I stayed on this site for 3 nights.
Staff were pleasant enough on arrival although when I mentioned that I had 2 friends and 1 sister coming to stay on 2 of the nights, they were very concerned that there would be noise and made it clear to me on 3 occasions that there should be no noise after 11 pm. I am a 40 year old woman with no interest in loud partying.
Charges as a non member add up to be expensive depending on number of people staying.
The site is clean. Toilets are very clean which is a big plus however something you would expect taking into account price and the fact that the site is a club.
Site is very exposed to wind so the other reviews are true. If i was in a tent and not a caravan and the weather had been windy i think it would have been a bit of a nightmare.
Grounds are well kept and it's nice that there are basic short walks cut out in the grass for dog owners to take their dogs out for a late night/early morning quick toilet walk with plenty of pooh bins around.
A small decent beach is nearby however you can't access the beach via the campsite. I went for a walk from the site and fell straight into a decomposing site for grass cuttings which was foul in smell and really quite deep and dangerous if a small child had to wander into it. I think there should definitely be a fence or a barrier with warning of this area.
The road outside the site can be pretty busy.
When initially driving up to the site the view of the huge cement works is off putting but once on the site you don't actually see it from the bottom of the site which is good and you can focus on the lovely view over to the bass rock.
The site controls access and departure through a coded security gait/barrier and on departure I gave my dad the code for this as he was coming to tow the caravan home for me. In the blinking of an eye staff were running panicked and shouting at my dad that he couldn't bring his car in. My dad was annoyed and upset at their rudeness and there was no apology for their unprofessional actions.
I would not visit this site again which is a real shame as i actually liked the location and the fact that the site is quiet and peaceful and that there are no play facilities for children so not many children on site at all which was ideal for me. It is a very tightly controlled campsite and a great deal of rules and regulations. I felt the staff were judgemental and maybe a little paranoid. You felt like you were being watched at all times.
I prefer a more friendly relaxed laid back campsite so if you like that atmosphere on your holiday too, don't visit this site.

We arrived at this site very late on the Friday night after an incident on the motorway with our bike carrier. While we where in services trying to fix it the site manager called to see if we were still planning to come, as obviously we were so late. He told us that was fine he would wait for us. He met us on arrival at the site and gave us basic info to see us through to the next morning.
We checked in properly the next morning at reception where we received a friendly welcome. Some basic camping foods are available such as bacon, eggs, sausages, rolls, butter, sweets and crisps. Newspapers can be pre-ordered and you can purchase a wifi token here.
We had a slight problem in that someone was using the EHU we'd paid for and ours didn't reach the next point so the site manager very kindly offered an extension for us to use free of charge.
This is a lovely site, it's HUGE but kept spotlessly clean. The toilets and showers are the cleanest I have ever seen. It's no wonder they are so clean though as they shut between 1030 and 12. 00 each day for cleaning. There is a family room that can be used during this time though. The shower was actually better than my shower at home!
There is a laundry with washing machines on site and some whirly gigs are provided for drying. There's also a spotlessly clean washing up area and chemical disposal point.
The site is situated very near to White Sands beach which is part of a coastal geology trail. Its a lovely cycle route too. Dunbar itself is also well worth a visit, especially the gorgeous harbour area which is an old fort.
There is an Asda about 2 miles away which is handy for all your food etc. There is also a smaller co-op in the centre of town.
Gorgeous friendly site and I would def consider visiting again. I enquired re a late checkout and was told I'd need to pay for an extra night, but once the site manager realised it was me who hadn't arrive till very late due to our motorway incident, he allowed me to stay till 4pm as a goodwill gesture since we'd missed most of our first evening. Very kind and hardworking warden team at this site.

Large site with great views of Bass rock. Arrived and greeted by friendly welcoming staff who directed us to our pitch.
Large spacious pitch however, drainage was extremely poor and due to the volume of rain our awning had a swamp below.
The neighbouring pitch had no problems with drainage. Our only real disappointment was the lack of a play park for our 8 year old, this facility is incorrectly advertised on this web page.
Also the closure of the toilet block 10:30 till 12:00 for cleaning is to early, yes the family room is available but this often had a queue. Be warned no direct access to the beach from park.

