We stayed here just after the Caravan Club National Rally this year and were extremely impressed. We usually stay at Abbey Wood CP but as it was booked up due to some black tie 'do' with the Caravan Club in London, we had to search around and found this site. It was very convenient for London, as the bus stops right outside the campsite. That walk back from the station @ Abbey Wood can be a killer after pounding the pavements of London - in Lee Valley, it wasn't a problem as the station was just across the road from the bus depot. The facilities were top quality - in fact, I thought they were better than the Caravan Club site. The only drawback was the temperature in the showers was HOT!. Security was excellent too; you certainly didn't feel you were so close to the capital. The surrounding location wasn't built up either. The nearby retail park is almost a ghost place, although the cinema is still in service and came in handy for my 2 when they were 'bored' (as if anyone could be bored so close to London!) The play area was small but as my 2 were teens, we didn't notice this much. The wardens were very friendly and informative about London; even down to assisting me when my teen went missing in Oxford Street and we had to make our way back without her (they did a good job of telling her off when she sauntered back some 3 hours later too!). I would definitely recommend this site.

Just back from this site, would go again. Friendly, helpful staff, clean site, spacious pitches, hot showers, barbeque area, shop, laundry, park, and right next door to an 18 hole golf course. The only downside is that the shop does not sell, papers, cigs, or dog food, although it is a dog friendly site.

July 2005 We found the site to be an ideal location to explore London. The Site staff were extreamly helpful. The shower blocks were clean and warm. There is also a small laundry available. The small shop come reception had all the basics. Considering we were in the capitol we found the site to be very peaceful. The lesure complex to the front although only half of it operates now, was handy with 3 eateries and cinima. IF you want to camp site for london, this is it, I will return one day. The only thing you need to be cautious of is that the public transport seems to stop at 12.30, so you need to leave central london by 11pm to ensure you can get back to the site.

July 2005 Visited this campsite during an impromptu weekend trip to London. I can thoroughly recommend it. Price for a small tent, car and 1 person was ~£7 a night. The site was quiet while I stayed, but if you're looking for perfect tranquility it's probably best to start your search outside the M25! Facilities are excellent, in particular the hot (and free) showers are a real luxury.
Getting to Central London takes around 25mins if you're lucky with train connections, up to an hour if you're not. A bus runs every 10 minutes from outside the site to Edmonton Green Station. From there a train will take you to Seven Sisters where you change to the Victoria line tube to get to King's Cross and beyond...
This trip was a flying visit but next time i'll be tempted to bring my bike to explore the parkland around the site. There will definitely be a next time...

July 2005 The park is well situated so you can explore london. We thought the park was well laid out, with clean warm facilities, their showers were great in the morning to wake you up. There is a bus service outside the camp which takes you to Edmonton Green, from there you can continue your journey into the city by bus or train. The camp shop had the basics, and also the best place to buy a travel card. Tesco's, Sainbury's, and morrison's all with in five mins from gate for food shopping. 12 screen cinema and golf part of complex, as were two restuarants. We thought it was quite peaceful considering we were in London. The staff are great, and really helpful with advice and pratical help if needed. I will certainly be using this site agian, soon. Highly Recommended

June 2005 Excellent site. Reasonably priced (particularly considering proximity to London), and (when I was there) very peaceful. Friendly staff, clean facilities, good public transport links (W8 bus from the leisure centre to Edmonton Green, frequent trains to London). A zones 1-4 Travelcard (£5.20 off-peak) covers you if you take this route, because although the site is in zone 6, your rail travel ends in zone 4 and the buses are no longer zoned - thanks Ken!
The Deep Pan Pizza has sadly closed down, leaving the cinema and uninspiring bar as the only close facilities. However, there are lots of pubs, shops and restaurants in Edmonton. Apparently the leisure centre is being developed for something to do with the Olympic bid, so there's going to be quite a lot of noise and commotion for some time to come.
All in all, a very satisfactory option for visits to central London.

September 2003 A wonderful place. A haven within the chaos that is multitudinous lives of London. The people who run the site are forthrite and true. The site is beautiful. There's a great play area. I would not hesitate to recommend the site and I can't wait to be there again.

