What a great site for visiting Southport
Facilities as you would expect spotless all of the time
Nice Park next door and a quick stroll to the sand dunes and beach
10 - 15 minutes walk into Southport passing a morrisons on the way
Will definitely return sooner rather than later
Only gave 6 out of 10 for child friendliness as there's no play area on site but there's a very good Park directly accessed from the site

Nice polite staff with a great location. Nice easy walk into Southport.
New facility's are excellent and the site has had a huge extension since our last visit.
Only downside is the astronomical price of just under £45 per on ght with 3 adults and 1 child. Probably won't stay again as willowbank is just down the road and is £20 per night cheaper. But I guess you have to pay for its location.

We arrive in our motor home sat 6th Feb to a nice warm welcome to the newly assigned warden. He was very informative were to go in the area and we're nice to eat out. The site was above excellent, nice spacious pitches and in a good location for the beach for warmer seasons and a nice 10 minute stroll through the park to the shops and attractions including the fair which was closed due to winter. After a rainy walk to the centre we we greeted by a selection of different shops and a nice small market, plenty of pubs and eateries and cafes. We spent the day wandering around the market town before settling down in a few of the pubs on offer for a spot of tea. After returning to the campsite which proved to be peaceful we settled for the night. After a great nights rest we were blessed with a immaculate toilet block with a great disabled shower/toilet room which was useful to myself as having MS. The only downfall was the block was cleaned between 10. 15 till 12 which made it a bit of a rush to shower after the night before This site is faultless and we will be returning in the very near future for a few more nights to enjoy southport property once the weather becomes a bit warmer. Thankyou for a lovely stay

Not the friendliest of wardens on this site. In fact after my 'interaction' with the warden on check in I actually decided not to return to the office during my stay. Seeing them around the site they were very aloof and when I questioned one about the whereabouts of the service toilet when the toilet block was closed it obviously caused great annoyance, not at all helpful like wardens on other sites perhaps they were having a bad couple of days.
Apart from that the site is wonderfully placed for walking into town there was also a cycle path along the prom and we wish we had brought our bikes although you can hire them at the Eco centre up the road from the site. Everything else has been mentioned lovely walk into town down rotten row past brilliant flower beds accessed via gate at rear of site.
One thing I would mention is the site has a public footpath running through it so seemed quite open to visitors and this made me feel vulnerable visiting the toilet block after dark. Luckily we had just purchased a porta potty for the van before this visit so it wasn't a problem but as not all tourers have toilets on board it might be worth considering.
All in all a brilliant stay plenty to do, don't let the greeting on arrival put you off.

This is a typical Caravan Club Site, very well maintained with immaculate Facilities (the site was extended in 2014 so half is brand new) It is situated just a 10 minute walk from Southport town centre and there is a large Morrisons Supermarket 5 minutes away. There is a very large park area adjacent to the site with a large outdoor model railway alongside ! all in all its a great site in a very convenient location ! we will return

This is a lovely site. Its ups are that it is within walking distance of the Town, with the lovely Lord Street shops and places to eat. There is a large supermarket very close, with café. There is a lovely walk down to the Sea and there is direct access from the site to Victoria Park with a reasonable children's play park, lovely gardens etc. The beach at Southport is very muddy in places and not the type of beach for kids to make 'sand pies'. There are clean places where you can sunbathe if nice, and play ball games etc. Don't dig down! Mud and oil is all that our grandchildren found. The Southport Pleasure park is very close to the site. The rides are accessed via a card payment system and we found it quite expensive. £4 each for most of the rides etc. For smallish children. The promenade is lovely, however, and is backed by lovely gardens and the boating lake. This is a short stroll from the site and wonderfully relaxing. There is a train up the pier and the ice creams are fab.
The downside to the campsite for us, is the usual caravan club ridiculous regime related to cleaning the showers and toilet blocks. Yes, the ablutions are spotless and work wonderfully. Unfortunately, even with what appeared to be quite a few staff for this site, the toilets and showers are closed [both blocks, both gents and ladies at the same time], for 1 and 3/4 hours from 10. 15 each morning. I know that most people have chemi facilities in their caravans, but I am sure that, like ourselves, most people only use these to urinate. [yes, lets get down to the nitty gritty!] To defecate we always go to the 'proper' toilets. As most people do this in the mornings, and as most people on holiday do not get up early, why close the toilet blocks for such a long time every morning?? There is a service toilet available which had a queue of at least 3 people every time I went to use it whilst the toilet blocks were closed. On such a large site I do not think that this is appropriate. There are 2 toilet blocks, and surely they could be cleaned at different times!
My second problem is that on all of the times we have stayed here we have never been able to get a TV signal. We have a good aerial that works most other places. The warden told me that other people do not have trouble. Other campers told me that they did. This site is quite expensive, when it is considered that members also pay a membership fee to the club. I think that cable TV points could have been fitted in the re-furb of the site.