We used this site on our way back from Scotland as it is so close to the A1. We were given a great welcome and even helped to uncouple the caravan, despite there only being the wardens on site no assistant wardens until after Easter.
We have never seen two people work so hard especially on the Thursday before Easter.
We had a great view of the sea until the mist came down, lots of walks from the site and a lovely beach.
Dunbar town is rather drab, but North Berwick nearby is lovely, with lots of small individual shops, boat trips to Bass Rock and a quick train journey into Edinburgh. The beach at North Berwick is cleaned every day.
Toilets/ showers were first class as was the laundry and washing up facilities.

I've stayed at this site several times since September and I rate it highly.
The caretakers are extremely friendly and helpful- nothing is too much trouble.
You can more or less chose whichever pitch you want. All are spacious and most have fabulous views of Bass Rock, Fife and the sea.
The site is exposed and can be extremely windy. Awnings put up at your own risk !
New and spotless toilet block/showers. Laundry facilities and washing up areas.
Wetsuit shower and outdoor clothes lines provided.
Small shop at reception basics only.
10 minute walk to the sandy beach of Whitesands.
40 minute walk into Dunbar by road/path and about an hour and a half along the beach/golf course which follows the John Muir Way.
Fascinating geology in the area -I spend hours on the beach looking for fossils and shells.
As a solo senior camper this site is economical for me as they charge per person and a big discount for over 55's in low season.
If you want a nice site near the beach, not far from town, and fab views, I recommend this one.

Great site with stunning views from all pitches.
Was able to pick which pitch I wanted, so opted for hardstanding with EHU.
Was unable to put up my awning as had broken it on previous site visit, but would have needed rock pegs to put it up. However with the gale forces winds we had, it was just as well it wasn't put up.
Wardens really helpful and pleasant, sold basics in the reception area, which was also full of leaflets for what to do in the surrounding area.
Beach was a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk away.
Toilets and showers clean, and you were allowed ot use the family room if they were being cleaned at the time you needed to go.
Dunbar town was lovely to visit with some interesting shops on the high street.
Would go back to this site, if I was touring back in Scotland again.

We checked in late one August afternoon with our 2 man tent and dog. A couple from Belgium were in front of me and were turned away but we had no problems and got a sea view. Site is new on reclaimed land. Toilets and showers were first class as you would expect on a new site. It needs a bit of time for the landscaping to mature and I can imagine in windy conditions it could be a bit open.
We drove 1/2 mile to local beach at whitesands which was a bit scruffy possibly due to the local cement works. Its ok to walk the dog but not bucket and spade stuff. Local town was ok for a walk round. Pitches had plenty of room and there were a good few spare. If I had one complaint its that on a reclaimed site you would imagine the club would have been strict about the depth of topsoil over the rubble. Pegs need to go in at 45 deg to miss the stones below. Grass was tidy and staff helpful.

A very new site close to the amenities of Dunbar but little shelter or protection. A good view to the East of the cement works, fortunately compensated by pleasant views of the Bass rock and May island.
A one goal pitch are the only play facility for children, The staff although helpful at arrival, should do more to police dog owners who allow their dogs off the leash and to run around unsupervised.
Not a site I would recommend for children, unless some play provision and better control of the visiting dog population occurs.

must start by saying that this is not a reflection on the site staff, the most helpful staff of any club site we have stayed on. Pristine facilities.
Be aware - when the site is described as windy it means very windy - the staff were helping people take down awnings at 11.30 pm due to high winds - tents and trailer tents were taking a battering, our awning poles snapped and dented our van - shame because this is fantastic site in a beautiful area, the weather was really hot but the wind relentless.
I would only recommend this site to caravans without awnings - too windy for awnings, tents and trailor tents. Lovely beach nearby and lots of easy long walks. ~ Have to add that we stayed x2 at the old barns ness site which was so close to the new site but so much more sheltered - what a great shame to see it abandoned and empty.

We couldn't find the site we were originally headed to and ended up here as it was getting late in the day. This site is not for those who enjoy wilder camping and charges a fortune for non-members. It is very much a site for those who don't enjoy true camping. Very posh toilets for a campsite! The site is pristine to say the least.
The staff were very helpful. Lovely people!
IF you take a tent, make sure you have rock pegs as the ground is by no way ideal.
There was a lot of road noise, but most visitors were in campervans so maybe it didn't bother them as much.
Nice views of the sea if you're placed in a good location on the site. However it wasn't for us, not really our type of place.
