What a fantastic campsite. The staff were very friendly. The toilet block and showers were the best I've ever seen in a campsite. They were immaculate and the showers were hot too. Very good site all in all. The girls loved the river that flowed through the park. There was a good area to exercise the dog too. It is a very good base to explore the rest of north Devon.

This is a wonderful site! the staff are incredibly helpful, the pitches are a good size, with your own picnic bench for each pitch. Good shower block & toilet facilities. Under cover washing up area. Nice little park, lovely surroundings, ideally located for other parts of Devon to visit. Cant big the place up enough! will definitely return there again with my 3 children (all under 12yrs)
LOVE IT!

This was our first week away in our caravan. We picked this site for the easy access and good pitches. We were not disappointed. It was very easy to find and the access just off a main A road was great. We did hear car noise, but it didn't spoil the campsite.
We had a great pitch, loads of room and a our own picnic bench. The people that worked there were very helpful and couldn't do enough. The showers and toilets were great and very clean. There was a shop, but it opened at odd times and not to a timetable. I think this was due to the site not being very busy, only about 5/6 families.
The play park is really good, but you cross a bridge to get to it and it may not be suitable to let young children go on their own. As they could wander into the river between the two areas. The play area is fenced off, so once in there with parental supervision it is fine. My daughter is 9 so she had no problems.
The only thing I found strange is they give you a key card and you pay £5 deposit, but only get £4 back! Why do they not just include it in the fees? There is no mention of it when you book and you have to have a key card, very strange. Also when we wanted to leave it took one of the workers about 20 mins to locate someone to give us our deposit back. They knew we were leaving so why didn't they have it ready.
The site is still being developed with wooded walks etc being developed. I would return to this site as it was lovely.

The start of our three days at Riverside wasn't particularly good. We arrived to find the reception shut, with a notice to phone a mobile number, which was turned off. Luckily someone let us through the barrier and we were able to get set up and a couple of hours later we are able to properly book in.
The site didn't really seem to be finished to me, the tarmac roads are partly finished and parts of it still the base layer of tarmac (big bump up kerb to get onto hardstanding), same goes for pitches. Some of the finished pitches had holes in them where caravans have put corner steadies down.
The toilet/shower blocks were fine, although the windows were left open every night with the lights on, so when you went in the morning there were loads of bugs in there. I started shutting the windows myself at night after the first night.
I found the road noise intrusive, there are no places to eat within walking distance. I also thought it was a bit of a cheek to have to pay £5 deposit for a barrier key so you could come and go, but you only get £4 back when you leave!
The site is generally well kept, the grass was cut twice in the three days we were there, and the river is very nice.
There are clearly visitors who have really liked the site, but it didn't really appeal to me.

Excellent facilities, with hook up, water and waste on each pitch. Level hard standings were useful. Friendly hosts and well stocked shop. Head right, out of the gate to a beautiful ride thro the lovely Exmoor, nice little villages, streams, picnic areas. The Inn, 1/4 mile up towards Barnstaple is highly recommended for a family meal treat. Toilet block was always clean, and the facilities coped well with a fairly full site. Easy to find, (we took junc 27 from M5). The lower part of the site, where my son's family camped, was a little noisy from the passing main road traffic at night, but we were at the higher part of the site, and were not affected. We would like to visit again.

We were a family of 4 and visited for 6 nights at the end of August. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. The whole family were friendly and kind, but not at all intrusive. I was very impressed by the shop, which although not big seemed well thought out and to have everything you might need. The prices were also very fair and, for example, calor gas was much cheaper here than in South Molton itself.
The facilities on the campsite were excellent and pristine, with clean toilets and showers and a good launderette. I would reiterate what a few other reviewers have said. Firstly, the small field leading to the 'Camping Field' was boggy by the time we left and my sister-in-law's car needed a push out of the mud by a group of us at one point, although in fairness the weather was particularly bad with 5 rainy days out of 6. Strangely, the camping field itself did not get muddy, which was more important in practice. Secondly, if you're intending to spend most days at the beach then the site is a reasonable drive away.
Having said that, this was a very well maintained site with friendly owners, dry pitches and a beautiful river running through it.

On first impressions, the site was well laid out. Staff very friendly and accessible - reception and shop were open most of each day. We chose a riverside location, but it turned out to be a bit soggy. I think the pitches were a bit small for a decent sized tent (eg 6 berth), meaning that the neighbours butted right up to us. Near the river also means near the busy A361 road and that noise was there all day and most of the night - we all found it rather intrusive.
Toilet/washing/shower block was very clean and tidy, and sufficient showers and toilets meant rarely having to queue. Only three washbasins though - and one mirror in the Gents. Closing at 10pm to midnight for cleaning seemed crazy to us - exactly when you want to go for that last pee of the night!
A dog friendly site, with good dog walking facility and plenty of poo bins. No facility for letting your dog off the lead though.
Overall, a good site but marred by traffic noise and toilet closing time.

The site is well situated for all needs. Clean and well kept. Good fishing lakes and play area now completed.
Also, now offering Exmoor safaris at a very reasonable price which we took advantage of. We had a fantastic time on our half day tour (3 hrs) but Dave our guide was out for nearer to four with no extra charge! He went out of his way to ensure that we all seen everything that he spotted and put our thoughts first every time. He was also very patient and helpful allowing loads of time for us to stretch our legs and take lots of great photos!
We could not recommend the safari high enough, it was the highlight of our holiday!

toilets were first class, children loved the playground although small children of all ages used it. Nicky and family who owned the site could not do enough for you.
Places we visited that were lovely were Lynmouth & Lynton, Cheddar gorge, clovelly, and for the best award winning beach Woolacombe but get yourself a body board as everyone is doing it on Woolacombe beach and we tried it for the first time and became addicted.
The fish and chip shop in south Molton do great fish and chips. The place we ate near the campsite did great food average prices but large portions cant recall the exact name but we think it was called northam gate or something but worth a visit.
We could hear the noise a bit from the road but did not bother anybody.
We did go in the stream on couple of occasions and the kids loved it.
This is a great base for exploring Devon and Somerset and we will be returning in the future.

Riverside was very easy to find and we were met by a warm and friendly reception. We were directed onto a level hardstanding and settled in. The site is very well kept, each pitch having a grassed area with a picnic table, electric hook up, water tap, tv ariel point and waste water drain. The shower and toilet block were exceptionally clean with regular monitoring and there was also a well equipped laundry room. The site shop is well stocked and open from 8.00am til 9.00pm most days and there is a children's play area in the camping field which also has a river winding through it. Despite its proximity, the road certainly didn't intrude on a most enjoyable visit. The site is ideal as a base for exploring the N.Devon coastline and is also very near to beautiful Exmoor. Well done to Joe, Nicky, Mark and Lucy. We will be back!
