Beautiful little site and perfect location. Plenty of pitch space lots of electric hook up points and water taps. The toilet and showers were immaculate. One shower and two loos for ladies and one shower and toilet combined for gents but this will be improved for the gents. It was not a problem for the men who were on our trip as all who used the facilities were aware that others were waiting so were quick with their ablutions. The couple who run the farm were very welcoming and very friendly and let you get on with pitching and settling in and you got the feeling they were there if you needed anything. My friend who had taken his caravan found out his heating fuse had blown and the gentleman very kindly gave him a replacement so he was warm and snug on his two night stay. I can see this couple will make a real go of this site and it will become a very popular site if the standards they have set continue. We will definitely be back. There are chickens on the site which are a delight to see running around free and so well cared for. The fresh eggs on sale at the farm gate are divine and at £1 a box of six a real bargin. Please try them for breakfast. The surrounding area is chocolate box beautiful. Be warned you will fall in love with this beautiful little village and the people who are helpful in every way. The bakers bread is fresh and tasty the butchers is first rate and little Delicatessen serves some real treats. The fish and chip shop was very good as was the pizza shop. The two pubs the buck inn and the new inn both sold good beer but we didn't sample the food. There is a car museum worth a look but don't expect to get close to the cars as they are all up for auction. Fabulous walks to be had around thorton le dale so take time to get some pictures of this beautiful village. Pickering is just two miles away and Malton is 8 miles both also worth a look. Basically this is a holiday you won't forget and you will definitely be back. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you prospect farm for a wonderful 4 days.

Fabulous intimate campsite close to the town of Thornton le Dale. Owners are very friendly and very helpful. Best campsite we have used with very good facilities including: powerful and clean showers, well maintained toilets (except only 1 mens loo which we are assured will be improved), 2 washup sinks, well spaced pitches (altho' could be more level), fresh water nearby, electric hookup (if reqd), information lodge, close proximity to pubs and takeaways. We tried the New Inn and had a fabulous Steak for 2 plus wine for £30, plus the local Fish and Chips which were superb. Car museum at bottom of road is well worth a visit, infact you don't have to go far to keep yourself entertained for many days. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

An impulsive moment lead me to do a quick search for a campsite in Nth Yorkshire for a quiet weekend break for my husband and I. This lead us to Thornton le Dale. Found the campsite quite easy despite the road markings, tucked away in the heart of the village which was just what we wanted. Greeted by the owner who we found to be most helpful and friendly as was her husband. The site is extremely pretty, clean and tidy. The 2 ladies toilets were spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate, as was the men's which I mistakenly used on arrival ! The shower was hot and powerful. I did find drying after a shower a bit of a chore as I am of larger build and not a lot of room. The field for tents does slope although there are a couple of pitches that the slopping isn't as prominent which we have earmarked for next time. Dogs are welcome not that we have any but plan to in the future. There are 2 pubs in the village serving excellent ales and food. We ate at the Buck but plan on trying the other pub (Whose name I have forgotten)on our next visit. Also a small grocery shop, butchers, cake shop. Lots of lovely walks around the village itself, details can be obtained from the owner. We did lots of sightseeing as the location made a great base. To summarize; a real gem, look forward to returning.

We visit here at least once a year as its a favourite of ours but as there have been some changes I thought I'd do another review.
The new owners seem very pleasant and they have already made some improvements to the site by finishing the new toilet and shower block off and adding some homely finishing touches. They have also added a second pot wash sink.
They have added a reception lodge with details about the site and local info along with seating and wifi.
They have closed off the previous route to the loos down the side of the bungalow and opened a new one towards the top of the field to afford them privacy in their home, which I totally understand. It just means a longer and more frantic run to the loo on a morning from my favourite pitch, but I guess you can't have everything!
It's still a lovely small quiet site and my favourite north Yorkshire site - I will be back with my brothers kids in June.

We visited Prospect Farm over the bank holiday weekend and what a delightful site! We were warmly welcomed by the owner and made to feel more than at home. The pitch was a great size and the facilities were clean and in great condition. Our little girl loved the chickens, hens, ducks and the horse on site, she was over the moon with the egg the owner and her husband kindly gave her. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again very soon. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

We were looking for a year round site, in order to give our motorhome a 'run out' in the February 1/2 term; it needed to be easily accessible, with a range of things to do within easy reach regardless of the weather.
Prospect Farm is a very well situated site, just yards away from the main road. It's facilities are well maintained and presented and our hostess was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay; they have only just taken over, so further development and improvements are apparently planned.
The village of Thornton Le Dale itself is beautiful, with 2 good pubs, some nice shops and a well maintained playground all within 5 minutes walk. If you want to go further afield the regular buses from the centre of the village will get you to Scarborough or Whitby, or inland to Pickering, Eden Camp or beyond.
Be aware however that this is not a big site, so if you need acres of land, stunning views and showers every 100 yards (or drive a Winnebago) this is probably not for you; but if you want a cosy and private site on which to base yourselves, Prospect Farm is perfect.

New owners who were very friendly and helpful. They had been touring caravan owners for many years and fell in love with this small holding so were given first refusal if ever this came up for sale. Having read previous reviews it seems they have made some improvements to the toilet facilities bearing in mind this is a ccc certified site which often are without any facilities. If you are dog owners this is the place to be. A dog walk which opens out into a large wood is ideal and Thornton le dale is picture perfect with two pubs both dog friendly and good food (ate in both) we will be returning to this site as it has everything we require and more

Ideal small caravan site with two toilet and shower areas and washing up sink. Electric etc. Short walk to shops, pubs (good food) lovely country side and much more in this lovely area. Can be tight for large outfits, pitches are small, so recommend mentioning to owner if you have large caravan to ascertain how many vans are on site as we struggled and were the only touring visitors. Separate area for tents. Owner also provides facilities for cyclists including pressure washer and cycle hire. Very welcoming and helpful.

We stayed at camp site for 6 nights 3 adults
The field is small but quite flat it only holds 10 tents so nice and cosy
Toilet blocks are clean and showers very good loads of hot water and toilet paper replaced every day
Thornton le dale is a fab place load to see plenty of places to eat and drink
The site is a great base to see the Yorkshire moors Helmsley robin hoods bay Whitby and the rest of the coast
Bus from the village to most places if you don't want to take the car
The owners dad is a very pleasant man
Only one thing not too pleased about the geese can get a little bit noisy at times, but we lived with it and came to enjoy the sounds after a while.

we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful Paul on arrival, who made us welcome immediately and showed us all the facilities.
The toilets and showers etc etc where spotless. The campsite itself is situated in a lovely area, with shops 2 minutes away and 3 great pubs, which serve fantastic food. I can honestly think of anything to complain about and we all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be staying there again
