We were on a site near Yarmouth that didn't meet our expectations so decided to move. The only site that looked 'okay' and had pitches available was Vauxhall Holiday Park - a site we would normally avoid at all cost (big, brash, noisy children running round, entertainment etc.), but do you know what, we were completely taken aback by how much better it was than we had anticipated.
Downside
The pitches were quite close and we didn't put the awning up because the ground where the awning would normally go was compacted mud. It was however September, and it had rained continuously for goodness knows how long.
Plus side
Excellent heated shower room. They were absolutely spotless and I suspect were cleaned overnight as well as during the day time - always immaculate at 7 o'clock in the morning. Toilets equally clean and separate to the showers. Normally this wouldn't be my preference but I can see why on a busy site like this where people will use the toilets as they are wandering around all the many attractions or when they're leaving the entertainment centres or food outlets. Again, absolutely spotless first thing in the morning.
The Reedcutters Restaurant is very nice inside and the food is better than the menu might suggest. We enjoyed the bowling and playing pool (badly in my case), and were pleasantly surprised by the two entertainment theatres - the beauty being if you didn't like what was on in one, you could move to the other - which we did once.
Whilst when people leave the theatres at midnight you can hear people walking back to their respective tents/caravans/static vans and there is some noise, it soon goes quiet, and presumably because there is obvious security around, there's no trouble if people have had too much 'entertainment'.
We don't have children but were impressed at the attention to detail in the jungle crazy golf, and the swimming pools looked very attractive. We imagine children could have a really good time here.
It's about 15 minutes walk by the River into Yarmouth centre, but Sainsbury's and Asda are slightly closer.
The Reception staff are friendly and helpful - it's a bit 'corporate' but it's a large concern so you would expect it to be. The site itself is well maintained - bins emptied daily I think - and there's always maintenance men and gardeners around doing something or other.
So, despite the complete contrast to the type of site we'd normally go for, we'd happily return to Vauxhall next year, and importantly, we've learned never to let our ill conceived prejudices get in the way of having a blooming good time.

Just had a fab weekend at Vauxhall.
The whole place was clean and tidy the whole time we were there. The toilet facilities were spotless and more than adequate in number. In the entertainment complexes the tables were cleared of dirty glassed quickly and the staff were all helpful and friendly.
There was plenty of entertainment to choose from and we made use of the amusements, mini-market, games room, adult bar and main entertainment room.
Our only negatives (and certainly not reasons why we wouldn't return but areas the site might want to work on) were the tightness of the pitches. We were located at the back of a piece of grass by a hedge and we got in ok, but as the weekend went on more people arrived and when we left sunday we had to negotiate our way out with the caravan. If the site had been full I think we would have struggled to hitch up and get out without a squeeze and some breathing in.
Also, the food from the catering stands was not that good - hubby didn't like the chips (very unusual for him) and I had a hot dog that was distinctly a 'cold' dog with no offer of onions and supplied in a slightly stale roll. Definitely an area for them to work on.
The grounds/bin staff start early in the morning and are not particularly quiet (woke me up both mornings) - and they hammer around in their vans and tractor units at quite a speed (not good with children on site).
Our final negative was the check in and check out times - 11am check in and 10am check out. It would be nice after a night out til gone midnight in their complex not to have to get up at 8am on a Sunday to pack up and leave at 10am. I would have been happier with a later check in time and therefore a later check out time so would could make the most of a weekend stay - probably not an issue on a week's holiday.
We paid £20 per night for ehu and I think it was worth it for the entertainment we got, and we are already planning at least one and possibly two trips there next year.

Spent 5 days here aug 2010 with mrs and 2 boys 8 + 10 in campervan! couldn't really fault the place 10/10 ! Weather full week of clear blue + sun always helps! Camped next to crazy golf (swamp themed best I've ever seen with a 'crashed' light air craft/ landrover/ cave/ waterfall !). Loads for 2 demanding kids to do, huge entertainment complex / shops / indoor outdoor swim / play park/ 20ish pool tables/ few snooker / slots. Separate adults bar - chubby brown tribute best I've seen - was it really him??
15min walk into town/sea front or bus stop at entrance - get unlimited day explorer ticket for up and down sea front / supermarket next door to bus station and back to site! We booked in advance for 1 week but only stayed 5 days, as had to get kids back, should have just turned up and paid '2 nights on this pitch and 3 on that pitch' as lots of space/people coming going! Lots to do on the sea front! Would go back no probs

This really is a superb site if you just wish to arrive and stay put. You really do have everything on site, entertainment, take aways bars, swimming pools etc etc. For touring caravans the site needs a make over since many of the pitches are difficult to access and many small for todays caravans. Site toilets and showers are small and not enough of them and need more frequent cleaning. If it rains very heavily here you may get flooded, we did last year, mainly because the site is very flat with all the pitches on level ground.
A great place if you have kids, perhaps not so good for chill out but of course this depends what you want out of your stay.