October 2004 We stayed at this very conveniently placed site for a couple of days and were very impressed by the helpful and friendly staff. Although the site was pretty full there was still plenty of room and no noise to speak of. Toilet blocks are old and not exactly plentiful but with plenty of staff on hand there is regular cleaning and maintainence. We will certainly return and sooner rather than later. The highlight of the trip was when a London Transport worker whom we had asked for directions gave us a lift back to the site from Tottenham Hale.

September 2004 Yes it is certainly handy for London and there is a night bus that travels from Liverpool Street Station so no worries if you have a late night. Only one bus travels between the train station (Edmunton Green) and the site but this was every 10 minutes until just after midnight and if you missed the last but it's only around £4.00 in a cab. The added bonus of having a 12 screen cinema on the proverbial doorstep proved too tempting when they are giving such valuable discounts on tickets. An evening spent with Vin Diesel was worth 'staying home' for and with around half of patrons viewing alone I didn't feel out of place.
The campsite was more than adequate for facilities. The toilets and shower block were kept fairly clean save the odd bit of grass which no one can really complain about on a campsite. There were no nasty smells even around the bin areas and the grass was trimmed most mornings. The shop was fairly well stocked with basic provisions and basic camping items, however I really missed my daily newspaper with my morning coffee.
I cannot praise the site staff enough, they always seemed to go out of their way to be helpful and polite. It also has to be said that I found the site wonderfully quiet and peaceful with very pleasant neighbours next to me. Generally the site made for very pleasant surroundings. I stayed for a full week and would have extended my stay had the weather not taken a turn for the worse and had I not suffered moderate tent pole breakage.
For those like myself who absolutely must check their emails evey other day at least there is a wonderful internet cafe just around the corner from Edmunton Green Station who charge a very reasonable 50p for 30 minutes.
I have no concerns about this site dispite what others may say, I for one am happy to make a return visit.

Aug 03 This site has a good location for access to central London. It is well served by a bus service from the leisure complex adjacent to the site to Edmonton Green where there is a main line station or to Tottenham Hale where there is a tube station. There is another main line station about 1.5 miles north of the site at Ponders End, but there is no bus service from the site to this station. The leisure complex has a multi-screen cinema, and a couple of chain restaurants, Pizza and Mexican something or other. There are no pubs nearby.
Its’ location means that the site is used by many visitors to Central London, from many parts of the world, and a high proportion of tenters. This means that many of the usual campsite conventions are ignored – with the result that loud music playing, people wandering through your pitch, cars being driven around the site far too fast, people returning late at night shouting and singing etc. The management appeared to take no steps to curtail it. The site can be very noisy until late at night. We were kept awake until well after midnight on one night by a large group of people including young children and some of the site staff who were gathered outside a static mobile home adjacent to reception. Children are allowed to use the entire site as a playing field and while we were there we were disturbed several times by balls bouncing off our motorhome.
The shower block is quite new and well appointed, but no mops or cloths were provided for the campers’ use and consequently they become messy very quickly. We were parked quite close to the shower blocks and had to endure the incessant slam of a door which could have been simply remedied by a closing-damper. There is a good and easily accessible motorhome service point adjacent to the fenced-off refuse collection point (into which we watched a staff member throw a box of rubbish without even attempting to put it into one of the bins).
The site is situated at the Southern end of the Lea Valley in a predominantly industrial area. It is adjacent on three sides to a public golf course from which unhindered access to the site is possible via a low fence on two sides or through the many gaps in the higher perimeter fence on the other side. Security could therefore be an issue.
The Lea Valley navigation with its’ well maintained towpath is close-by and a walk/cycle up to the nicer parts of the valley starting at Waltham Abbey a couple of miles upstream is quite feasible. Unfortunately the route to the towpath from the site takes you through an area of absolute squalor, with huge heaps of refuse dumped by the roadside which, in combination with the nearby sewage treatment works, creates an appalling smell.
In summary the site is handy for London and has all the facilities one requires. If the management were to implement some measures to counter the problems I have mentioned it would be a lot better. If you want any degree of peace and quiet forget it. There are other sites further up the Lea Valley if you want to explore there, and for Central London the excellent Caravan Club sites at Abbey Wood and Crystal Palace are better served by public transport.
