This was our first outing with a caravan and so we can not compare to any other site. We loved the location, right behind the site is the large park where the flower show is held and opposite the site you will find a large coastal space that is safe to let your dog run off lead.

The town is very close and an easy walk. The site was quiet even though it was almost full and the toilets were very clean, we did not use the showers as we tried our own but the water seemed very hot from chatting to other guests. The toilets and showers had been a concern of mine when we bought the van as I am fussy, no complaints what so ever. We were given a key for them and I do not know if this is standard or if it was due to the fact it was close to a park to stop anyone using them?

We will definitely return as this site offered everything for a family with a dog. My husband liked the fact he could park the car and we could walk to a supermarket and into the town. The park and ride is very close for anyone with walking difficulties. Between the coastal walk and the caravan site is a road you enter on, this is a dead end just past the site so do not be put off with any traffic noise as it is only the caravans that will pass.

Southport is a lovely place with lots of parks and gardens. They do have a fun fair but in our opinion it is much nicer than Blackpool. It was the beginning of the season but the streets were very clean. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from April until September and the fines are heavy for not cleaning up. As a dog owner I agree with this and the park warden offered us bags should we need extra and gave our dog some treats.

We visit this site every year sometimes twice a year, my only problem is that if you don,t book early enough you can't get in especially at weekends. If you arrive here before 12 noon you will have to join a queue outside the gate. The wardens are very helpful and the toilet block is always immaculate. Apart from one or two we find the hardstanding pitches very spacious. A couple of minutes walk from the gate brings you to the park and ride which is free but if you take the car you will have to pay to park it. There is a morrisons at the end of the road about 5mins walk and the town is about 10mins walk. There is a gate on the site which takes you into Victoria park and you can walk through there to the town unless there is an event on in which case you won't be able to walk through. We visited this site on the may bank holiday and even though it was full it was pretty quiet, we shall be going back in August.

Had our trial run as we have not caravanned since 1976 in South Africa, had a couple of days at Southport CC site, a very quiet site and very well run. The toilets / showers etc were immaculate and the whole site is a credit to the staff and the CC.

I have no yard stick to judge this site against any other, I just hope they are all going to be nearly as good.

Our children are adults so we do not check on child friendly features however with Victoria park next door and the beach (sandhills) and cinema's a walk away I think it wont be difficult to keep them occupied.

One last thing, I would definitely describe this site as 'Rabbit friendly' !

We came to this site to try out our caravan when we first bought it and we've been coming back to it ever since!

The facilities are as you would expect from a CC site - superb, immaculate, spacious and everything you could possibly need. We've been on site for Party in the Park and the Proms in the Park (takes place in the adjacent Victoria Park) which were fantastic (no need to buy a ticket!) with a great firework display as a finale.

The promenade, shops, beach and pier are all within easy walking distance.

There is a model car racing track (I never knew how seriously people take this until I saw it one weekend here - amazing!), model steam railway run by enthusiasts on which you can ride and a model boating lake, all just outside the gate-along with a large children’s playground and a very large dog walking field (if the beach isn't big enough!)

Our children love this site and are always clamouring to go back to it.

This site would be ideal for most people, it's not noisy (unless there's live music in Victoria Park!), there are multitude of places, events and attractions incorporating just about every taste and appeal to all ages.

This site and the wardens are to the excellent standard of the majority of Caravan Club sites but beware! We were on the receiving end of a group of 15-20 youths who think it is good fun to throw eggs and stones at caravans whilst you sleep in them. The result £3000 damage to our caravan and two terrified children. This is not the first time this has happened here, apparently there was a similar occurrence earlier in the season. If you go don't stay at the bottom end of the site which backs onto the park and the esplanade.

Super location, pleasant helpful wardens, immaculate generous level pitches, spotless loos and showers. All you would expect from a Caravan Club site really. This site is ideal for owners of motorhomes as everything is within walking distance. We would definitley visit Southport CC Site again.

Just back from site. Great, level pitches. Toilet/showers very clean.

We had our grandkids with us, their bath was clean and very tidy.

Staff are very frendly and can not do enough for you!

Very tidy site would return again.

Chinese takeaway, through park past croquet club turn left 250yards

We used this site as a stop off, one night only, on our way home from the North East, and also to visit A. Gormley's 'Another Place', art instalation on Crosby Beach, well worth a visit.

The site is very tidy, the toilet/shower block was warm, very clean and modern. The pitches are well spaced. We just had time to take the ten minute walk into Southport before bedding down. As noted by others, everything is within easy walking distance of the campsite. My one reservation is that the site attracts young families, and if you were hoping for a quiet time this might not be the place foy you.

We stopped at Southport for the Easter break, and as usual it is up to CC standards with helpful wardens and generous pitches. The beauty of this site is that it's only a 5 minute walk through a nice park till you get to the shops and very pretty Lords St.

The weather was not brilliant when we stayed, but if you have children there was a Bowling Alley, Vue Cinema, and Splash World 5-10 mins away to keep them amused if it rains. I'm sure we shall return to this site for many years to come.

This site is in a great location, easy walking distance to all the Southport attractions.  The site is in a peaceful location, it is long and narrow with all the pitches hard standing.  It would be a good site to visit all year round. There is lots to see and do, from shopping to the pier, beach, cinema, bowling etc. It is an easy  walk to the newly opened Splash World with all its water slides which is great for families. You would not need to use your car at all when visiting this site. If I had any criticism it is that there is just one shower block with 4 showers (in the ladies and I assume the same in the gents) for 100 pitches, during the school holidays this is not really enough.  As the site is so long some of the pitches are quite a distance from the facilities this site would benefit from a second shower block.  Having said that I still would not hesitate to recommend it and we will be visiting again.