We arrived on a Saturday - the site was very easy to find but was very busy! We were processed very quickly however and were on our way to start pitching the tent. The words 'grass pitch' are used very loosely at this site, as it was like pitching onto concrete!
My poor husband spent 3 hours putting the tent up in the pouring rain, which usually takes 20 mins! We had 3 types of tent pegs, none of which we could hammer into the ground. He just kept hitting bricks. We ruined every single tent peg we had and we broke the mallet.
Apart from the terrible pitches, the rest of the site is excellent. The showers and toilets were always clean and we never had to queue for a shower. The whole site was spotless and the facilities were great for children.
The playground is fantastic. The entertainment is also reasonable, however the bar is a little overpriced (as are the takeaways), but is to be expected for this type of site. The swimming pool is excellent and my overall impression is that the site is good value for money.
There is an Asda over the road within walking distance. We would return to the site, but definitely not with a tent. We may return next year with our newly purchased caravan.

Quick check in, site always clean, plenty of showers, friendly staff,
Camp shop expensive, Asda, Tesco,Sainsbury are all very within 2 miles.
Entertainment very good two clubs one for family and one for 18 & over.
Plenty of nearby attractions something for everybody, lots of good shows to be seen on the piers theaters.
Good beach botton bros amusements, Joyland
Lots of shops regent road is very good for souvenirs and clothes
I was very impressed by the fact that you do not have to pay extra for awnings most other sites charge extra for awnings very good swimming pools plenty for everyone,i think they have thought of just about everything.

We visited in June during term time as there are just the two of us, site was fairly quiet with just a few units present.
We found the staff to be very helpful, pitch was a reasonable size for our van, LDV Pilot 2 berth + awning. As mentioned by others very handy for Great Yarmouth, just 15-20 minutes walk. Although we didn't have any little ones with us we could see the attraction for a family based holiday it has everything.
Toilets and showers we thought were adequate but could see that there would be problems if the site was busy.
We would visit again.

On arrival the campsite seemed very clean, reception were very helpful.
We had booked a grass pitch and yes, the pitches could do with a bit of tlc, there was hardly any grass left on the pitch. The tents were very close together.
The shower facilities are clean, and ok.
The swimming pool is brill, the kids absolutely loved being in their, could do with some happy life guards, all they did was sit their yawning!
The food facilities are brilliant, a little pricey but you expect this on a campsite. The entertainment team which were on in the regency room on an evening are fantastic, they kept the kids and adults entertained. They put a lot of hard work into their entertaining. Brilliant!

Visited this site for two weeks in july along with our 3 and 8 year old boys.
Upon arrival and finding our pitch we discovered that once we would have set up (including awning) we would be facing a 8ft hedge with only a persons width to walk along. Upon complaining to reception were re-allocated a choice of 2 alternative pitches, both of which seemed inadequate for a 6 berth single axle, awning and annexe.
After setting up on the pitches behind the swimming complex in the correct position shown on map, our van side by side to a continental motorhome whose door was opening the same as our’s we had extremley limited space.
We have been caravaning for several years and have never seen pitch layouts like this before. There is nowhere to park your car or even sit out
On a good note the park facilities and entertainment were fantastic but pricey for drinks.within walking distance of Yarmouth and very local asda nearby
Overall was good but put off rebooking due to pitches.

The entertainment and children's facilities on this site were absolutely first class. The club for the over 18's was also tastefully decorated and the entertainment was again first class.
However, I was very disappointed with the touring facilities. When we arrived, the touring pitch allocated was opposite tents that were literally touching each other and to my mind were a fire risk.
The toilets were totally inadequate for the amount of touring visitors with queues regularly seen outside! Also they were dirty and not cleaned on a regular basis.
I would return to this site but only if I hired one of the caravans or apartments belonging to the site which looked to be of a good standard, and where I had my own facilities. Reception staff were polite but not the most friendly I have encountered.
