Good campsite with good number of toilets, showers and washing up facilities. Friendly owner. Only slight drawback, if you've got young kids, was the trek to the playground (it was really a long way to go), otherwise the tent area was very spacious for ball games and for kids to run amok.

Just got back from Carlton Park. It is a nice big site shared with various sports clubs. As you drive into the site the camping field is on the right behind the tennis courts. The caravan field is on the left behind the bowling green. The toilet / shower block is to the back of the caravan field so there was a few minutes walk to the loo in the middle of the night for us tent users. Bins are in caravan area also by toilet block. Toilet facilities good with plenty of hot water. Freezer and washing machines in washing up room. Showers nice and clean with new shower curtains. When we arrived we followed sign which showed where our plot was to be. We found we were put very close to a big two family group which was odd because much of the field was empty. I think we might have been spread out more if we had not chosen to use electric hook up. Our kids loved the play area which was situated a way from camping and caravanning areas. There are football pitches also behind the toilet / shower blocks. You can walk to the Poacher's Pocket pub through the fields behind the church. Saxmundham is a very central place to see Suffolk from. Somerfield in Saxmundham is only a 10-15 min walk away.

Enjoyed our first camping trip in a lotta years at this site. Lovely man cycles round to collect your fees. He was very helpful suggesting places to eat and walks. Showers lovely and hot. There is a bit of noise from the units next door but although we were that side of field it didn't disturb us too much. But it may be an idea to avoid the bottom corner near the tennis courts. Will definitely return

I took my sister and nieces camping for a long weekend, it was their first time camping. The toilet block was very basic but clean, though a bit of a walk from the tent field if you were in a hurry. The site was very busy but peaceful, the play area was really great. Sunday afternoon was spent watching the local cricket team play, and taking the dog for a walk in nearby public walkways. This was the first time I had electric hookup which there seemed plenty of and was handy for the mini fridge and radio so we didn't' miss the footie. Would definitely go back for another visit. Even though there is no site shop Saxmundham town centre is only a 20 minute walk away with loads of small shops, a really good hardware store where you can get gas cartridges, and Somerfields. My sister and nieces really enjoyed their first time under canvas

What a great site, had read the reviews, as I always do and everything people said has been right. We went there with our two children, my brother in law and his two boys. 7 of us in total, and all this for £15 it was great. Absolutely no rush, we were told that we could leave anytime the following day. The pitches are very generous, with fantastic open spaces. I am reliably informed that all the children loved the play area (didn't get to see it myself). Family showers are great, some may say a bit basic, but at the end of the day, plenty of space, and loads of hot water. We will definitely be going back again, and I can't wait. Everything about this site is relaxing. To boot, we had glorious weather which made it even better. Go on, try it !

It's lovely to be able to make use of a site run by a not for profit organisation, where you can see that your money is being used to pay for sporting facilities for local people.
We arrived mid-afternoon on the hottest Saturday of the year so far and found a pitch with no problem. The camping area was clean and pitches were spacious. Showers and toilets were clean and in good condition. The site manager was friendly and helpful and waking to the sound of birds singing was wonderful.
Saxmundham is within easy walking distance of the site.

A great site and very reasonably priced. The loos and showers were always clean and there was lots of hot water. Pitching very generous and the views across the fields were marvellous. Great sunken play area, great for our older children of 12 and 9.Lots of space, lots of fresh air and lots of crows ( at about 4am!). Gentleman running the site very courteous, came around collecting fees, no rush, no deposit, all very civilised. Great location for Suffolk coast. Will go back.

This site has two large fields, one for caravanners and another for campers. The tent pitches are large, well spaced and well-kept. The pitching is kept to the perimeters of the field, which is sheltered by large trees, with some pitching in the middle, again with trees as a backdrop. The amenities, although a little basic, are kept clean and warm. This site had a nice, relaxed, unregimented feel to it, with no rush to be off before 11am on the last day - ideal, for a Fri-Sun w/e, taking away the panic of packing up and leaving, allowing us to enjoy a last leisurely day. There is a lovely play area for children with lots of green space for them to run around. There isn't a shop, but a supermarket in the town of Saxmundham. Accessible to the coastal resorts of Aldburgh and Southwold and Framlingham Castle - ideal for a long weekend away.

This was our first visit to this site and we would definitely go again. The site is peaceful and a ten-minute walk into Saxmundham which is a lovely village with plenty of amenities (supermarket, bakery, post office, newsagent, pub etc). Plenty of electric hook-up for tents if you want it (and caravans) and the site has a very spacious feel. Toilet block and free showers were fine but there was no hairdryer or a plug if you want to take your own. Family shower-rooms are a great idea, they are very spacious and there are three of them. Very reasonably priced site and well worth a visit.

We have just spent one night at Carlton Park. It was our first time away with our own tent(we have only been camping with Keycamp in France before). It is a lovely site, great pitches, clean loos and showers with plenty of hot water. There is plenty of space for our boys to kick a ball around. The tennis courts were a real bonus but of course you need your own rackets and balls. It's in a great location, walking distance to shops and there is a Somerfields in Sax. We took a short drive to Aldeburgh on Saturday evening and had fish and chips on the beach. We would definitely go back here.
