This is a lovely little site close to Warkworth. We have now stayed twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The site is very private with plenty of room between the pitches. It is encircled by the river Coquet and there are lots of walks or cycle rides in all directions. Warkworth has pubs and shops as well as the Castle. The site is only a short drive or longish walk to the beautiful beach at Warkworth. The site has no toilet or shower facilities. Claire and Nick are very hospitable and have made us feel very welcome.

The second time we stayed at Walkmill we stayed at ’Balmoral’ the holiday home rather than in our tourer. We stayed during the half term holiday in October 2010 when the weather was turning cold. We found ‘Balmarol’ spacious and warm. We loved using the kitchen and there’s the choice of using a shower or bath in the bathroom and having two toilets was useful.
Shops are about six miles away so we were able to stock up on a good selection of food. It’s also possible to buy fresh produce and eggs from the owners of Walkmill who have hens and a vegetable garden.
There are many local attractions within easy reach of Walkmill.
We’ve been made to feel very welcome both times we’ve visited Walkmill.

We found this site by recommendation and we're so glad we did. It is well off the beaten track but if you like a rural site this is perfect.
The site is well off the local road, down a private track tucked behind a beautifully renovated barn (home to the owners)
The site is large and partly sloping, down to the River Coquet - A picturesque river which flows round two sides of the field and is home to large fish, otters and other wildlife. A paradise for nature lovers and older children who like to splash about in the water!
We received a very warm welcome from Nick, Clare and their boys, Oliver and Benji who soon made friends with our sons and made them feel very welcome on the trampoline and building dens by the river.
Who needs a Kids Club to entertain children when they can have proper old fashioned fun with new-found friends?
If you can tear yourself away from the peace and quiet of the site (which is beautifully maintained) there is so much to do in the surrounding area you will never be bored, especially if you like exploring castles; Alnwick, Warkworth, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh etc.
We were lucky to see a fantastic medieval battle re-enactment at Warkworth - our boys are still talking about it. The coast is great, the beaches are deserted even in the school holidays and there are some pleasant coastal walks.
A trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses is a great day out, as is Cragside House near Rothbury.
But the real joy of this site is being able to get away from it all, sample nature, rest, relax and enjoy a very warm welcome to a beautiful spot. You may even get freshly laid eggs on your doorstep!
