Decided to go here at the last minute due to the weather. Wardens were friendly on the telephone and on arrival at the site. We were able to pick our own pitch. Nice views from the site. The WC and showers were clean with plenty of hot water. Only complaint was the fact there is only one soap dispenser and hand dryer in the ladies.
Lovely walks from the site and from Dunbar. If following the John Muir way be aware that the trail is suffering from erosion so detours are necessary. We really enjoyed our visit to the John Muir nature reserve. We don't have children but the nearby fort with animals and train looked very busy so may be worth a trip. We had a nice Chinese take away from the something Palace in Dunbar, sorry forgot the complete name. We really enjoyed our short stay here and will go back.

Our first visit to this site having been regulars at the 'Barns Ness' site now closed. Although not as homely or as well established (yet). The site is lovely. Pitches are generous in size and have lovely sea views.
The toilets are spotless but there could do with being more of them as there is only one block to cover the entire site. If pitching on the upper level (RHS as you enter the site) you will have a bit of a trek for water and emptying the chemical toilet.
No children's play park, but it is not really needed as you are 5 min walk from whitesands beach.
The staff, as normal with club sites were very friendly and helpful.
Over all expensive but in my opinion well worth it. We will defineatly visit again.

A real treat - if you want panoramic views this is the place, if you want top class shower facilities, its perfect and if you like great customer service then book this site.
We stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer, the weather was awful but that didn't spoil the stay because the site was first class.
We enjoyed the views, visited the local beach for the dog walk which was perfect, there is a golf course near by. It was a 5 minute drive into dunbar which is a beautiful fishing village, plenty of shops, site seeing, the harbour and castle remains all in all a perfect location and a perfect site.
We did not have children with us so unable to comment however the children who were there seemed to have fun.

Spent 3 nights on this excellent site. Friendly site staff. Newspapers and fresh bread available daily. Super new facilities. Very clean with plentiful hot water.
Great views to Dunbar and Bass Rock. In Dunbar watch fishermen return to harbour with their catch and feed seals. Excellent Leisure Centre in town plus plenty of shops, cafes etc. We used the Coast Cafe [next to railway station]. A short walk from the high street but well worth it. It has free wi-fi too. Good atmosphere and beers in the Volunteer Arms.

This is a lovely new site with loads of space and brand new facilities with ample toilets and showers and that is why it costs more so you have to be happy to pay £30/night or so. Personally, I am all for paying and enjoying space and stunning views but I can understand other people's disappointment at the price; we saw a family turn round at 6 pm having been quoted £40/night, so check your costs first.
Staff friendly and helpful. Site is a 10 minute road walk to a lovely beach but you can drive it in 2 minutes and park up there. Unfortunately you can't access beach infront of site due to a golf course. There is a lovely walk to Dunbar (45 mins) where you can see seals swimming in the harbour if you are lucky, which is just as well as there isn't much else going on there! Food shops are very good though and it is a pretty place.
Great site for a short stay but beware of the winds if you pitch on top row.

There is no denying the beauty of the location or views, the beach at Whitesands is awesome. Dunbar is as nice a town as you will find, look out for Lauderdale park . The site, being new, has a clean toilet block, the family shower room was ideal [I wish all sites had this!] just as well because the showers in the main toilets were far too hot and weren't adjustable. There was no way my two kids would have been able to use them, I couldn't stand directly under them. Being non members it was more expensive than usual and did lack a play area for small kids. The toilet block was always busy with queues for a shower and was a bit noisy on our first night there, it's clearly not big enough for the size of the site. The staff, however, were first class and the warden even helped turn our caravan around to get full advantage of the views .

We stayed at Dunbar in July 2009. The site was very well maintained and clean, and the toilet block pristine. We were offered the upper level to pitch out tent, which was great because we had most of that area to ourselves. The downside was the wind, although the site manager did advise us it would be windy, and if we wanted we could move. We opted to stay put. The site is also near the sea, and there is the constant roaring of waves, which we got used to.
However, pitching on the upper level gave us the most fantastic views over the bay to Dunbar, and the Bass Rock. I did notice trees had been planted, so perhaps in a few years, this view may not be available.
There was no play area, but at the top was a football field and goals, which went down great with our boys. The shop sold fresh bread from a local baker every day.
Dunbar had a great swimming pool, and that summer kids were getting in free to the pool. North Berwick is also easy to reach, we enjoyed Preston Mill, and the beaches in the area.
I'd thoroughly recommend Dunbar, we had a great time there.

Nice location. Facilities are nice though might be stretched if the site is full.
Usual issue of narrow C&CC hardstandings and unmade site roads. However the views more than make up for this. Fife can be seen on a clear day if you look hard enough.
Will certainly visit again.

We stayed at this site at the begining of June, this was our first stay on this new site.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the shower block was spotless with plenty of hot water as you would expect as it's all new. Although the site was quiet when we went, I can imagine it could get busy at peak times.
The pitches were plenty big enough for our large 6man tent including space for your car too, the shop was well stocked if not a little expensive, but there is an Asda just a 5 minutes drive away.
Views here are stunning and the site is designed well enough that you should have a sea view from pretty much anwhere you pitch, there is a great beach a short walk away, or a drive if you're feeling lazy and at low tide there's plenty of rock pools that our kids loved! there is also a large playing field with a goal, no swingpark which is a shame.
One word of warning though, this site is very exposed and the winds can get quite strong, that coupled with the hard ground it's on means you should bring some decent pegs with you along with a windbreak!
It is quite expensive here but we thought it was value for money.

A new site (2008) with very clean facilities, lovely bright flowerpots and friendly welcoming wardens. A shop stocking various goods and papers. Good sized pitches with nice views. No serviced pitches.
Dunbar and the shops 10 min by car and a lovely beach is only a 15 min walk from site.
Down side: Disappointed kids as no swing park. Site busy and had to queue for showers only 1 toilet block for over 100 pitches. Some drivers don't know what 5mph is and going round too fast.
Very Pricey. Not much change out of £30 a night for a family. It may be the friendly club but certainly not a budget friendly campsite so check prices before you go.
