Having read all the bad reviews I was very concerned about the bronze accommodation which we booked so I phone the campsite who were very helpful (Lucy) who offered us an upgrade to Goldplus Caravan for just £45 for Mon-Fri which we thought was very reasonable which we accepted. Upon arrival we found our caravan very clean & comfortable. My Grandaughter loved the swimming pool & although the first time we couldn't get in we didn't have to wait long and had an apology from the staff. All the staff were very polite & asked several times if everything was ok. We had a very enjoyable stay. We found Dawlish & Dawlish Warren very enjoyable & would definitely come again. We had a very enjoyable week!

Spent 6 nights here in our Folding Camper.

Not sure where this site is going. A combination of two sites (Peppermint Park and Golden Sands). It is a huge site which seems to be going towards a Chalet/Mobile Home/Luxury Lodges and leaving the tourer side. I would guess there are about 30 Hard Standing Pitches. The EHU is to each pitch but it is a 32A plug which is a larger plug. They ask for a £20 deposit for a jump lead to be paid in cash on arrival(no mention when booking).

The hot water in the dish washing area/toilets and showers was dangerously hot! We did mention it but there was no obvious change during the week. The toilet had a broken window that had been badly boarded and a toilet seat missing (all week). The toilets were cleaned daily but still seemed dated and grubby.

There is a good play area for the children but it is on the top of a hill with no easy access to it. The entrance gate was broken and appeared to have been like this for a while.

The camping fields are at the lower end of the site and are two sloping fields with no proper roads on and it would be difficult to say they were fit for purpose due to the slopes. Apparently the site is in discussions with the local council due to opening restrictions for the fields.

There is a launderette on site.

At Dawlish warren end of the site you are close to the railway and about a ten minute walk to the beach.

There is a shop on site and a Sainsbury's close by if a bigger shop is needed.

We did not go to the entertainment room during our stop.

The staff were very good and attentive.

Would we go again - I doubt it.

If anyone wants to stay in a static on this or any other park holiday site my advice is try somewhere else we have just come back from golden sands after almost a week should've been 7 nights but couldn't stand another night the static we were allocated was horrible scruffy and in need of a good clean if you walked around the floor screeched and moved under foot same with the furniture sit down they screech move they screech the beds the doors anything you sat laid or stood on made noise so sleeping was impossible for all of us. Heating appeared to be an optional extra as enquiries at reception revealed that heating is only applicable to gold units and we had a bronze plus the way the receptionist told us came across as You Are In a CHEAP ONE dream on snigger snigger on top of which the heated pool was broken all week so was the alternative at Dawlish sands the none Front of house staff were really helpful but the female receptionists want retraining as soon as possible Dawlish was lovely as was every where else would never return to golden sands

This camp site was in a perfect location for both Dawlish and Teignmouth which is great for fishing. We were disappointed when we arrived, not a very appealing entrance. After booking in and driving to the camping pitches we passed an assortment of 2 story chalet apartments which all looked a bit tired, bumpy uneven roads, nothing seemed to flow properly it all looked a bit messy. I got the impression that they weren't really interested in pursuing catering for touring vans and campers as the toilet and shower facilities were dated in a poor state and not very clean. I didn't like the look of the dish washing area so used my own in the caravan. We had to hire an adapter for the hook up for a deposit of 20 The hard standing pitches were far from level. I had a quick look at the club room which looked dated and the outdoor pool looked ok with a room to sit but the indoor pool was very small, fine if you have a young family but as I don't anymore this didn't really hold any interest. The reception area was chaotic as people just left their cars parked outside with no thought to anyone else trying to negotiate entering or leaving site, not easy if your towing or for large delivery lorries. There were marked parking bays but they need some notices displayed stopping people from parking outside of them. After speaking to other campers we were told that two parks had merged and the whole site was being developed for static caravans and there were lots of advertising boards around the site for the sale of them. My overall view of this site was great location friendly helpful staff but apart from that we didn't like it as it looked shabby. There are other sites in the area with similar tariffs that would knock spots off of this one. However I'm sure that once the site has finished being redeveloped it will improve We won't be returning.

