My first night in a motorhome without the luxury some of you have of company and warm weather. I had been loaned a large 4 berth Bessacarr which I had no problem getting onto the field. When I arrived, I felt quite excited by the stunning view and the ambient trickle of the brook. On entering the pub, I was given the immediate and friendly attention of the owner. He told me how the site idea is fairly new and after completing the loo block he will get the children's playground done for next season. I hooked myself up then relaxed for a while under the pouring rain before taking myself into the pub at 6:30pm. There I got myself a beer, some fairly reasonable food and listened to the locals talk Welsh.
The loo/shower block could have done with some heating at that time of year, but what the hell, the location and friendliness made of for any negative points - next stop Snowdonia National Park.

We stayed here for one night just to give our van a bit of a run out. The site is situated between Betws y Coed and Bala, next time we'll be taking our bikes as there seemed to be plenty of country lanes ideal for cycling.
The setting for this site is breathtaking with fantastic views of Snowdonia, we took some fab photo's. We didn't eat at the pub but the food did smell gorgeous and we will definitely give it a go next time.
As previous reviews have said make a note of pub opening times as they do have a timetable. Two toilet and shower rooms, which were clean and warm, definitely tested when we were there as temperature was freezing overnight into the morning!
There were no dishwashing facilities and there are plenty of buildings to accommodate but didn't spoil the site. We were allowed to pitch where we wanted to and there was plenty of space, I would imagine its very popular in the summer months so would recommend booking in advance.
Glad this is an all year round site as its only an hours drive away for us and staying for even one night was like a mini holiday, loved it!

Visited site in August 2010. This is an 'Excellent' little site, with fantastic views all round.Plenty of room for vans and campers alike. There are two new toilets and a hot shower is available as are electric hook-ups.
Lots to do and places to visit locally, with Betws-y-coed only a couple of minutes down the road making this site a good base for touring round.
There is a lovely Pub on site which serves excellent Food and Beer, it has a nice patio area for the summer nights.
Owners Mark and Heather are friendly and very helpful nothing seems to much trouble.
We can't wait to go back. Soon.

We have just stayed at the Y Giler Arms for the third year in a row. Having experienced the old facilities we were curious to see what improvements have been made.
I'm pleased to report that the new showers and toilets are a massive improvement on what was there before, our only criticism would be that the showers and toilets are combined, ie Each of the two cubicles has a shower and a toilet (and there are no cubicles with only toilets), so if someone is showering then nobody can use the toilet. Having said that, the showers are really good and if you put the heater on then it warms your towel up nicely. Plus a lot of the time the pub toilets are open so it's really not a problem.
One thing I would warn people about is to check the pub opening times before planning to eat there as they don't open all day, and on Mondays they don't open at all, but when they do open the food is absolutely delicious.
Mark the new owner is lovely and we found him extremely helpful and welcoming. I hope he stays around for a long time.
When we left a new fence was being put up which I think may have been for the children's play area.
I can't wait to go back again next year.

This campsite was clean and the grass was nicely cut. The pub was good and the meals we had were nice.
We forgot our hook up lead and the owner lent us one, which I thought was great service.
The problem identified in other reviews was there were not enough toilets and showers! There are now two toilets working and the second shower just needs the curtain and the shower head. In practice we didn't need to wait long for a shower.
The site is on the edge of Snowdonia, which is fantastic! We also had a nice day out on the Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway.

Just come back fron a 2 week holiday at this site. Great little site, they have 3 fields and the new owners try to make sure no more than 10 pitches are in each field. When we were at the site 90% of the time we had no more than 3 tents in our field. The owners are new and are doing a lot to improve the site. At the min 1 shower but they are well on the way to getting the second one finished with it in use all bar the shower. We wish them all our luck on making this site a little gem, and all the locals we met at the pub made us feel very welcome and now some are friends.

Camp site fairly small and quite quiet. Pub on site serves food most evenings. We had fried breakfasts 2 mornings while we were there which was good.
New owners have been there since October and are in the process of improving the site. There is only one shower and 2 toilets but as camp site is only small not too bad, both were clean and tidy. No hairdrying facilities however! Owners are planning a children's playarea in the near future.
We would stay here again but an extra shower would be nice!

After searching this website for a place not too far away with a good pub we ended up at the Y Giler Arms. What a good weekend we had, a great site and a great pub. We never eat where we are staying but this time we did, a basic menu but very good! Very good reception from the people in charge, we will definitely go back. Also the area is beautiful. (could do with an extra shower)

A great friendly little site with lovely views and improving facilities. The new owners are really making a mark on the site and seem to have rectified, or are in the process of, all problems highlighted by previous reviewers.
The new toilet/shower block (one cubicle finished when we stayed, two more being fitted out) was clean, warm and big enough for my wife and I to shower our 3 month old son. Shower was free and warm.
The Giler Arms pub, across the car park from the tent field, serves a good pint of bitter and mild and good quality pub grub.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay and will stay their again when we are next in the area.

Visited in mid May stayed for 4 nights (weather great in day very cold at night) Great little site, very cheap. Owners only been here since October and are turning the place around and the pub. Very enthusiastic.
On going upgrade to provide 3 toilets/showers. 1 complete while we were there done to a good standard. Ideas to make washing up area etc.
Bathams hand pull beer and good food in pub.
