I arrived on the Thursday with my 18yrold son, on the Saturday my partner and a friend joined us. On the bank holiday Monday we took my son and friend home and picked up our 11 and 4yr olds, we then stayed until the Thursday (was due to go home on the Tuesday!) Everyone from our 4yr old to us 'grown ups' had a great time,
We were all made to feel so welcome we will be returning next year without a doubt. The site was clean as were the toilets/showers.
The pub itself was extremely welcoming and the food served was tasty and mostly home made, the real chips were great and made from the spuds grown in neighbouring fields, as is most of the veg served, how fresh!
I have to admit I have stayed at sites with more facilities and 'posher' toilet/shower blocks but have paid for it! at £11. 50pn with hook up its cheap and cheerful. We only wish we had a caravan so we could book in for the new years eve party as I bet its a cracker!
All staff were helpful, even giving reviews on local places to eat! I must give a mention to daz is doing a great job of running the place.
Other reviews have mentioned the bugs and wasps, they could be annoying but when you are in the countryside you expect that. As for the complaint about it being in the middle of nowhere, I personally look where a campsite is before I book and why would you want to camp somewhere built up!
When we booked we were told they could not guarantee electric hook up, but when we did arrive they did all they could to help and we ended up with hook up for the whole week.

We have just spent 6 nights here taking advantage of the camping offer in The Sun newspaper.
Overall a good trip, and I would use it again as it's in a good central location.
A very friendly place and there are a quite a few residents, who we were near and apart from them we had the bottom end of the field to ourselves.
The toilet block is small, but I never had to wait to use it and there is only one washing up sink, which did get busy.
There were lots of dog owners on site, and the kids loved playing with the dogs (as we don't have any), but the grass was clean and free from mess.
The pub was good, as was the food, there is a small park and a tv/pool room.
The negatives were although central, there is nothing in the area itself of any interest, wasps and the cockerel at 4. 30am(take your ear plugs).

Just got back from a very relaxing break at this camp site. Can't really complain about the facilities as they were certainly value for money - £9 per night for a pitch (no hook up) the size of which was not restricted!
Toilet block (2 toilets and 2 showers) was a bit of a mess when we arrived but they got their act together and it was 'spring cleaned' thoroughly from floor to ceiling (although it took the best part of 4 days!). Constant (very) hot water though which is all you need really. Place to wash your dishes outside also. No apparent facilities to freeze ice blocks though.
The pub itself is nice enough - has few pool tables, patio area and a kids playground. They have a few guest real ales to add to the usual suspects and it does food. We ate their twice and kept getting asked if it was 'the bar menu' we wanted to order from - not sure whether there was another separate menu but the only one we saw had 2 sides to it - but both were pretty limited basic pub grub but with very decent home-made chips! Saturday night it curry and quiz, and Friday night is Karaoke.
Bad points is that it in the middle of no-where with literally nothing around for miles - the nearest Tesco/Budgens is in 4 miles away in Holbeach and you have to cross the very busy A17 to get to it. Great relaxing base to visit the surrounding area though.
There place has a gazillion different type of flies and wasps and there was a dawn chorus/competition from the neighbouring chickens to wake you up!

We arrived on site the 1st day we collected our 1st caravan. What a fantastic introduction to weekends away with the family.
The site itself was spacious and clean with a very friendly pub at the opposite end. Our Children loved the Swings and Slides and we made the most of the Beer Garden.
Unfortunatley the day we arrived the Landlord was admitted to hospital so things were a little disorganised in the Pub. However the rest of the staff and family mucked in and one of the locals organised a quiz night.
We were really made to feel a part of the community.

