, not sure I agree with this charge.
It was a very quiet camp site, even in the middle of Aug it was well under half capacity for tents/caravans requiring electric etc. Plus there were extra camping fields without the electricity supplied with only 2-5 tents using it. There was a little tea room/takeaway and shop on site but we chose not to use this facility.
The shower/washing facilities were ok, bit grubby but this was due to the awful weather. We had incredibly hot showers the first day which completely put my children off using them, after that however they fluctuated between scolding and cold. There was never a queue for the showers and there was a bucket and mop available to wash down the shower floor. There were no private cubicles with a sink in them, which made the hand basins for washing hands etc a bit crowded a peak times, especially as lots of girls were intent on using hair straightners!
South Molton is a lovely town and I especially enjoyed poking round the different type of shops that you wouldn't normally get on a busy main high street. The cattle market on a Thursday was a treat and couldn't believe the price of a sheep! There was also a good flower/ food/ clothes/ bric-a-brac market on a Thursday which had some lovely gifts and jewellery stalls. Well worth a visit.
We chose this camp site mainly because of the close proximity to the Tarka Trail and for the cycle routes from Barnstaple. These were very family orientated flat cycle routes for everyone to enjoy. My 4 year old even managed to cycle 12 miles one day and 10 miles the next on stabilisers!
For travelling into Barnstaple I would recommend using the park and ride as this was only £1:50 for 2 or more people (upto 4) or £1 for one person. I thought this was very reasonable and was really easy to use. Saved battling through the traffic and finding car parks.
It is a good site for exploring North Devon.

We spent a weeks holiday here last august. The site is beautiful and in a beautiful area. The toilet and shower blocks could do with being cleaned and re-stocked a bit more often and during peak season a few more showers/ toilets would be a good idea.
The pitches were a good size and our daughter enjoyed the park and the river. The owners were really kind and helpful, shop stocked essentials and the small cafe/takeaway was very reasonably priced and the food was gorgeous.
The prices for the pitches were extremely reasonable and apart from the good old British summer (rainy) we all had a fab time.
We were in a tent and were near the road but the traffic didn't bother us at all. Even my partner who is a light sleeper said he wasn't bothered by it.
We would go back again, great site.

We stayed on this site for two weeks at the begining of August. Overall a lovely looking site. The pitched are very large and extremely well serviced (EHU, water, drain, TV). Although even the size of all the pitched didn't stop one very annoying person on an adjoining pitch parking his car right up against our tent/windbreak (within 12 inch!).
The toilets were modern but one thing that really put me off was the toilet seats which were all peeling and damaged, because they had used normal cheap domestic seats rather than commercial / heavy duty seats. Toilet roll also ran out frequently.
The showers (in gents) were very small and far too hot for me, which might be unusable for children. Also the shower cubicle just filled with water everywhere, including the bit outside the curtain where you are supposed to get dry. Very disappointed with the showers. For the remainder of the holiday we used the disabled shower room which was much better.
The toilet blocks were generally clean but the weather during our stay made that difficult.
There is a laundry on site but is very expensive. In fact the costs and the various charges they have became a bit of a running joke during the holiday as they charge for everything.
The kids (6&8) loved this site, they could ride their bikes around safely all day long and they loved the playground and river (although them advertising the river as having a sandy beach is a bit of a joke). We could sit comfortably and soundly at our pitch without having to worry about them. A very good site for kids.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, with the exception of the lad they employ to help out around the site. I was not at all impressed with him riding the site's quad bike at breakneck speeds around the kids playground area whilst loads of young children were playing, foolish and dangerous. We also had a problem with him taking over the playground late in the evening with the older teenagers and forcibly stopping younger children from playing.
All in all a bit of a mixed feeling about this site. Some things are very very good but there were quite a few things which spoilt it and stops the site from being excellent (for us).
Would we return. Maybe (but not for 2 weeks).

We stayed at this site at the end of may and through the first week of June and absolutely loved it. We have a large caravan which can make some sites difficult to get to and on site manoeuvring hard work but this one is really easy to find/get to and on site is spacious. Each pitch is hardstanding with grass for your awning, has electric, water and tv aerial hookup and your very own picnic bench. So much for such a small pitch fee.
Warm welcome on arrival and a shop that stocks basics and some things to keep the kids amused.
The river that runs through the site kept my son entertained for hours.
Toilet/shower block were clean. The showers are very hot which I like but may be an issue for children (mine didn't go much on them).
Swimming pool and Sainsburys just a mile or so up the road in south Molton.
There are barriers on site for entering and leaving which are activated by card (deposit required).
Please be aware when booking that it is right on the main road A361 and as such can be noisy through the day and evening. This didn't bother us as we were off site during the day.
Definitely recommend this site and liked it so much we booked a week in October while we were there.

We rung the site up to ask if it was possible to surprise our family who were on their way to the site and asked them not to inform them of our visit, they were most helpful and said that this would be fine. As we had accidentally met the family on the way to the site this did not matter and we all had a laugh about it on arrival.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the owners and told that we would only have to pay for ourselves an the car as our dogs would be treated as part of the family package. We were made very welcome by everyone, including their family.
The site was very well run and it was a pleasure for us to stay. The only fault I could find was that the showers were very hot but maybe there was a way of making them cooler that I didn't find out whilst there.
