Overall a nice, peaceful site. We had a tent and the pitch was a decent size although quite sloping and a longish walk from the toilet block especially with young children. The toilets were clean but there was only one shower/bathroom and one washing up station which meant there was quite a bit of waiting involved and really doesn't seem enough for the number of pitches. The pitches are alongside a river although sadly the river and bank is out of bounds to campers. There is a swing hanging from a tree but otherwise no children's play area. In a good spot for accessing the beautiful surrounding countryside and coast.

Lovely little site, the facilities are 'quirky' ~ a static caravan complete with kitchen; lounge with TV & video, books and games; together with a bathroom~ £1 donation for using the shower or bath. There are two further toilets outside- complete with flowers around the doors.
The location is peaceful and quiet but is a bit of a trek to get anywhere unless you drive. Pleasant walk into Warkworth though.
The owners are really friendly and helpful.

Our 1st visit to Walkmill this year and the weather was horrible. But the campsite has seen some improvements.
The chemical toilets that were in the wooden 'huts' have now been replaced by proper ones, the pitch immediately on the left next to the static has a bit more room as the path that ran behind it has been removed.
One loss is the large trampoline that the our kids spent hours and hours playing on each time we went last year. Apparently it was being abused and so has been removed before an accident occured.
As usual a nice cheery welcome from Claire, the site although full as it was a bank holiday weekend was still nice and quiet.
Amble market still has a very nice butchers there and Amble itself has had the harbour side area revamped with new shops and so forth, all looking very good.

Wonderful spot. simple. clean. neat and tidy. facilities good. If you want loud music, drink and someone to put everything infront of you don't bother going. easy commute to local villages and easy journey to everything Northumberland has to offer, BEACHES, CASTLES, HILLS, HISTORY, FISH AND CHIPS. Will return next year.

What a fabulous site.
Nice and quiet, tidy, good size pitches and Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Set well away from main road so the only background noise is the sheep and birds.
Within easy reach of Walkworth, Amble and Alnwick.
Ideal location to use as a base for discovering the beautiful Northumberland countryside.
Will definitely be returning.
Highly recommended.

I head straight for the toilet block, always. Spotless, and thoughtful too, with liquid soap and a clean hand towel in the separate loo.
Staying more than one night, we would have used the bath - there's an honesty box for the suggested contribution.
Wild camping for years, in remote places, long before staying at any camp site, hygiene is the absolute priority.
The kitchen was first rate, especially being able to make toast, and the up to date range of local information, TV and DVDs available in the caravan too
We came as a couple, but talked to family groups whose children were enjoying the playground.
We chose this site because of its peaceful location, and didn't want a pub or shops on the doorstep.

Fab Site, quiet and basic with stunning scenery all around. Lovely part of Northumberland. Lots of space and tent pitches are spacious. Helpful staff too. The facilities could do with another couple of showers. One bathroom for showering and bathing is not enough for size of site and means long wait. Will defo return.

Our second visit in the second year. Again we were happy campers. As a family of four with a family tent and a preference for small to medium sized sites, we cannot ask for much more than a lovely Green in nice nature (by a stream) next to sheep, with a luxurious camper for facilities like fridge, sofa, real shower. The downside, if there is one, is that facilities, while tidy, are limited in number. There is no potential for growth, so it better not grew.

Arrived back from Walkmill 4 days ago, and we absolutely loved it. Great wee site, especially if you like quiet and peaceful, relaxation and great views. Road was a little tricky, but would`nt say it would be a problem to experienced caravanners. We were booked in for 3 nights and ended up staying 6, and even at that we would have stayed longer if we could of. Ideal for surrounding towns and Berwick only 30 mins drive. Alnwick nearest town with a variety of supermarkets, shops, cafes etc, we were regular visitors to Lidl there. Static caravan is a great idea for those needing to use showers and yes there is a bath too, which came in handy with our 5 yr old grandaughter. Was lovely to just go over and sit in the lounge as was so peaceful, with only the bleating sheep and lambs, birds. We will def be back here, a gem of a site, Nic and Claire, the owners, are very accomadating and were happy to help with anything. Nic even let us pick raspberries as the good weather spell had them in full bloom. Cannot wait to return to walkmill

Just spent a perfect week at this lovely site. As stated ny other reviewers, the site has everything you need and the owners are very attentive and kind. The directions given were very good and avoided a fast flowing ford on one route from Warkworth.
We fell in love with Amble and upwards along the Northumbrian coastline and this site is perfectly situated. From the many static caravan parks in the area and the few touring parks that we saw, we were really pleased that we chose Walkmill. The space between caravans is very good and if you are adventurous, there are pitches down the hill by the river without EHU. If you enjoy walking, it's perfect but for those less able, car or motorhome etc is needed to get off the site. No laundry facilities but a service is available from the owner. I loved the sound of the sheep too!
