 Stayed here for 2 weeks in August together with group of families and lots of kids. It's a fantastic site with a high quality playground and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the family.
It's a spacious site and we never felt crowded.
There are quite a lot of rules but that's typical for a CCC site and the rules are there for a purpose. (Rules also help prevent the type of campers who aren't interested in rules).
As noted in the other reviews, it's a windy site but that's the price to pay for a magnificent view of the sea. We actually had to pitch our tent on the day that (the tailwinds) of Hurricane Bertha were passing over the UK and we therefore needed lots of help pitching our tent, and got it up at the second attempt with the help of the legendary Schleiders and Bambergers.
There's lots to do in the area - I'll list a few:
North Berwick Law and Air Museum.
St Abbs Head - clifftop walk
Pease Bay and Cove
John Muir Country Park - you can then walk from there to the campsite
Lammermuir Hills - Lammer Law
Edinburgh and attractions - incl the Fringe during Aug
Pressmenan Woods
Trapain Law - has a picnic spot
Blairdrummon Safari and zoo - 1. 25 hours drive but well worth it if you get there early enough.
Will no doubt be returning at some point.

We hve visited before but got quite a surprise at the new play park that has been built. It never had one until this year. There is also a large, fenced in grassy area for children to play very safely.
There is a dog walk with a great view and a ball games pitch.
The pitches are really large. Both the hard standing and the grass.
Staff were cheerful and friendly.
The shower block is well kept inside the building as well as outside with flowers in pots and patches.
Even the chemical disposal was spotlessly clean.
This site is now one of my favourites due to it now feeling welcoming to families.
A sea view from every pitch just adds yet another positive.

Lovely site, with great sea views. Staff friendly and welcoming, showed us to our pitch. All facilities clean and tidy. Great motorhome service area, although water points on site can be a bit of a trek depending on where you are pitched. Nice walk along the coast into Dunbar, about an hour and half. Most of it along side the golf course so dogs must be on leads for most of the way. Dunbar itself is not that exciting, but a drive to North Berwick is a must, lovely beach and seabird centre and a high street with some lovely independent shops and nice cafés.

We went to this site to do some walking on the john muir way. And planned to walk down to cockburnspath. Cracking site well kept with nice clean toilets etc. Didn't use the site shop but it had the usual basics. Bit windy when we were there but it's on a hill by the sea so probably not a surprise. Planning to return in a few weeks to do some more walking. Would recommend the site to anyone!

An open and spacious site overlooking the sea and the small harbour town of Dunbar.
We arrived at just after 8pm on a Friday. The site was easy to find off the A1. Reception was closed but staff were on hand to take us to our pitch. Friendly and helpful with advice etc.
Pitch was on one of the lower slopes looking out to the sea. Site was busy as expected in peak season. Mostly motor homes and touring vans.
Rock pegs absolutely essential. Hard work pitching nevertheless.
Toilets and showers clean and fairly modern. Ample water and waste points about the site. Pitches well separated and lots of grassy spaces around. Two dog walking areas. Site is enclosed but still advisable to stay on leads.
Beach is 15 minutes walk from the site. Quite attractive but there are better ones a short drive away eg pease bay and belhaven bay.
Dunbar is 10 minutes by car. There is an asda just outside of town, which also has a petrol station. In town there are a number of eateries including Chinese, Indian, Turkish Kebabs, Italian, and Fish and Chips, as well as Coop, bakery, hardware shop, post office, banks and ATMs etc
Some people have commented on the cement works. From most parts of the site you don't see it. Only the higher ridge pitches have views to the Cement Works, and even then its almost a mile away. Noise from the A1 and railway line is minimal, only hearing them faintly during the night.
We camped in calm weather. I imagine the cold easterly winds could be problematic when they blow up because there's little shelter on site.
All in all a nicely placed site that is spacious and close to good facilities.