You get what you pay for, the site was OK it was relatively cheap, they were flexible on the number of nights we wanted to stay and yes it is a site in need of some renovation, we had a hard standing pitch with its own water tap, close to the washing facilities that were dated but clean and unlike other sites you didn't have to avoid any rush hours as their were none despite being a school holiday week, freesat reception was fine. As previously stated you have to use an adapter for you EHU supplied FOC subject to a £20. 00 deposit.

I looked at Trip Advisor prior to going to this site and can see what some people might be concerned about when renting one of the older static caravans as for the touring side of things no complaints. We even survived the storm St Jude(felt more like hurricane St. Jude). We took a 6 year old who had a great time enjoying the activities and early evening shows. We used the Dawlish Sands indoor pool as it was larger and just a short drive from our site. Locally there is a Sainsburys on your door step, trains from Dawlish Warren to Exeter one way and Torbay and beyond in the other direction. Definitely one for those with smaller children.

Only about 8 pitches on the field with EHU. At the top of the hill. Hard ground so we bent a few decent tent pegs. Toilet block and particularly dishwashing area leave some thing to be desired.

The pictures on the web page of the camping field are old and it is no longer like that. There is another two fields but these are only open when council allow. I've been told planning permission is in progress to change this.

On arrival we were given a choice of 2 camping fields, both were on steep hills. The one with the steeper hill had wonderful sea views but we chose the other one. We managed to find a flatish pitch. Pitches are not marked out making it ideal if you have one of the larger tents but then as in our case 2 tents were pitched really close to us ignoring the 20 feet away rule. There were no taps on the field, you had to go down to toilet/showers for water. When I booked, not with the site but with the actual company I did ask for an electric pitch but they were fully booked but they assured me there was facilities in toilet block to use my own hairdryer and straighteners, this wasn't the case which was a bit annoying and I felt they would just tell you anything to get you to book. The showers were hot and clean although I did feel the whole toilets and shower block could have done with updating. Also there was only 5 showers to accommodate 2 very large fields. The distance from reception/clubhouse/swimming pool to the camping field was half a mile up and down steep hills so we didn't use the facilities. A lot of families camping used their car to get to the facilities.

On one of the evenings a large screen was erected in the children's play area in next field to us and a family film was shown and there was also a bar-b-que. It was a lovely evening and everyone enjoyed it.

There was another entrance to campsite 5 minute walk from our pitch and when you get onto main road it's less than 10 mins walk to a lovely beach at Dawlish Warren. Plenty of green space, 2 car parks, shops, amusements, doggems, go-karts, crazy golf etc. Train to Dawlish £2. 10 return. Instead of turning left to beach walk right up a hill and you'll come to Lee's Pub which does a beautiful carvery for just £5. Lots of take-aways near to Warren Rd entrance and just up from main entrance is a Sainsbury's.

We found the staff very helpful, kind and friendly.

This is an ideal campsite for families with young children.

Please note that Golden Sands has been merged with the site previously known as Peppermint Park. They are now one single large site, which will continue to be called Golden Sands.

We booked onto this site last week while touring in our motorhome in Devon. We just turned up at the gate and were greeted with a very warm reception. We booked in for one night but ended up staying for three. The site is within walking distance of Dawlish Warren where you can get a train to Torquay for £5 return for adults. (The site is very big and it's quite a walk from one end of the site to the other but this wasn't a problem for us!)

There are lots of amenities on site and would be ideal for people with children. We went to the club every night and although it isn't really our thing, it made a nice change. The entertainment staff were very good and made the effort to speak to people who were staying on the site.

But the best thing about this site was the price - only £7 per night for a hardstanding pitch with electric and water! This has got to be the cheapest site we've stayed on and for that price we couldn't really complain! We will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Horrendous! The pitches have no drainage at all so when it rained we were literally pitched up in our own private swimming pool. We were pitched at the top of the site near some wild over grown hedges. As we have a large tent we had to squeeze it on the pitch which is fair enough but we had to pitch on brambles and thistles.

We have camped here before so was very disappointed to find how much it has gone downhill.

If they worked as hard to maintain there pitches and looking after campers as they do on caravan sales this would be a great site. As it is now I would not recommend anyone to stay here. :o(
