This was our first visit to Peppermint Park. On arrival we found the reception staff very pleasant and helpful. We have a large tent but still found our pitch size very generous.
Toilet and washing facilities were excellent and well maintained throughout our visit.
Drainage on the grass areas was a bit of a problem but the grounds men were always willing to help with supplying bark chippings to fill in the puddles where the tents were pitched.
Entertainment was first class for a small site and would shame some Haven sites we have visited - well done!
Kids play ground is adequate but some of the apparatus was broken.
Would recommend this site to any one and the carvery in the club house is a must.

We have been to Darlish before, but not Peppermint Park, and we chose this site for its vicinity to the sea. At £18 pound a night the price is steep, but I suppose you pay for the facilities that keep the kids from under your feet all day. We didn't see the pool, or go to the club house for the talent contest so I really can’t comment on them. The facilities were clean and were constantly being cleaned, and the showers were really powerful, I can’t fault that! Now for the state of the pitch, disgusting! The grass was long; it was strewn with coat hangers, used tea bags, and dirty cigarette ends. The whole area also smelt of urine. We stayed one night and moved on at day light cutting our losses. Not my type of site, too bucket and spade.

After my first review of this site unfortunately this one isn't so favourable. The site hasn't changed a deal in the last ten years, other than the fact it is being taken over by Static Caravans and the dog exercise area has gone, which at £6 a night and no facilities for your poor pooch is scandalous. The site club seems to be in a time warp, frozen in the 80's and none of the site facilities have been improved upon. I still love the area but unfortunately the site is loosing it's appeal to me. Many of the pitches were water-logged and wouldn't drain leaving muddy patches where tents etc had been (see photo on my profile)

We have just returned from a weeks camping at Peppermint Park and wanted to give an honest review as I believe people are quick to criticise but not to compliment! On arrival at the Park we were greeted warmly. Our pitch was a good size and located close to the facilities. The only downfall to the pitch was that due to the heavy rainfall of the previous few weeks it was muddy and quite slippery underfoot for the children but this soon dried out. There was also a lingering smell (a bit like sewerage) coming from the ground but again this could not be helped as this was only due to the bad weather. And when we mentioned this to the park warden they were very quick to provide wood chipping to help to soak up the muddy water. The toilets and shower blocks were excellent, clean and there was plenty of hot water. I was also very surprised that we never had to queue once for a shower even during the morning rush as there were plenty of cubicles. The site shop was well stocked and fairly reasonable although we did eat at the shop takeaway one evening which I do not recommend - not the greatest burger and chips we have eaten! The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The site children's park was also excellent and kept my 2 children happy for numerous hours! The staff were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was the walk to the beach which I am afraid to say is quite a bit more than the 680 metres from the site as advertised. Also the beach is not a golden sand beach also as advertised but is shingle. We recommend the journey to Exmouth beach which is golden sand and the water is crystal clear. The local area is also handy for shops and entertaining the children on a short term basis. There is also a lovely bakery next to the site which was really reasonable. Would we return to Peppermint Park again - most definitely and we would also recommend the site and the area of Dawlish Warren to our friends and family.

We picked this site as we often stayed in Exmouth and I thought Dawlish would be nice for a change. We were unfortunate with the weather as it rained for such a long time we had to switch our entrance around our ground sheet has been stained by the red mud. In general I would call the site average, the bar in the club house was almost visible through he haze of cigarette smoke which meant that we would not use it as we have young children, the club house in general including kids club seemed a little too hi-de-hi for my liking although if you enjoy that sort of thing then it is for you. The toilet block left a lot to be desired the cleaning stopped at basin level you can clearly see cob webs in the corners of the ceiling and it generally felt like it needed up dating. It's proximity to the town was a big plus and was a base for us to explore this side of Devon however it is on the same road as Lady Mile which looked at least from the outside to be the better location and better kept camp site, I am afraid I shall not soon be returning.

Just have to say thought pitch sizes were on small side, toilet -shower block nice and clean, but to go in casual camping field you would need to be a mountain goat

A very nice site if a little expensive. We have visited the site on and off for the last 8 years and enjoyed every time we have been. The Clubroom and Pool are nothing to shout about but satisfactory and safe for kids. Having 16 teenage and young adults in our party (21 of us in total) we find the local area keeps them occupied without us having to drive them around everywhere.

Excellent Park. Showers were hot any time of day and very clean. Very well maintained site. Had a problem with the electric hook up when we first arrived but staff were very helpful and cheerful and soon sorted it out for us. Club House seemed a bit scruffy and the toilets weren't that good but overall this was a very good campsite, I will definitely go back there again.

Expected it to be busy but you could not park your car next to your tent but on a small road thus leading to double parking. The playground was at the top of a hill so steep that even the grown ups struggled to get up/down. However, great for tiring the children out! Playground itself was ok. Toilets/Showers need updating and even though site was very busy there was plenty of hot water. Swimming pool was good 15 minutes walk with the children and was average. Reception, you needed a bike to get to it and the beach is not 680 metres from the site. We didnt use the beach at Dawlish as found Exmouth to be better but if you dont want to drive the twenty minutes etc then it would take you about 30-40 mins to walk. Pitches were marked and you were shown and told to park in between the white lines??? What lines and how come large caravans complete with extensive awnings etc seemed to take precidence. We could see into next door very clearly and thought this must be against fire regs. Would we go again--NO.

Stayed here in August 2006 with OH and two girls aged 6 and 4. Whilst you expect everywhere to be busy during the holidays, I think we had the better pitch. The pitches are very very close together and no room to park your car except on the minute road that therefore led to double parking, so you were stuck if another car tried to get past. The playground whilst central to the site was at the top of a very steep hill and felt that this was some what dangerous as little ones kept on falling down all the time, even when walking. Having said that it did exhaust them out. We generally felt very packed in and I was sure this was against fire regs. Toilets / showers were ok with hot water.Didn't have to queue but did get up early to get a shower most mornings. Shop very very basic indeed. The beach is not 680 metres and takes good 20 minutes walk. Nice little bakers on the main road stocked with fresh bread etc. We only used site for base but each night we returned it felt more like a game of sardines. The caravans seemed to get the bigger pitches and the one opposite us had HUGE caravan with awning, three tables 4 windbreaks and a BBQ Jamie Oliver would be proud of. It made us giggle because each morning she would get her hoover out and begin hoovering! The staff were pleasant and did show you the the pitch but then had the nerve to ask you to pitch between the lines of which there weren't any. Would we go back No thank you.
