The facilities haven't really moved on from last year when they were old dirty and decrepit. Some work has been done to the toilets but not enough to drag them into the twentieth century never mind the twenty first.
It is the holiday season so I guess the cleaner was off somewhere nice. I know Ty Isaf a working farm but it's also a working camp site so keeping the place clean is important.
On the plus side the fields are fairly flat and you can still have small camp fires.

This is a site of 2 halves, there is the main campsite on a working farm with a tent field and a caravan field with electric hook ups. It also has water points, toilets, shower and washing up facilities which seemed adequate and in keeping with a working farm. Then there's the other half, down a winding track. Two fields on the river with a portaloo. We set up camp on the 2nd half.
This is as near to wild camping as a campsite gets and it's fabulous. We arrived on bank holiday monday when most were leaving and pitched our tent next to the river. Stan the man is there in his green caravan at the weekends to see all is well and he came to say hello. We lit the open fire, poured a cider and watched the kids playing on the rope swings by the river. Most excellent.
Bala is a couple of miles away with local shops and watersports on the lake.
We paid £15.00 per night for family of 6, plus dog. We visited my brother and family on a site by the lake. This would have cost us £35.00 per night for being pitched in rows like sardines, manicured grass and tarmac roads. It was, however, right on the lake shore and we had a great day in the canoes and inflatables.
If you like the idea of wild camping and truly getting back to nature in a beautiful area of the world, this is the site for you. The owners were friendly and love to see children running freely and having adventures. We loved it.

The riverside camping is fantastic, what a location. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Stan is a jovial bloke, but nothing is too much trouble. We are looking forward to visiting again this summer, August to be exact, sunshine already booked. The facilities at the main campsite are basic but clean, as long as the site is not too full. The one portaloo down by the river could be upgraded, but perfect if you want to get away from it all and you can build a campfire!

We had no trouble getting a pitch on what was a very busy weekend at other sites. No idea why, because this one is just fine. The lady who signed us in was very friendly and helpful, she explained there are two fields. One by the river and one nearer to the farm buildings.
We had a look at the river field, which is down a bumpy track, about 5 minutes drive. It has portaloos and that is it. Fine if you have brought everything you need, if you camp there you'll need to collect water at the top field. The only thing which put us off camping there was that the grass was very long when we visited.
The main field is perfect though - very flat. Tents and caravans in separate fields. Toilets and showers were clean, and there is a washing up room with a fridge.
No hot water to be had though. Not sure if this was a temporary problem because there were signs 'HOT WATER' next to all the sinks.
The butcher does meat deliveries if you fancy a BBQ and there is free firewood provided.
Bala is about 5 minutes drive away. The area is well-known for walking, cycling and canoeing, this site would make a perfect base for any of these activities.

Had a fab bank holiday weekend here. Friendly and relaxed site, loads of room for kids and dogs. Campfires at night fantastic. Toilets and showers clean and tidy, I've got no complaints. Large groups allowed which makes it more fun, any trouble makers are soon made to clear off. Fab site and going back soon.

Arrived on a busy Bank Holiday. Things were a bit hectic and muddy. The setting is lovely with good views but I wasn't very happy about having to lay my electrical hook up cable across a gateway that was used by people and vehicles. I pointed this out to the owner who allowed me to plug into a hook up the other side of the fence as the tent there didn't want it.
There were lots of groups and the rest of our friends were staying down on the riverside field. They'd managed to get stuck on arrival as it had rained previously but had been assisted to a large area in which to pitch. Lovely views but very long grass. Only problem was that there was no water at all and they had to come up to the main site to replenish supplies of fresh water.
It got a lot quieter after the Bank holiday but we decided to move on as the toilets and showers had not been cleaned at all and were pretty disgusting. A bucket & mop with filthy cold water sat in the corner of the gents but didn't seem to move. Perhaps this doesn't bother other people but it annoyed us.
A bit of effort on the facilities would make this a very good site.

Lovely flat site with vans placed to perimeter of field allowing play area to centre.
Situated about 2+ miles out of Bala.
Owners very friendly, no access to basic food stuffs, milk etc, nearest is Bala, but can order a selection of meats for delivery later on, nearest pub is also Bala.
Facilities are water points at several locations around field 3 toilets and 3 showers, showers a bit weak, free hot water. They ok for me but some could find primitive ie no heating and a bit cramped and they struggled to keep them mud free. Next door there are two washing up sinks.
We arrived on the bank holiday friday and the area around the toilets got very muddy but dried up by Saturday when we got some sun. There is a field off the caravan field which you can use to exercise your dogs, it's huge which the dog appreciated also has a stream running along its entrance edge, which the kids seemed to enjoy. For the real hardy ie only a portaloo or two there is a further field right on the river about 10/15 min walk, lovely but be aware can get boggy, but stan is there to assist. Overall, wonderfully quiet site even with lots of little ones running about well worth a visit and cracking value for money, cost £15 per day all in.

The site is in a beautiful setting with views which are stunning. The toilet / shower block were in the process of being updated as we were there. There are water points and EHU points and a play area for children. You can have camp fires which was great and the wood is provided by the farmer each day. (This is a 'no music' site which for us was great). The site is ideal for small children and older children as there is lots of room to play and explore. The farmers wife Chris is lovely and she took us into the milking shed to see how the cows were milked and we saw some newborn calves. Bala is about 2 miles away and has everything you would need ie. Shops, restaurants, bars, pharmacy, petrol station, butchers etc. Overall I would highly recommend this site and cannot wait to return.

As pointed out by previous reviews the facilities aren't top notch, although improvements are in the pipeline.
Now for the good bit, have been camping/caravanning most of my life and this was the best weekend we have ever had! We were part of a large pre-arranged camping party and the owners did everything in their power to make our stay enjoyable. Yes, they actually encourage groups of friends to go on holiday together, and enjoy themselves, and tenters get treated like equals! I don't usually use exclamation marks but just cant help myself!
Firewood is provided and we also brought, and were allowed to use, our own goals for dads against lads type stuff. It's like camping is supposed to be but never is due to anally retentive, class obsessed site owners. For our part we kept the ball away from cars and the kids away from the fires, plus we tidied our own mess up before going home. If everyone does this the liberal attitude should carry on, we can only spoil it for our selves. Will definitely use this site again.

Stayed in the bottom fields by the river. This was a perfect spot for a relaxing weekend as we had the field almost to ourselves. The field was flat. The scenery was amazing. You are allowed camp fires and the owner supplies all the fire wood, this is all stored on the main campsite which has 2 small toilet blocks with a shower in each block. The track down to the camping field was fine and stan the man was on the gate keeping it quiet and secure for the kids. If you want a quiet relaxing break with perfect scenery I would recommend this campsite, its just a shame you cant book the weather as well.
