Returned a couple of weeks ago from this site and we had a lovely holiday.
The site is very well kept with the toilets and showers, as usual with a CC site, very clean. There are only 4 showers in the ladies but I used them every day at different times and never had to wait to use them.
I do agree with previous reviewer that the site is badly signed posted and as the approach is a very busy area one brown sign is really inadequate.
You can walk through Victoria Park into Southport itself which takes about 10 minutes. The park is is very nicely kept and yes it is used by a lot of people walking their dogs, but people did seem to clean up after their dogs.
Southport itself is a lovely town with a definite 'buzz' about it, designer shops, cafes and bistros. Lovely seafront gardens and pier. Which is unlike a lot of our seaside towns today.
Just one small criticism of the site. There are 2 gates in the middle of the site, one takes you through the park, the other through to the sand dunes and onto the road. This gate when you go through has a kerb drop of about 12 inches, which is ok if you are fit but my husband had a mobility scooter and we had to lift the scooter down the kerb onto the road, to enable us to cross over, as there is no pathway on the camp site side, and back up again on return (we would have returned through the park way but they lock the gates at 9pm).
Ok it was no big deal as we could have gone a bit further along the road and entered through the main gate but thought it worthy of a mention if anyone new uses the site.
On the whole a lovely site with nice helpful wardens and we will definitely be going back.

Caravan Club site (members only) at the usual caravan club standard, but with slightly dated toilet block – however very clean.
The pitches are all reasonably sized hardstanding with grass verge, feeling a bit cramped when full due to the site layout being long and narrow.
Friendly and helpful site wardens. Site attracting mainly families due to attractions and amusements offered by Southport as Northern holiday resort.
The beach is 5 minutes’ walk away, a well-stocked large Morrison’s supermarket 10 minutes, funfair 10 minutes, boating lakes 15 minutes and Southport’s town centre 15 minutes.
Well located if you are looking for Southport seaside fun and amusements with children, but avoid if you are looking for peace and tranquillity.

Great site and wardens top class and a very friendly site, but every one seemed to keep themselves to them selves
Also toilets well kept and site immaculate
Southport very expensive for the teetotaller
Great big theatre but nothing on till late august September.
Go to the Chinese at the plaza, all day buffet and very cheap
The boating lake entertainment was fantastic, Jeff King kept it going all day and had the crowd rocking, what a entertainer

Have just returned from Southport Caravan Club site where we have spent the weekend.
Site poorly signposted--only 1 sign on roundabout noticed.
Initial impression of site from the road was poor, this was the ugliest site we have ever stayed at!(Bounded by a brick wall with graffiti on it in a no through road.)
Once inside it was a typical Caravan Club site--usual clean toilet facilities(with key), friendly wardens, usual facilities. Right side on site on entering gate was much better layout.
A public footpath runs through the middle of the site.
Immediate area outside site was grotty. Nature Trail through sand dunes directly opposite site--strewn with rubbish and dog faeces.
Victoria Park adjacent to site has a play area for younger children but again the park was filled with litter.
A short walk through the park takes you to the derelict fairground and marine lake--strewn with toilet paper and takeaway cartons and graffiti covering the walls.
Nearby beach was not sandy--more muddy.
Cinema, restaurants on shopping park 15 minutes walk away.Pay and display on car parks.
Pier was open, with tram on.
Splashworld Pool also a short walk through the park. This is much smaller than it looks on the website ---so go to the side of the pool and have a look before you decide whether you want an hour and a half ticket or an all day ticket. We found the shorter time in the pool was enough to do everything lots of times--slides etc.Cafe at Splashworld too and spectators area.
In summary Southport Caravan Site was nice, a typical CC site and location was good for facilities but Southport itself needs cleaning up--litter removing and graffiti removing--before we would return. It is such a shame that this once vibrant Victorian town has been left to the vandals and the yobs to spoil.
On the way home we visited Rufford Old Hall in Ormskirk, where Shakespeare once played. We spent a pleasant couple of hours spent in a relatively small National Trust property and a walk aong the Canal next to it.

