This site is Fantastic!
Yes it's on a main road, it may be because I'm a townie that I don't notice it but I tell you what it's fantastically situated for getting around the whole of North Devon effortlessly. The site is immaculate and the facilities are second to none. Nikki & Joe are lovely and work very hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. There is also great food and entertainment in the swanky marquee at peak times of the year. The children's park is excellent and the river is there to be played in. As you have probably guessed I am a little biased and you would be right, I now leave my van here all year as it has everything we as a family need for quality time away. Across the carriageway is an absolute gem of a market village called South Molton, It has Pubs, Restaurants, Indoor pool, a park, Sainsbury's, Chip shop, Chinese take away and a local market. All this less than 2 minutes away by car. I can assure you all that the toilets are spotless and warm. All in all I have found nowhere better in North Devon to use as our base than this site, we love it!

Tent, 2 people, 1 car. £15 pn
This site is really well maintained and looked nice on first impression.
They have barriers which is good for security, however you have to leave a £5 deposit and we only got £4 back. Personally I don't agree with this as it didn't cost them £1 in electricity to let me out the gate then back in. Once!
There was noise from the road.
Toilets/showers and washing up facilities were spotless. The showers can be too hot at times.
The lady was friendly but forgot to tell us they have turned all the water points off. So I had to walk all the way to the office to find this out and when we wanted water had to walk a distance to get it.
On the phone the lady said the shops/pub were 5 minutes walk away, not the 10 minute drive that they actually were. This annoyed us as I explained to the lady we had a long hard day and both of us would like to relax and not drive. She assured us wrongly.
Shop was well stocked. They have a tearoom too which we didn't use.
They had a laundry room. I think at a cost of £3. 50 a wash and 50p 7 minutes drying. I probably wouldn't use this site again.

Overall I would say this is a good site, that I might possibly visit again. It was more 'preened' than the usual sites we go for, shop, takeaway, marked pitches and modern toilet block etc.
The security barrier was a first for us, so not sure if part of the deposit is always kept on such sites? The toilet block was modern and clean, but the showers were way too hot at times with no way to adjust them, I resorted to washing my 4 year old in the laundry room sink!
The play area was a bonus and the kids loved it, but the river was a slight worry as it is fast in places. The road noise was audible, but not a major issue for us, but would have been had we been on the other side of the river.
We used the takeaway once and it was okay to save cooking on the first night. The tearoom and entertainment we did not use, but the shop was a handy bonus.
All staff were courteous and helpful, recommending a beach for us to visit.
We found the location to be handy for visiting lots of attractions, tarka trail, lynton/lydmouth, Ilfracombe etc. All in all a pleasant holiday and site.

We had a good time even the weather wasn't it's best. The shower block is ok. The kids had a great time swimming in the river.
The site is really nice and good size pitch with everything you need. We like the dog walking area.
There are nice places to visit as the site location is in the middle of devon. The clubhouse is frendly and good for the whole family to enjoy. Even though the site was full it is still peaceful.
There is a supermarket only five minutes drive into south molton. The people are very friendly and helpful. We will be going back there again soon.

We booked this at last minute and I thought the pitch price for a super pitch with water waste tv point etc was very competative and booking was efficient.
We knew about the location obviously before we went (besides a major road) being a deep sleeper I didn't think it would bother me but I didn't realise quite how busy the road was plus being peak season there was more traffic than normal I suspect. I found it very tedious and annoying and we were in a caravan, basically the only time its quite is between 1am - 5am all other times there's is a heavy annoying loud drone from the traffic we couldn't leave our windows open due to this it was very off putting and it would deter me from staying there again, we were at the furthest point from it and I think the tent occupants near the river nearest to it didn't sleep atall from what they were saying it was very loud.
The showers fared badly in my view, for a 55+ pitch site there were 2 mens showers and 4 ladies showers every morning I queued with up to 4 in the queue at any one time definitely inadequate for the site size to improve this they need at least another 4 mens and 2 - 4 ladies showers it just couldn't cope with the demand.
The showers themselves although modern were probably the worst campsite showers I have used as previous reviews very pokey everything including clothes got saturated, the worst thing for me was the drainage basically the cubicles next door water flooded through the gap into your shower and vice versa so you had other peoples dirty water in your cubicle. They had shower curtains also which were annoying. The push button lasts for about 5 seconds.
The toilets ran out of loo roll as did the soap dispenser and the soap wasn't replenished for 3 days, basins covered in hair etc I just think they couldn't cope with the amount of users very disappointed.
Great kids play area my daughter loved it but its over a bridge across the river although its fenced off, the shop has very bare essentials at very inflated prices but lots of pick and mix sweets and toys for the children.
The site didn't drain very well so everything was boggy by the time we left our awning carpet was soaked and everything smelt of damp as we were on a slope but I did notice they are starting to put pea gravel on the newer pitches which will help.
Had takeaway chips from Aunt Pollys very nice hot and good price menu looked very appealing they have bingo quizzes etc however the cabaret singer was very loud !
Staff friendly good local knowledge, security barrier cards issued on arrival, small litter facility but emptied regularly. Owners on site. Sainsburys in South Molton but apart from that there is nothing in walking distance
To improve this site they need duck boards made available to resolve the drainage issues or pea gravel installed on pitches, extend the shower facilities but I wouldn't stay again due to the road noise it spoilt it for me

We arrived in pouring rain and were made very welcome with a complementary drink.
Staff were very friendly and helpful best we have been to.
The site was well maintained during the busy period but after bank holiday not as well.
We knew the location but did not realize how busy a road. Being a light sleeper I did not sleep all week. You could not see the road but it was loud all day and night.
Lovely riverside location with park and play area and good area for the dogs.
Very busy over bank holiday and not sufficient toilets to cater. Thankfully we could use the caravan all well. These were kept reasonably clean but not up to 'Loo of the year standard'
Good sized pitches although grass long. Tent pitches quite water logged but they put sand down and were very helpful at sorting.
Entertainment was on all weekend which is great if you were attending. We were at far side of site and could hear in our caravan with the TV on. It didn't stop to 11. 40pm one night. Other than that it was quiet when everyone left on bank holiday Monday.
All in all a good site but due the road noise we could not go back again.