Visited The Rose and Crown for Whit week. We were greeted by very friendly staff. There were over 20 of us all camping in tents with hook ups. We had a good mix of children and adults. The staff were very obliging, they loaned us a hook up extension to reach one of the tents.
There was always plenty of hot water, and fresh water.
Some previous comments have complained about the shower and toilet facilities. We all found them to be very adequate, with new mixer showers fitted. My only gripe has to be one of the locks on a shower door was'nt working. But with so much usage what can you expect. Overall the blocks were tidy and cleaned on a daily basis.
The pub serves fantastic ales and has a restaurant. It also has a pool table. Adjacent to the pub is the games room. It has a pool table and dartboard, and some tables so adults can supervise the kids whilst trying out the tasty servings from the pub.
This is a very child friendly site with a small playpark in the garden. It provides a fantastic place for adults also to unwind. It is a lovely place.
There's also so much to do in that area of Lincolnshire. Or you could head to the West facing beaches on the East coast of Norfolk.
Try it I think you'll like it, we all did.
Look forward to returning in August.

This was our first 2 night Easter break at the Rose and Crown that turned into 5 nights. The 2CV rally in the field next door was an added extra to an enjoyable weekend.
Great bunch of people, friendly and encouraging to participate even without a 2cv! No noise and all family friendly.
Everyone on site and in the pub really friendly, showers hot, food good and the whole atmosphere is just so relaxing.
Baz and his crew were helpful and welcoming, making sure you had all you needed, checking on your well being everyday. This was a genuine call to see if you were ok, not to check on you.
Will be returning.

Visited Easter weekend for our very first time, which will not be our last. What a fantastic welcome we got from the inimitable Baz (who had his birthday all weekend 66 clickety click).
Booked only one night, but turned up early due to phone friendliness, and stayed 2 nights.
Site facilities basic, but spot on. Pub is the hub of the site - great meals, great welcome, and great time was had by all.
A very good family orientated site. We will be back.

Just got back from our first visit to The Rose and Crown this year, again a wonderful welcome and very clean and welcoming site with a basic shower room and loos but having everything that you need for a camping or caravanning break with the addition of a super little pub with great food.
Decided to stay for Sunday lunch having heard about the roast beef which was fab but hubby had the steak and ale pie, home made with lashings of gravy - first class.
Not only are you made to feel very welcome there is a real informality about the site which ensures you relax from the moment the steadies hit the deck.
Counting the days to our next visit

The pitch we had was a non-electric, these were available, the locality is typically flat and on a clear day you can see for miles.
The facilities were being upgraded but available was a shower block, waste disposal, and washing-up stand.
The land was very well maintained and with plenty of room for children to run about.
The Rose & Crown pub was well established with a beer garden and play area outside.
Inside the decor was a little rough, but clean.
The food and service, in my opinion, were well above the average, the atmosphere at night was very good and the locals very welcoming, be prepared to do a Karaoke.
If the facilities are improved as we were told, even in its current state, we thoroughly recommend the Rose & Crown as a place to stay, but not if you prefer a quiet tranquil refuge.
Nearby is the town of Spalding with a large garden center, just off the A17.
The Wash is close by, excellent for birdwatching and walking.

This was our first visit to the campsite and it did take us a while to find it as it is a little tucked away from the main road and situated at the other end of a quiet village. The pub itself is painted a lovely bright yellow so it’s easy to see. We were greeted by Baz who made us very welcome and showed us where to pitch and offered his assistance if we needed it, the site itself is pretty flat and lots of electric hook ups.
The showers were as clean as they could be but the weather was a little grim at times so a bit of mud on the floors is to be expected. They are cleaned every morning. The washing up facilities is outside at the moment and lacks a canopy or some other idea if its raining but there is plenty of hot water.
The pub is a proper local type pub with real ale and guest ales. The food is awesome and 99% of it is homemade by the tall guy (Daz). I would definitely recommend this site, the staff cannot do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble.
There are no rules on this site, the only thing they ask is to respect other campers which is enough really. We would definitely go again and the prices are very reasonable (£26.00) 3 nights with a hook up.It’s a pretty new site and they are improving it all the time.
