We stayed here for one night on our way back down from the Highlands and in order that my Mum could visit Deanston where she was evacuated to in the war, and we could also visit relatives.
Gart is the best site we have been to so far. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming when we arrived. We were allowed to choose our own pitch and the great thing about it was that each pitch had its own service point (ehu, water and drainage - excellent).
Each pitch is well spaced out from the next. The showers and toilets were absolutely fantastic with the added bonus of a hairwashing / drying / baby wash area too. Great. The site is a credit to its wardens/owner.
Highly recommended and will definitely visit again next we are in the area.

Fantastic site. Very warm and helpful welcome. Could choose where you wanted to pitch. Water and grey waste right next to your pitch. One mile walk into Callendar which had a good selection of shops, places to eat and lovely walks and bike rides. The views from your pitches were brilliant. Toilets and showers excellent. Play area for the kids and one under cover. The site is so well kept it was a pleasure just to stroll around and walk down to the river where you can fish for free if you wish.
Would recommend this site and would love to come back.

Our second visit and to be honest I have not changed my opinion at all. My wife and I wanted to stay near Callander for our wedding anniversary. I tried to get into Keltie Bridge first but unfortunately it was fully booked (I had not realised that our visit coincided with the World Highland Games being held in Callander).
At the time of booking at Gart no mention was made on the telephone of the 'No Groundcover Whatsoever in Awnings' even though I was charged extra for my awning. At the check in there was also no mention of it and the lady who processed my order seemed harried and under pressure even though there was only me and one other lady checking in.
I was given a handful of papers and the choice of any pitch I wanted and to be fair they are very well spread out in very nice surroundings with electric and individual water at each. I could have also emptied my grey waste directly into the drain but I was on a wee slope and it would not have worked very well.
It was raining when we arrived - and had been for a while - and the ground was sodden so I put my breathable groundsheet down, I was not going to spend a weekend sploshing through mud and trailing it into my caravan. Anyway, the first I realised that groundsheets were not allowed (I had forgotten since my previous stay) was when I got round to reading the lists of things NOT to do. The three bits of paper were each a long lists of 'Don't do!' items.
The toilets were as before, very good but the showers were tepid at best, lukewarm at a stretch and were the kind that worked by the constant pushing of a polished chrome knob. The water ran for about 20 seconds at a time and I was forever pushing the button with slippy soapy hands and eyes and hair full of shampoo. There were only two small hooks and two tiny shelves for your clothes so my wife ended up with her stuff soaking.
Although the tall warden guy with the shaved head was very friendly the lady in reception when I called in on the second day served me whilst all the time carrying on a personal phone call.
The free fishing is a waste of time too, there are no fish to be caught in that stretch (ask the guy in the tackle shop in town).
The Dalgair Bar was a great night, local singer, friendly staff and lots of foreign visitors we got chatting to. The Myrtle Inn near to the camp was great too with a couple of local lads singing and playing their instruments.
The Tasty Fry chippy at the end of town gave us what was without any doubt the worst fish supper I have ever eaten. The fish was so overcooked my teeth were bouncing off it. The chips were average and they do no side orders of gravy, peas, curry sauce etc with which I would at least have had a chance of drowning out the dire taste of the fish.
Still a cracking wee town even if the large number of shops with 'Closing Down Sale' in the window painted a bleak picture of local commerce.
In summary on the plus side: good location, spacious pitches, fully serviced, near to town. On the down side: off-hand reception staff, overpriced considering the groundsheet issue, way too many restrictive rules and poor showers.

Staff very friendly and helpful. When you arrive you pick your pitch. Toilets and showers, one of the best we have come across. The site had a lovely feel to it.
Dog walk on the site and just across the road through a wood some lovely walks where you can let your dog off the lead to get plenty of exercise. Would definitely go back when up in the area.
The town is about 1 mile away which we walked to, some fab shops and great fish and chips (Mhor) The same people came every day to the site selling bread, rolls, eggs, bacon and newspapers

This is the second time we have been to Gart and again can not fault it. Even though the site was very nearly full, we didn't feel closed in within each pitch, the size of the pitches are very good.
Toilet /showers blocked clean, laundry room with some drying area too.
Easy walk into Callander.
This site has a good feeling, friendly site, there was no noisy or disruption, kids played happily
Would be going back again

We are just new to caravanning and chose this site as our first adventure. We are just back from our second visit. We found it to be family friendly, with a lovely little play area for children and plenty of room for a game of football.
Toilet/ showers were ready available even when park is busy. Very well kept park with very helpful / friendly wardens. The little town (about 1.5 mile) away has a good choice of eateries, pubs and shops. Beautiful little lake at the end of the town where you can enjoy the company of tourists and locals.
You can chose your own pitch with plenty of water and hook up facilities. Lovely walks by the river and for the fishermen, you have a choice of two loch,s about 10 min drive away. Bait can be bought in town.
We love this park and would recommend it to anybody who wants to visit surrounding areas such as Stirling. No shop on site but bakers van calls every morning with papers, milk, morning rolls, pies and much more.

Spent one night at this site when touring the area. It's a very large site, but facilities are plentiful and spotlessly clean. All pitches have electricity and water supply, as well as waste drainage.
The park is a ten minute walk from Callendar, which is a great town with all the amenities you might need. There is also a nice pub just over the road from the site. This part of Scotland is fantastic for walking, cycling and watersports.
A great site, will use again.

Having read the previous reviews and visiting The Gart for the first time, I felt the need to leave a review to, perhaps, balance the opinion. We stayed Friday until Monday.
The Gart is an extremely clean and well maintained site. Staff were continually about tidying & cleaning. The toilet block is spotless and has the benefit of heating within.
The pitches area can be uneven in places but with careful positioning should not really be much of a problem. We chose a pitch adjacent to the play area which was ideal.
A previous review mentioned the number of advisory notices about the site. Had I not read that review I would not have noticed them. Yes, there are a number but not something that in any way would cause me to criticise the site.
The reception staff could not be faulted. Polite, friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for?
The proprietors have very kindly acknowledged the needs of dog owners as they have fenced a small wooded area and laid a winding bark (no pun intended!) path through it. We also took our dog through the wooded area sitting behind the play area and between the statics and the adjacent housing estate, which leads to the riverside.
Callendar is a lovely little town. Just beyond it there is the A81 leading to Aberfoyle. If you take this road then 200 yards along on the left is The Lade Inn which also has a real ale shop. Rita, one of the owners, claims it houses the largest collection of real ales in Scotland and by the range on offer, I could not argue. Rita is a charming character and was happy to extol the virtues of The Lade Inn restaurant wherein her son is the Chef. Having listened to her rave reviews, we visited that evening expecting a treat. However, we were rather disappointed. It was not a bad meal but it was not as startling as Rita had us believe. It was standard fare and no more. I am not saying don't visit it, just don't expect something special equivalent to its awards.
In summary, The Gart is a fabulous site to which we will return and Callendar is a lovely town which we still need to explore further.

We were at the gart over Easter weekend. This is our second visit & on both occasions have found the staff very helpful.
The facilities are clean & tidy & the children's park is fantastic.
The bakers van visited the site in the mornings, think he only comes on a weekend. He has usual bakery goods as well as some newspapers.
A lovely site which I have no doubts that we will visit again
