We stayed at this campsite whilst visiting Cambridge Folk Festival which was only 10 mins walk away.
The standard of cleanliness in the toilets / showers / washing up area / veg preparation area, infact the entire site, was far, far superior to any campsite we have ever stayed in.
It was immaculate and I firmly believe that the couple running this site should give instruction to other sites al over the country on how to keep facilities clean. I was so impressed. This just goes to show that there is no excuse for dirty, cobweb filled facilities anywhere and other campsite owners should up their game and take note.
The Staff were friendly and very helpful.
The area for tents is quite small and secluded. Some pitches have EHU and there are recycling facilities and a tap etc close by.
The site is on a good bus route to Cambridge and local shopping areas. It is a lovely peaceful site despite being very close to the town.
You can't go wrong staying here, that's for certain. Well done to the staff for providing such a lovely place to stay.

We arrived at 1pm due to the narrow road leading to site, there's not much space for queueing caravans. Good barrier system.
The friendly wardens explained their checking in arrangements. We were given a map of all the free pitches and asked us to leave the car and caravan at reception while we walked the site and picked our spot. ( At this time pick two or three in case you miss your first choice). The site has small roads so it was much easier to do it this way, the few caravans waiting all viewed where they wanted to be but it was all done in a fair order and in turn.
There are some pitches to the left on a lower level, while to the right it is on a higher level, the road only takes one car at a time. The pitches are smaller than usual, most people parked the car in front of their caravan. The grasses and flowers are left to grow under the trees, so mowing of the grass only goes to the edge, many are rare species. We saw a Roe Deer early one morning about 6. 30 which was special.
There is one toilet and shower block, always up to the very good standards. Never over busy.
A good information desk. Park and ride close, making it easier to go into Cambridge for visiting.
The site has a lovely friendly feel, many caravanner's chatting to each other, we even joined our neighbours for a drink.
There is also a small clearing and secluded area for tents, although this was closed when we visited the friendly wardens allowed a walker to pitch his tent. Very accommodating.
This is a lovely site and we will be returning.

Nice site, most pitches are down slopes and very shaded by trees, looks lovely but very little sunlight. Only one part uphill and in sunlight. Showers and toilets very clean, usual Caravan Cub standard, plenty of hot water. There is a late night arrivals area if needed. Tripped out electric and warden came straight away to reset it. The other warden in reception not the warmest of people. Walked to the local pub the Robin Hood, lovely food and a good atmosphere, about 5 minute walk. There is a small Tesco and a takeaway within a 10 minute walk. Babraham park and ride 5 mins drive, well worth it if you want to go into the City centre, £2. 40 return and buses every 10 minutes.
Approach the site via Queen Edith's Road as this is very straight, if you approach via other direction the road is very tight.

We arrived at 13:00 exactly, the signage is limited but the instructions on the website proved useful. The approach road is narrow with only one outfit able to pass at any one time and it is also blind, so you do not know if anyone is coming the other way.
Checking in was simple, the warden was terse but not rude. She explained that each path on site is effectively a dead-end and therefore suggested to walk around the site and pick your pitch number before coming back and letting the warden know rather than trying to drive round looking for a pitch.
Most pitches I saw, have hardstanding areas but you must walk across grass to reach them. Most pitches were level (but a later saw lots that were steeply sloping). We picked pitch 13, a large pitch which (unusually) was hard standing to the path/road and level. The site was very quiet, I did not see many children. There is no play area.
I originally wanted to drive into Cambridge, I asked the warden whether this was feasible. The answer was 'Have a look at your welcome pack', As I said before terse!
The welcome pack stated that there are two buses (1 + 3) that go into Cambridge as well as the Park and Ride. But did not suggest the benefits of one over the other. We would find out later.
We wanted to walk to the Robin Hood Pub. We had a buggy/pushchair, but there is no path suitable to walk - the road is very narrow and we were quite often teetering on the edge of the muddy tiny 'footpath' whilst the kids were terrified of the oncoming cars. This tiny footpath would not be a problem for adults, or self sufficient children but for buggies or wheelchairs I would strongly recommend against it. This is also the same walk to the buses mentioned earlier which ruled out the standard bus for our trip to Cambridge.
The Robin Hood pub/eatery is fantastic. A wonderful nice decor, very modern and clean and prices very cheap. They had a good menu (including small portions). This is 5 minutes walk from the site and easily the best thing by a country mile nearby.
The next day we decided to take the park and ride (Brabanham road) - which is 1mile away from the site and very pleased we did. It is £2. 70 return. Kids are free. The
Car park is free and very very large and well lit. Buses every 10 minutes and run until 8pm-ish. The bus takes about 15 minutes to drop you into Cambridge. Cambridge is an excellent walking city and you can easily waste away a day before you know it. Would recommend going on a punt boat tour. Would not suggest trying to 'pilot' it yourself though.
Back to the site. There were some issues with driving speed, some drivers speeding - wardens not aware/not saying anything. But other than that it was good. Everyone kept to themselves which was slightly disappointing.
A good site overall - well priced at £16. 50 per night when we travelled.
We will probably try Highfield farm next time we want to visit Cambridge.

