We are just back from this park and what can I say, from the moment you arrive at reception you are giving a warm friendly welcome and told about all the facilities on site, any questions we had about the local area were answered with knowledge and a friendly smile (and Jack the dog is just lovely)
The shower and toilet block are spotless and there are plently of them, we didnt use the laundry but did notice they had a drying area outside it. The childrens play park is well kept and the river where you are free to fish during your stay is lovely and peaceful and there is also dog walk area and a ball game area.
Would highly recommend this park and are looking forward to returning in October. The pub at the top of the road The Myrtle does lovely food and has live music and the people we met there were very friendly as were the people we met in Callender.
There are loads of pubs and shops to pass away the hours and a great base for visiting Stirling and the Trossachs. The TV reception is not very good due to all the trees, so remember and take some DVD's.

Stayed here for a weekend at the start of July with 2 adults and 4 children under the age of 5! Can't recommend it enough if you have children.

The site was very safe for the children to play in the fenced off play area which contained swings, trees, climbing frame and smaller climbing frame with sand pit (under cover). It was also good for them to ride their bikes around.

We parked in the centre area which has a large circle of grass in it for the children to cycle around like a roundabout and also as it was right next to the play park it meant we could keep an eye on the children without having to go too far.

The facitlies were spotless, with loads of hot free showers and also an extra large sink for bathing smaller children in which was great for our 16mth old who ended up in it twice on one of the days!

As this was the first time we had taken our friend and her children, she has been very spoilt on the standards of campsites, as I don't think there are many out there with such good facities.

The pitch we had was fully serviced and there was a motorhome waste drain near the top of the park for us to remove our waste water.

A wee extra bonus was the little van coming around in the morning selling, bread, rolls, bacon etc and papers.

All in all brilliant site for children.

We spent one night on this site. Spotless is the word. Very friendly and helpful and the site is just great. Plenty of trees and a first class childs play area with a covered area for wet weather.
Definately worth a visit and its not too far from the Safari Park as well.

For our first outing of the year, we chose this site, which is situated just outside Callander in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty called The Trossachs.

I had booked prior to realising that groundsheets were forbidden so, when we were considering taking our full awning and using an inner, I phoned to ask if this was allowed. I was told that the inner would be okay for sleeping in overnight, it just needed to be lifted during the day. In the end, we just took our porch awning due to the poor weather forecast.

Upon arrival, we checked in at an impressive Reception building. While there is no shop, there are ice lollies for sale, which was a constant source of attraction for the kids. The Reception also had an impressive array of information leaflets covering events, attractions and locations in the local and wider areas.

We were not allocated a space, so we had drive around a fairly full site to find one that looked okay. All the plots are on grass, but some are quite uneven, so a bit of a balancing act might be required. It was also obvious that it had been raining recently, because it was rather squelchy underfoot. With the awning up, the situation did not improve inside, and got even worse outside with the additional rain that fell during our stay.

There are lovely tall trees dotted around the site, which might be of a slight concern for those with expensive awnings. We did not have any problems, though.

There is a large building which houses all the toilet and showering facilities for both men and women. Toilets were plentiful and always clean, as were the shower cubicles. One slight criticism is that the temperature of the shower could not be altered so, depending on the time of day, the water could be lukewarm or scalding hot.

Outside the same building, there is a chemical toilet emptying point and, on the other side, sinks for washing dishes. All in all, these general facilities were very good.

The site also provides a play area for the children. Part of it, a climbing frame in a larger sandy area, is covered, which I think is an excellent idea. There are further open grassy areas for ball games, frisbee throwing, badminton etc.

While Callander is supposedly '10 minutes walk away', I suspect that the shops in the centre are a bit further, so the car is a good idea, although parking is a bit of a lottery in this popular tourist town.

There are plenty of little shops to interest all members of the family, with a supermarket at each end of the main street. Callander also has several pubs and many tearooms for refreshments of various kinds.

Although we did not do so this time, I know that a drive into the hills of The Trossachs is a rewarding experience. Blairdrummond Safari Park is also close by and the historical town of Stirling is slightly further away.

All in all, our stay at the Gart Caravan Park was very pleasant. The lack of any hardstanding aside, I would heartily recommend this site as a base for exploring the stunning surrounding area.

 Stay here for two nights

We enjoyed every minute. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our first trip as we just got the caravan and did not know how most the things worked.

The toilets are very clean and the facilities modern and enough for this big caravaning site.

The pitches size suficient and with water and electricity connections.

Last night there rained the whole night but no flooding on the site

We have a 5 years old daughter who enjoyed mixing with other kids in the playground which part of it is under a roof.

Good stretch of the river for fishing for caravaners free of charge though did not catch any.

NO shop or restaurant on site but plenty of choice in Callander about a mile away.

Awnings charged at 2£ per day

All in all good value for money. We will definitly go back.

Fantastic site! Lovely site which is very well maintained. The reception staff were very friendly. Pitches were a decent size, plenty of space for caravan, awning and the car without feeling too overlooked. The toilet block was immaculate, always clean and very modern. Only a short 10 minute walk to the centre of the village with plenty of pubs and eateries and loads of great outdoor stores.

This is a lovely caravan park with clean toilets/showers. It is children friendly with a good play area and lots of open space. It doesn't have an on-site shop but there is one within a short walk and Callander is not far away. If you have kids you can park close to the play area but the site is big enough to get away from the noise if you want to. There are lots of nice walks around and residents can fish in the adjacent river. I would definitely recommend it and will return.

This was our second visit to this lovely site, the facilities are spotless, great park for the kids (even a roof over the sandpit area) There is a clear policy for late departure, additional charge for 1pm, 3pm or 6pm departure no problem, unlike some who insist you leave before lunchtime!

The main problem we had was the rain, in the family area pitches facing the park all flooded. My jockey wheel was in 3 inches of water by morning! Most of the pitches along the row were the same.So that is why awnings are not allowed groundsheets!

The other problem was that the pitch was lower than the drains, so we had to use the wastemaster.I thought it was a fully serviced pitch! Some pitches need a 25m EHU cable, And do not take the pitch under the Big Oak tree.Drip.Drip.Drip, with the floodlights pointing in your skylight all night

Nevertheless, we will definitely be back it really is a good site .Pitch allocation is a case of

Just spent a weekend at this site, but if I hadn`t booked and payedforitin advance I mighthaveturnedaround and went elsewhere asthe woman on reception wasenough to put you off. A friendly welcome costs nothing!.
On the good side though toilets and shower block were spotless as was the entire site, great site for kids with plenty room to run about and play and a separate partly covered play area. Callander is only minutes away with plenty shops and friendly pubs. Dont think I`ll be back to this site though as not prepared to contribute to receptionists wages again, there`s plenty more sites in the area

A good location and pleasant surroundings but I was firstly put off by the person who I spoke to when trying to book. They gave me the distinct impression I was a nuisance and did not seem particularly keen to take my booking.
'No vans or Commercial Vehicles' etc is poor and discriminatory in this day and age, I know many very respectable people working in the construction business who own their own businesses and use their own company vans to tow a caravan.
I never quite felt good enough for this place, and although the park is well spaced out and nicely grassed it is close to the river and poorly drained. After one day of rain my jeep nearly got bogged in. No groundsheets of any description is roughing it a bit too, I had a couple of impromptu extra guests and had to put up my inner tent. I spent the whole weekend worrying if I would get into trouble for it, since it has a built in groundsheet.
The town is very near, a bit too tourist orientated for my liking, but good pubs, shops and restaurants. Just as well really, because there is nothing on the site.
Toilets clean and well cared for, and plenty of them.
