We have had the most welcoming 4 days at this site. We arrived on Wednesday as part of my partners birthday celebrations to find that it was really the 'unnecessary tall Chap' in the kitchens day off - but he came in and cooked us a very tasty meal - the Chips at the Rose and Crown are real and delicious.
The site itself is very clean and tidy with the ongoing expansion not interfering with our visit at all (new additional showers) Ladies when you read this you should now have 'two' showers so no queuing I believe it is the same for the gents. Be ready to join in any functions being held in the pub as you are made to feel really welcome by the locals and other campers alike. There is a new room 'The Shed' with wall mounted flat screen TV, Pool table to keep the kids happy (OK we are in our 40's and made good use of The Shed)!

I had organised an Easter Camp for my fellow 2CVers, and picked the Rose and Crown mainly for the fact it was a local campsite with pub attached.
We were not fully prepared for the wonderful time we had; Kelvin, Janet, Darren and Baz were wonderful hosts - nothing was to much for them.
They were happy to accommodate over 50 of us, and serve up to 15 at a time for a 'full English' breakfast - bargain of the year for a fiver - beautifully cooked and so tasty.
The Elgoods beers were superb, all the food yummy (particular praise for the treacle pud), and the hosts great company.
OK, the site loo/shower block was basic, but it's a campsite, not Butlins! The water was always hot, and the loos clean, with a useful outside washing up area. The plentiful hook-ups and chemical loo emptying point an unexpected, but useful feature on a pub camp site.
The karaoke was not to be missed, but not always because the singing was good!
We hope to be back 'en masse' again soon.

Just this minute unpacked from a 2 night stay at the Rose and Crown campsite. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. The pub was full of atmosphere. Very good hand pumped ale. The food was home cooked.
The Campsite was flat and we had electric hook up, which is always our first priority, (being over 50 we like our creature comforts).Another plus was not having to put coins in the 'shower'. However, the toilet facilities were very basic. No hand dryers, a trickling shower before and after it was switched on.
The surrounding area was lovely and we got a taxi into the local town of Holbeach on Saturday evening.
Would we go back again ? Yes but I would be better prepared shower wise.

We visited this site for 3 nights and were greeted warmly by the staff who had phoned us the previous day to warn us that due to illness there would only be a limited menu on the day of our arrival. We ate in the pub and the food was fine. The beer was well kept and well priced. The toilet block is dated but clean and the owners assure us that updating is in their plans. A good base for touring the area. We would definitely return.

We arrived about 1.30 on Sunday afternoon and decided to eat in the pub eatery before putting up the tent. The food is excellent, (cooked beautifully by Darren the tall), and very reasonably priced. There was a christening on when we arrived but we were sorted with a lovely Sunday lunch very quickly.
The site itself is basic but so is the price, just £7 a night with an extra £2 for electric hook up. The toilet / shower block is small and a bit dilapidated but very clean and there is loads of hot water, my only complaint is that it could use a couple of hooks by the sinks to hang towels on whilst washing.
The area where we put the tent up is a bit open to the elements so was very windy, however there has been a number of shrubs planted which will provide shelter when they grow a bit.
There is not a lot in the immediate area but there are a lot of attractions in fairly close proximity and we were treated to a DC3 and a Spitfire flyby presumably because the Battle of Britain Museum is close by.
Now, the down side, unless you are slightly insane don`t use the pub. We went in on our first evening on site to pay the site fees and ended up getting a little tipsy thanks to Barry the barmy barman. Seriously though, although we knew nobody in the pub, which was quite crowded, we were laughing and joking with everybody very quickly. This place is very definitely run by a bunch of 'characters'. Improvements are in the pipeline for next season and we will be back for sure.

I'd like to give this site a big thumbs up. We went with another family and we had a great time. This site allows you to really camp properly. If you don't want to be a real camper you may not like it here but if you are up for a challenge you will enjoy this site. The site has a shower block which the owners are hoping to update but it is clean if not modern. The on site pub is great and all the staff are friendly. We have already decided that we will be going again next summer.

Arrived at this site on bank holiday Monday, when most people were leaving so missed the party atmosphere previous reviews enjoyed. Reasonable at £10 + £2 EHU per night. Small rural site with no local shops, relaxed regime. A small site at the side of the pub so good for a drink or a meal. Good cafe/farm shop on the A17. Very friendly, helpful owners, including other campers. Toilets and showers cleaned every day, but still very basic and need replacing. Waste bins overflowing after the weekend, some dog pooh near the bins for 2 days. Loads of hot water at the outside sink for washing up. A few swings where the younger children gathered. A few old statics housing farm workers. Good area for walking but not much else. Difficult when towing to turn right onto the A17, so turn left to roundabout, about 2 miles. Overall a pleasant 2 days, but unlikely to return.

We stayed from 14th to 23rd of August and had a great time. Everyone is really friendly and helpful.
The toilets are kept clean and there was always hot water in the shower when we had one.
The kids enjoyed the playground facilities and we enjoyed the beer! The grub was very good as well.
The Karaoke evenings are good fun to listen to and everyone has a great time.
The local area is very quiet and it is ideal for a quiet break away from it all!
The nearest big shops are in Holbeach where there are two supermarkets. Although there is a small shop in a nearby village that we also used.
There are lots of farm shops and local produce stalls as well selling fresh fruit and vegetables.

We have just arrived back from this site and it has been lovely, the owners are very nice, the pub and grounds including the campsite are lovely, the shower block is basic but nice, it has 1 shower and 3 toilets, the washing up area is also basic with only one sink, the locals that use the pub on a regular basis are lovely and friendly on the whole I would return to this camp site in the near and distant future as the owner was telling us how he wants to update the site, while we were there there was a first birthday party with lots of activities around and they invited my children and nieces and nephews to enjoy the bouncy castle and sumo suits, they are brilliant with the children and have swings and stuff for the kids. The only down fall of the site were the wasps they were all over in the daytime but that was something with the whole area and not just the site as the site owners were trying to combat the wasps and we just put pop bottles out with some pop in the bottom and holes in the side and made our own wasp catchers