Just arrived home from a weekend away. We had a reasonable time but we didn't enjoy this weekend away as much as we have all the others.
When we booked the pitch, we used the online booking service provided by the Caravan Club. In the box 'time of arrival' I ticked 6-8pm. Thinking we could therefore arrive up until 8pm (couldn't arrive any earlier due to being at work in the afternoon) as is the case with Ashridge Farm and Hertford ccc site,
We were disappointed to find when we arrived at 7. 15 that the office was well and truly shut and after ringing the bell a couple of times the warden came out. We were told that they were off duty and to park in the late arrival area and to see them at 9am the next morning. Since it was very dark and raining we didn't see the small notice in the window telling us what to do. Perhaps a sandwich board saying 'Shut, please pitch in the late arrival area' might have saved us from disturbing the wardens. Just a little warning to future visitors to double check with the site as to when the latest arrival time is.
Because the late arrival area is nearer the road, we spent an evening with more traffic noise than had we stayed at home! We didn't feel very secure being out on our own either.
We spoke to wardens in the morning. She was friendly and we were soon settled onto our pitch. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, despite having hard standings, you have to drive across grass (mud) to reach the hardstanding, some areas were very messy; no doubt one of the problems with going out of season. I should imagine though even in the summer after a period of rain it could also be messy.
We were also disappointed with the walks to be found. The dog walk on the site takes about two minutes; the chalk pit over the road isn't the nicest place to walk round, and the roads are so busy it wasn't nice walking along them either.
The site itself is lovely, just in the wrong place for us! If you want to go into Cambridge, it is a good base with lovely facilities. If, though, like us, you want to go for peace and tranquillity, it perhaps isn't for you. As has also been said, some areas will be very shaded even on the sunniest of days.
Unfortunately, there was a loud noise (not the fault of the site!) which we think may have been coming from the airport. It went on for most of Saturday and a short while on the Sunday (Sounded like an engine being run)
For anyone with children, I didn't notice a play area; I guess that means they have to play around the 'vans.
Would we go back, no.

Reception: Very welcoming and friendly. No newspapers but local shop 5 mins away.
Pitch: Decent sized flat, hardstanding pitch. There are several little areas of around 10 pitches per area which was quite nice. Most of these areas are surrounded by trees which is picturesque but makes TV reception quite bad. Majority of EHU have digital tv hook up.
Facilities: All of the facilities are spotless, with lots of hot water and well powered showers
Dog walk: There are a couple of small dog walks on the site, but turn left out of the site and across the road there is an old quarry which is now a nature reserve and is a great place to let your dog off the lead.
Pubs: Nearest pub is The Robin Hood, about 5 mins walk, but it is just an eatery. For a little more atmosphere, go past this pub about 100 yds and turn left to the Red Lion. Here they have two large rooms and a dog friendly garden with a gazebo. They have 3 real ales, Abbott Ale, IPA and Hooky which are all very quaffable.
Eating: Also, about 200yds past the Robin Hood is a fish and chip shop. We did`nt use it but spoke to others on the site who had and said how good it was.
Local Transport: Next to the Robin Hood pub is a bus stop where you can catch one of 2 regular buses into Cambridge, day saver is £3. 50 so well worth it.
All in all a very nice site, open all year and would definitely return, maybe for a little longer than a weekend next time.

We've just returned from a couple of night's stay at this very good caravan club site. It's smaller than many club sites but the facilities, as expected, are immaculate thanks to the hard work of the very friendly wardens.
It wasn't very busy when we were there so we could choose our own pitch - if you get chance go towards the far end of the site and bear left where there is a very quiet cul-de-sac with a couple of excellent south facing pitches (35 and 36).
There is no play area for children and a small dog walk at the entrance but across the road is a nature reserve in an old chalk pit where you can let them run around to their heart's content!
Turn right out of the site and about a mile down the road is the park and ride into Cambridge which is dog friendly - what a bonus.
Driving into Cambridge would have been a nightmare so it's a real bargain at £2. 40 each. It was our first trip to this area of the country but we will certainly return.

This was our first trip in our new van and first booking at a Caravan Club site, if it's anything to go by our membership was money well spent.
We were greeted upon arrival and given a map and told when we'd decided where we'd like to park up to get ourselves sorted then let them know, we picked a pitch at the very top of the site.
We got set up and were about to settle down with a cuppa, when our neighbours tapped on the door telling us we had a problem with our water inlet, basically it was more of a water outlet, water was pouring from the junction, a quick look and we realised the connection was broken, as we'd arrived I'd asked where we could buy a hitchlock as we needed one but until we'd collected the van wasn't sure which to buy and the warden had given me a card with the number of a local caravan shop.
As to the facilities.
The waste area was clean and well equipped for both fresh water, waste water and toilet emptying, the bins were tidy and didn't smell.
The toilets and showers were fantastic, clean and a steady supply of Hot water.
The pitches (we picked a hard standing one) were good close enough to pass the time of day with neighbours but also far enough away to have privacy.
The site was very peaceful with just the sound of wildlife in the early evening, very relaxing.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
The village is just a short walk away with a good selection of shops, Pubs and a library.
The fellow caravanners were friendly and chatty, we've missed caravanning, and glad to be back would we visit again. Too right we're even planning next years holidays and Cherry Hinton is on the list to visit again.
The only negative thing we can say is the entrance/exit is quite tight and on a small road, but that's wasn't really that difficult to negotiate, but worth the trouble getting in and out.

This is the first site we have visited as campervan owners, We had a one night stop here testing out our van's sleeping arrangements
We found the receptionist extremely friendly and helpful, The toilets and showers were spotless and the site in general well maintained.
We did notice that several of the pitches were always in the shade due to the site being in a disused quarry but ours was fine.
There is a nice pub within a 5 minute walk with good food and pleasant staff but would advise booking as we had to wait 20 minutes for a table but the food was worth waiting for.
There is a Tesco Express and a range of other shops within 15mins walk of the site.

Arrived on site thinking we could select our own pitch being Caravan Club site but because they were busy we were given an allocated pitch we were not impressed very shaded by trees so not much sunlight.
The site itself was okay shower block kept clean as was the site.
The site was within 5 mins walking distance from a local pub which was priced quite reasonable.
Also the bus stop into Cambridge was just outside the pub. Great if you our a bus pass holder.
The village has a Tesco local but is very expensive for wine etc.