Booked this site for a week, facilities sounded great, good base for driving round the local area, and had children's play area for my three year old daughter.
When we arrived on the Saturday I was asked to sign the booking form as I had paid in full over the phone a few week before.
We were shown to our pitch by a young lad on his quad bike, he had a sign on the back of his bike saying all tips appreciated. Very enterprising, made me smile and I tipped him so it worked.
Pitch good, full electrics, water point and waste point, made life so much easier, good value for money too.
Went and had a look at the shower block, nicely done out but at 3pm it was not clean, loo paper all over the floor etc. Didn't go back again, used shower in caravan.
We were there at the height of the season so it did feel a little crowded. Our pitch also next to a walkway to the shower block and steps, not great for privacy.
Kids playground was great but to get there daughter had a long walk to the camping field over the river by bridge, didn't feel able to let her go on her own whilst I watched her, too far away and the river was always a worry. Also kids playing football in the play area hit daughter with ball, knocked her confidence a bit, was a total accident though.
I now notice other comments about the road noise and I wish I'd taken more notice before booking. In the height of summer this is extremely loud, it also starts very early and doesn't stop until late into the night. We were in a pitch away from the road too, goodness knows what it was like in the camping field.
On the plus side the entertainment is a bit of good fun, I highly recommend the food at Aunt Pollys and the staff/family try really hard, what let's the site down is position and I guess there is nothing that can be fine about that.
In the end we moved site after a few days, cut our losses and moved on. When I handed our security key back I got £4 back of the £5 I had paid, it's the site policy but it just seems weird and a bit petty. Why not just add another £1 to the bill?

I have got to say we were really disappointed with the site. We booked mainly due to the reviews on the UK Campsite website.
The pitch sizes were really quite cramped and we were shown to our pitch by a child who obviously expected a tip. He said to use a hook up on the board but there were no spaces on it. I questioned this, but he rode off on his quad bike! So we went to the shop, but no one was there. When we managed to track someone down they did add an adapter so we could hook up.
One of my main annoyances was the barrier situation. They requested £5 for a pass card to get into the site but only refunded £4. Out of principle we refused to pay to get to our tent! Early one morning I had to go out to get some milk for the kids to the nearest town as the shop was still not open.
When I returned to the site there was no one around and the phone wasn't answered so I had to leave my car outside as could not get through the barrier. On the day we left there was a huge pile of dog poo behind our tent! I appreciate that this not the park owners fault but the fouling rules need to be enforced more stringently
The noise from the A361 is relentless, we had to use earplugs as the site is so close to the road. It's a shame as the site looked so promising

This was suggested to us by a friend so we thought we would take a look for ourselves. When you drive in and upto the barrier I was impressed by the look of the site everything seemed nicely spaced out.
So out pops the Mrs into reception to get our plot. In we go, the plots have a drain, for waste water, your own tap and electric point, the hard standing is a fantastic new tarmac and in a fairly good level. I did look around and there are some slopes byut nothing drastic.
Kids loved the playground and the river kept them quiet for ages
The showers and toilets were great (shower is a push button and auto stop could do with a tad longer before it turns off) but they were very clean 2 showers in the mens and (apparently I didn't go in) 4 in the ladies, sinks and electric points for washing and shaving.
Not a lot to do this time of year but in the high season there is to be entertainment on site which will be a added bonus.
Close to many lovely sites
We were so impressed we are going back again end of August for a week
As a note some people have said about the traffic yes it can be heard but personally it didn't bother me

Excellent site. On arrival David helped put up awning as my partner was recuperating after major operation, now that's what I call service. Admittedly near to road but no problem. Pitches are really good size. Site roads tarmaced after Easter. Site expanded since last August but not too much.
Facilities are excellent, clean showers & toilets, grass on pitches mowed almost daily and site kept very clean, the picnic tables on the pitch are nice touch. Staff are all very helpful & friendly. Lovely dog walk through woods and they are allowed to play in river - much appreciated when we were there as weather very hot. Nice enclosed children's' playground.
Excellent pub for drinks & food just down the A361 (turn right out of site) on first roundabout - Northern Gate. Best Chinese ever, Hungs, in South Molton & good fish & chip shop too. Sainsbury's five mins drive from site. South Molton is lovely. On A361 so no problem getting anywhere. Exmoor only short drive away.
Papers can be ordered from shop and Aunt Polly's Tea Room on site is really good, food is fresh and cooked to order. Secure site with gate pass. Had to get caravan service engineer out - bathroom tap split due to cold winter. He didn't arive until 9. 00p. M but was immediately shown to our pitch by Hamelin. No problem at all. All in all, the alround best site we have had the pleasure to stay on.