Usual Camping and Caravanning Club high standards, clean modern and well equipped shower block. Helpful and friendly wardens. The site is sloped so can be hard to find a good flat bit for a tent, and you need good strong pegs for the hard ground. However I had a lovely pitch with an interrupted view over Dunbar and the sea, lovely sunset every evening. It is very exposed and it was quite windy for a time, but didn't cause me any problems. There was a bit of background noise from the A1, the railway line, and the cement factory nearby but not too bad. Nice beach further along the road. You can go by train to Edinburgh (from Dunbar. £11. 20 return). Dunbar is a couple of miles away and is a pleasant little town, lovely fish and chip shop on the main street. Wall to wall golf courses in the area but lots of things to see and do. Lovely area, highly recommended. I was sorry to leave and will go again sometime.

There were more caravans on this site than I usually see on Caravan Club sites.
The site is well maintained and clean but has a very utilitarian and commercial feel. The gents could certainly do with a few more pictures or something to cheer up the decor.
The hardest to use Toilet waste sluice I have ever seen. The hose was hard for me to bend, too short and on a push tap.
Overall I got the impression this site was run for the staff by the staff, who did help me out with water troubles, but overall a biy standoffish.
Gripes over the location is beautiful though would be bleak on a rough weather day, nice walk along James Muir's Way to Dunbar, or the other to Thornton Loch And excellent views up and down the coast, great for bird life too and I even spotted Orchids on the dog walk. If you like a couple of days birding or wildflower hunting, great site.

Lovely site with gorgeous views of the sea and sunsets. The site is relatively new and the thought put into the design and layout is evident. The toilet blocks are superb even by Camping and Caravanning Club standards. They are closed between 11am and 12pm but this is usual for a club site. The welcome was friendly - the warden was in the process of handing out a treasure hunt for some children when we arrived.
The site is close to a decent Asda but also Dunbar which has a good selection of local shops and services although not much else to keep you occupied. It is ideally placed for visiting Edinburgh by car or train and the local coast. It is also very close to the A1 so perfect for a stopover.
The only downsides to the site are: the ground is hard and rock pegs are a must; the site's location exposes your tent to the wind; it's proximity to the cement works means you may be able to see it if you pitch at the top. Don't let these minor issues put you off though as it's well worth a visit!

I can only endorse the good reviews - this site restored my long-lost faith (as a CCC member) in CCC sites and their managers: these two were helpful and welcoming, and patient with our dithering about which pitch to chose for the most shelter in what was a severe storm. And it's a cracking site for views, which everyone can enjoy as the site is terraced. It cost £18 for 2 in a motorhome with EHU, which we thought was reasonable. (Yes, it's more expensive for non-members, but you recoup the membership fee in a week's camping on CCC sites. ) And yes, I do wonder why most CCC sites clean the toilets just when folk want to use them, but some other sites don't have alternative toilets which is a problem that doesn't apply here.
We found the plume from the nearby cement works was handy - it told us how strong the wind was (very!), and what direction it was blowing in (SE, so the line of trees was useful for shelter). We drove to the White Sands beach for a longer dog walk, but the motorhome had to park just outside as East Lothian car parks all have gantries. Haddington, North Berwick, Direlton, St Abbs - lots of pretty places to visit nearby. Farm shop at Knowe, west of Dunbar, is excellent.
One review comments adversely on the managers' reaction to a stranger's car driving through the security barrier, which I thought was an unfair criticism. On most sites I know (CCC or not) visitors report to the office first as a courtesy, and I always alert a site manager if I am expecting visitors. A security barrier is what it says on the tin - it stops my vehicle or caravan being stolen or people coming in to make mischief. I think the managers were acting in the reviewer's best interests, which goes back to my first positive comments.

Very friendly staff, helpful and when the gales blow in, surpass themselves in keeping your tent stapled to the very hard ground! The ground aspect here, is the main detriment to this site ! It is an infilled quarry, with topsoil only 25mm deep, and then a hard layer of stones so well compacted that it can withstand sledgehammer blows to make the toughest hardened steel pegs fold over like plastic !
The facilities are finest kind, hot good pressure showers, good hookups for power, and safe for children everywhere.
Unfortunately, having one tent commit hari kiri around us in a gale, and difficulty putting our tent up this year, we have decided not to avail ourselves of this site again.
A pity really, as it is lovely in many ways, with great staff, beautiful aspects over the Forth, but too much a task to put pegs into ground that could bounce cannon shells off without leaving a dent !