Just returned from this site. Great location hardly used the car all week. The park and ride buses just down the road are free and drop you down the main high street.
Town centre easily walked. Morrisons is in walking distance but you may need the car for tesco or asda, both 24hr (note all supermarkets are pay and display).
The site is up to the usual caravan club site standard. Large pitches, all hardstanding. The one side to the right, as you go through the barrier, seems the most popular.
Also the shop only accepts cash for all items including gas apart from pitch fees.
Only a couple of drawbacks if you are up the top of the site (the one to the left as you go through the barrier) you cannot turn around a twin axle caravan if all the pitches are full!
We tried and had to reverse into a space between two caravans and an awning be warned, and its a long walk to the toilets (key operated) don't forget your key.
Also there is only 1 service point up the one end, apart from these points a great site and we will go back again.

Had a week on this site last year and found it excellent and within easy walking distance of the town centre.
Good access to site, with level pitches and in keeping with all club sites the toilet and shower blocks are very clean and well maintained, with lots of hot water.
Very quiet at night and as it is a members only site people do tend to have more thought for those around them. Not a site if you want to party all night or have a campfire, but still good for families as it is almost on the beach and you do feel safe on site.
Staff very friendly and helpful but if there is a problem they are straight on it, club sites can seem a little regimented but it does mean you can relax outside your van and not have to suffer someone elses taste in music, or bad language.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this site and will return again.

Just got back from a very pleasant weekend on this site (this was helped along by the excellent weather)
The site is pristine as are the toilets and showers, the wardens are helpful and seem genuinely friendly.
The location is ideal with only a short walk past morrisons (handy) into southport which is definitely up market compared with a lot of other seaside towns.
A larger percentage of m/homes than usual we put this down to the location. We thought the road outside would be a bit noisy till we realised that it is now blocked off from the roundabout at the end so is now in effect a large access road.
Can't fault this place at all oh! and left at the gate and then left at the roundabout is the fishermans rest (5 min walk) as nice and friendly a pub as you could hope to get anywhere (and food as well)

Follow signs for park & ride on the esplanade as there is only 1 small sign for the campsite which is easily missed, sat nav only takes you close.
Location is fantastic. Only a short walk will take you to the beach (miles of sand & sand dunes), the swimming (fun pool with flumes not open all year), the playpark (no park on site itself), funland rides & amusements & the town centre. Southport is really nice if not a bit expensive, plenty places to eat at all budgets, a cinema & bowling complex etc is not far if the weather is poor.
Campsite is well kept. There are millions of rabbits which kept the kids amused (warning signs about rabbit holes in grass to watch your step). Toilets are clean and adequate although if you are pitched at the far away end of site you may have quite a trek to the loo's (only 1 block). Water, waste & rubbish points are available and located at various points. Pitches are a good size & 95% hard standing. The
wardens were friendly & office was open 9am-5pm. I assume if you leave the site before 9am you post your toilet keys through the office letterbox, this is what we did although there were no instructions or signs of this.
We used this site as a journey breaker, we stayed a couple of days but could have stayed longer & will probably go back if we passing that area of the country. Good open spaces all around for kids & or dogs. I did feel it was expensive (for what you get) at £22 per night incl electric hook up.

We have stayed at Southport 4 times in the last couple of years and this is just the best site to stay at in the area bar none.
The staff on the reception are very welcoming and helpful and we were able to make a booking for the following Friday by asking at the office (the web site said it was full for the weekend) this was a great relief for us as we had to do a 250 mile run up from the south that day.
Agree with the other reviews re the facilities and pitches etc – first class. The next time we go we must stay for a few days to sample the delights of the town, looking forward to that already. Many thanks

Just spent the weekend at the Southport site and I must say it's a credit to all the Wardens and staff that run this immaculate Site. Pitches are large & pristine. Toilets and Showers although by no means are new are kept very clean.
A great location for walking into the town centre with all it's amenities including the new swimming Pool with its slides etc. Will definitely return but the problem is trying to Book this very popular Site!
