This site has convenient access bordering the A5 and is surrounded by attractions including Snowdon and the North and West Welsh coasts all within easy driving distance.
The site is now under new management with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere offering a traditional pub with excellent Batham's beer, Pool and Darts. B&B, rooms most ensuite, and a restaurant is available. Check for opening times.
This is a dog friendly site and we were able to use some empty fields to exercise our dog. Poop bags required. The lake was full and looked beautiful particularly when frozen and covered with snow! The static Caravan was fairly modern and was beautifully furnished. It has a great shower, toilet one double bedroom and one twin room with the ability to extend an additional double bed in the lounge. Gas and Electric heating with a coin operated electricity meter. We stayed warm even in -4 C H&C running water (Gas boiler) Cooker, fridge, Microwave, Satellite TV not set up yet, DVD player and radio.
I can understand the previous comments about the facilities for campers and caravaners! They were clean but dated and primitive. The good news, the new Landlord tells me that by March the existing block will be replaced and there will be three separate shower and toilet units. I can't wait to go back.

The pub is nice enough didn't actually use it.
Plenty of space for dog walk and stream.
Camping field Not too quiet so you can have a drink and a chat till later than usual.
1 toilet 1 shower both dirty full of cobwebs and very dated - brown toilet. No paper Friday day / night Worse facilities I have come across.
1x Sink wouldn't wash my dog in it
Dogs all off leash running round, I have 2 big dogs always tethered but all the other dogs - and everyone seemed to have one were running wild coming to our camping area.
If you do still go bear in mind this is rural Wales you wont get any pub food unless its 12-2 or 7-9.
We ate at Saracens Head not too far from site they serve all day and food was good great prices.
We only chose the site as it had space on bank holiday weekend, loved Betsw y coed but would not recommend this site unless you have your own toilet and shower.

Visited in August in our touring caravan, hubby myself and the dog. Basic campsite, flat grass well drained pitches with beautiful views of the surrounding country side, one toilet one shower these were not cleaned during our stay. Nice pub with friendly staff only open in the evening 7.30ish. The site boasts a well stocked course fishing pool,we went to fish, how disappointed we were to find the fishing pool was drained with only a foot of water left in it. If you want relaxation with beautiful countryside views, the beautiful town of betws y coed just seven miles away, then this site is for you, however if you want to fish go elsewhere until or if this problem is rectified. Would definitely go back if pool situation was attended to then would be idyllic.

We've just had 3 nights at the Giler Arms. The facilities (only a single toilet and single shower (which is free) plus washing machine) are extremely basic but seemed to be clean. They look very dated so I assume the plans to update them haven't happened yet.
We found the owners to be extremely laid back, in fact we had to go and search them out on the morning we were leaving, so that we could pay.
As the weather was pretty bad during most of our stay it was a godsend to have the pub to go to in the evening, where we could get warm and dry. The food was absolutely delicious and the waitress who served us was lovely, and great with our 7 year old daughter, who was welcome in the pub. Unfortunately they are not open at lunchtimes during the week or on Mondays at all.
The site is ideally located for exploring Snowdonia, only about 7 miles from Betws-y-Coed. It's extremely quiet and if you want somewhere to go for peace and quiet we would recommend it. I just wish the weather had been better so that we could have gone for a walk round the lake!
We will definitely be going there again.

This was the first time that we had gone camping as a family, although the site was very basic including the shower & toilet block, we can't fault the site or it's owners in any way. We arrived mid morning, owners were polite & friendly told us to pick a pitch. Site was fairly quiet when we arrived, setting was fantastic, views were to die for. Lovely fishing lake that you could take a leisurely stroll around if fishing isn't your thing ! Plenty of walking opportunities, go - karting only a few miles down the road for kids and adults. Owners informed us that new shower and toilet facilities were to be installed in 2008 which will make a huge improvement to the site, definitely recommend this site to anyone

The site is perfectly located for exploring the Snowdon. It was the first trip with our new van and was ideal as it is just 2 hours from home. The on site facilities are a little basic but the owners are in the process of updating them. But the real plus point is the pub serving Bathams Ales which is the holy grail as far as I'm concerned, the food in the restaurant is to die for and the owners are very helpful doing anything to help, at the time we booked they had no space on the van field so allowed us to pitch on the camping field next door. As our party consists of me, my disabled wife and her wheelchair bound mother then we are quite picky although the site dose not have dedicated facilities we had no problems and were welcomed in to the pub muddy boots wheelchair and all. We will be useing this site again.