Picture this: The first day of opening this year and over 25 units parked waiting to get in to a totally empty site. Eventually, the gates were opened at the appointed hour. In the office, two wardens processed the bookings whilst another two stood idly by twiddling their thumbs. It took us almost 40 minutes in the queue before we reached reception and then to be told that the motorhome service point was not operating and so the search for water began. Only two water points in the entire site to service the large number of pitches and note that the taps will not take the screw fittings now common to many hoses so had to fill up using the tap provided for the waste hog flushing. In seeing the distress of an elderly women seeking the toilet, I directed her around the corral erected on three sides of the toilet block. A warden appeared and when questioned as to why this system, (causing great inconvenience to visitors on the northern area of the site), was implemented, he said that it was all about money and that to provide a more convenient pathway on the other side would mean the loss of one pitch. He further stated that it didn't bother him in the slightest. This is heralded as a 'flagship' site for the Caravan Club but apart from flagship fees of £28. 50 per night. For an UNSERVICED! pitch and WiFi at £2. 50 per day, we saw nothing that isn't found at much lower rates on many a private site in the UK (which incidentally, we'll favour when visiting the area again). Southport CC site: Style over substance I'm afraid.

We stayed on this site for 2 nights. With the site being a base for our daughter to visit from Liverpool. The train station is a short walk away. The location of this site is very good as it is close to Stockport and shops and touristy activities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were advised to drive round the site and pick our pitch (not easy in the dark) Our pitch was big with lush grass and some hard standing. Some hedging between pitches would improve privacy and encourage wildlife. I am guessing our pitch was in the new area so trees and hedging may be planned. The site was quiet and had a friendly atmosphere. The shower/toilet block was fantastic, probably one of the best we have used. Clean and large, good sized showers, plenty of hot water, good water pressure with plenty of hooks and space to move. Will be back.

Approach easy access, direction on the website are fine, sat nav will take you through the town - either are ok but I suspect the town could be congested in the summer so website direction would be better.
Check in - Caravan club site, we were shown available pitches and the whereabouts of the facilities. Really nice welcome.
Pitch - our pitch was large with electric hook up and a space for the awning.
Facilities - very nice and exceptionally clean, but then they were new so you would expect them to be. Lots of hot water, and a separate area in the shower for clothes divided by a shower curtain.
Local area - lots and lots to do in Southport, it's a seaside town but with lots of lovely shops and restaurants along with the usual seaside attractions. It's also not far from Liverpool or Blackpool. Cycle route from the site and walking paths. We hired bikes from the Eco centre which is a short walk from the site and cycled to Formby. There is a morrisons supermarket within walking distance from the site.
Summary - clean facilities, all round good site well worth staying at. Southport has lots to offer and you should be able to find something for everyone.
Was this site for us - Being close to southport was a real plus and this site is the best you could wish for if visiting this town and surrounding area. It's not the sort of site we prefer, lots of caravans and motor homes parked with electrics hookups - nothing to separate the pitches but a strip of grass and caravans in front, behind and to the side of most units. It's a nice clean site but I would only go back if I wanted to be within walking distance of southport. Unfortunately we experienced a lot of noise at night from the road and town with lots of police sirens, on two nights - not the fault of the site, but relevant as this in our experience is not a quiet site, that coupled with the notices warning about a spate of bike thefts reminded you that you were staying in very close proximity to a town.

Consistent with most Caravan Club sites 'The Ablutions' are splendid, adequate, well-maintained and well-serviced. To be super critical maybe the design of the Motorhome dumps could have been better to allow stray spilled water to flow into the available dumps rather than away from them.
Other correspondents have mentioned the extensive extension of the original site. It's maybe too early to be critical of the end result given the complete lack of any hedge or tree planting so far(October 2014). Just now the mature part of the site does appear to be far more pleasing to the eye. Perhaps because of its immaturity, and maybe because it was fully occupied, the newest part of the site did slightly resemble a collection of vehicles waiting to be evicted from a field! I imagine this perception would change if planting schemes are allowed to get underway.
The Site information makes it very clear that you should not arrive before midday. If you do then it may be prudent to obey the reminder by the entrance ('WAIT HERE until sign removed') and park outside 'til summoned (we waited!). An explanation of why this is important would probably avoid unnecessary confrontation between management and offenders.
I don't want to give the wrong impression; this is still one of my Division I CC sites. It's position is magnificent with plenty of interesting walks and cycling opportunities and an easy stroll to Southport Town centre. The Southport Entertainment centre is twenty minutes walk away where plenty of good acts and Shows appear regularly. A Morrissons supermarket is just the other side of the easily accessed Park. Using a mobility scooter from the Site would appear to be practicable and a pleasing experience.
Television reception from satellite or aerial appeared good and there are only a few places where the signal might be obscured.
This is a grand Site and in time, I hope, will become a great Site!
