This was the second time I have been to this campsite and won't be the last!
They seem to have put their prices up this year to £10 per person on bank holidays which is a bit of a bummer but you get what you pay for as they say.
Amazing facilities, friendly and helpful staff and plenty of space to pitch.
Still haven't tried the on site pizza which does look amazing so will have to try at some point. There are kayaks etc for added fun. Got 2 hours for £6 but it was quiet but can't beat it. Will definitely have to try the gorge walking at some point!
I would seriously recommend everyone to this site, location is perfect as it's quite and have views to die for.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of the May half term. The weather was pretty awful when we turned up but we were expecting this being in the mountains in wales. There's loads of space and we were able to find a relatively sheltered spot to pitch our tent, close to the toilet block as we have young children. The facilities were very clean and the free showers lovely and warm, very welcome after a soaking from the Welsh weather. The views around the site are tremendous and we were able to sit out and enjoy them on the second night. The pizzas were amazing and very handy when the weather prevents cooking outside. The staff were lovely and very helpful too. There was plenty of space for the children to run around and play football/frizbee and they really enjoyed being so close to nature with rabbits and ducks wandering around the field and even a swallow nest in the ladies (with a board placed under to prevent any unpleasantness whilst cleaning teeth). All in all this is a wonderful site for nature lovers and we'll definitely be returning in the future.

My son ( aged 14 ) and I visited this site mid Nov 2014, and Feb 2015. Prior to our first visit I emailed the warden for some info and received a prompt and very helpful reply. On our visit in Nov, which was our first, we were worried we may not catch the warden to buy some wood ( see reason later ), due to the distance to travel ( 70 miles )in the time we had ( 90 mins ). We needn't have worried. Despite our late arrival time the warden willingly booked us in, and gave us the info we needed and thankfully sold us some wood for our fire. Our ex army tent hangs from the side of the Landrover so we were advised to camp where the motorhomes do. What to say about the site. It's beautiful, tranquil, with fabulous views and a real place to chill out. We set up our kit in the dark, ( full on father and son bonding lol ) and lit our fire. Once burnt down to embers we cooked some monster steaks ( thanks wife! )on the fire using an old cooker grill I had brought. My son and I sat, ate like kings and put the world to rights, looking up at a clouldless night sky, in Snowdonia. Priceless. During our stay we walked up from the site to a small hydro-electric power station up the valley, where I bored my son talking about High Voltage switchgear ( can't forget about work, sorry Lewis. ) Back to the site, we showered in the amenity building and then set up for the night, again building a fire and cooking on it. Fantastic! In the morning we ate our breakfast and fed the birds. There was only 3 or 4 other units camping when we went ( on both occasions) which was ideal for the peace we were seeking. Take everything you need, there is no shop on site. No mobile phone signal and some sensible rules to ensure peace and quiet. It's a world away from the Zoo that can be Shell Island, we like both sites but for entirely different reasons. When arriving at the site, we came from Capel Curig end and nearly missed the opening to the site, which is on the right after driving around a left hand bend, beware, it's a tight right turn and easily missed, so take your time. All in all a fabulous site, pleasant and very very helpful staff, in a beautiful part of North Wales. I can hardly wait to visit again.

Spent a rather nice warm weekend here as its a good base for hiking up the Watson path and then coming down either the Pygs or miners track from Snowden.
Its a big field, long grass with a basic toilet block. A very small shop with just a few essentials, they also don't take bookings its a turn up and see if you can get on site. No Wifi no mobile phone signal but you can get a raised metal plate in which to have a camp fire on, wood is sold from the reception.
I like it, its in a nice part of the country some good views, dog friendly and whilst it might not be like some campsites which are more like manicured country parks, this is a more back to basics place to do a spot of camping.
Getting to shops is a good 10-15min drive away, but if you are looking for a nice quiet place to camp that's not really commercial this is one such place.
They do some canoeing but I think you need to book this in advance.

I stayed at the site for a long weekend last year and I have returned and spent another weekend this year. It is such a good site, very spacious, clean and accessible toilets and showers + portaloo's. Great pizza on site :) fire pits and wood are never short of supply. The staff here are so very helpful and around all day and night.
The hire of water equipment, boats and wet suits is a massive bonus and helps to explore the area.
If you haven't been then you have to go and try this reasonably priced site out!

Returned yesterday from 3 night stay where it was a base for me to walk up Watkins path to Snowdon summit.
Couldn't fault it in any way. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings on edge of lake, plenty of pitches, firepits and wood sold on site at £4 a bag, noise policy so quiet after 11 pm, kayak hire at £6 per hour, on site pizza grill in high season, warm showers, freezer room for icepacks.
Got very busy the night before we left with campers pitching tents in the dark so can imagine queuing for showers in the morning.
Overall had thoroughly enjoyable stay, will definitely be returning to tackle another path up Snowdon.

We spent 4 nights on our second visit to this beautifully situated site. It is professionally run by friendly, helpful staff. Stunning views, camp fires and home baked pizzas. The site is very reasonably priced. Prepare for the usual midge problems and it does not get better than this!
We'll be back!

Stayed for one night on May bank holiday.
Site was very busy for the bank holiday, yet site is very big with several fields, so there was plenty of space for our 3 families.
A nice bonus is that the site allow open campfires on raised frames that are scatted in the fields. Firewood is sold on-site in the evening in a very reasonably price. Additional perk is a wood stove pizza that sell fresh pizza on site
Toilet block was nice and clean through out the whole time.

Just come home now from this beautiful campsite! Absolutely lovely, plenty of flat decent spaces to camp.
On arriving was greeted by a very friendly person who told us that the booking office was closed at the moment but if we wanted to set up we could pay later on. As we entered the camping fields we noticed that there were fire pits aplenty, we bought logs for £4. Will most certainly camp here again, friendly staff, lovely walks. Only criticism is that large group staying at bunkhouse stayed up until after 3am and had really loud music that we could hear the bass from 4 fields away :(. Shame because otherwise perfect time there.
More bins around site would be good as there are only the big bins by reception.

We used this site as a base for completing a number of outdoor activities in Snowdonia.
It's a large site with basic facilities with canoe hire available on site. A great base for gorge walking, mountaineering and mine exploration.
The views from the site are stunning, overlooking Llyn Gwynant.
It's very isolated but within driving distance are the lovely towns of Beddgelert and Llanberis.
£8 per person.
Fabulous spot!
