Had a visit here to co-inside with a trip to Legoland, which is about 40 mins away. When we went was v. Quiet - there was only 2 tents in the field. The play area is lovely for the kids and also a big field to play football in.
The showers were lovely and clean as were the toilets, we paid the 50p for the power showers which were on timer but you had plenty long enough.
Good facilities for washing & drying clothes & also for washing your pots - always clean.
Would stay there again - was lovely.

Stayed at the campsite with family group to allow visit to Legoland worth noting the 12 miles to Legoland is through Slough, so takes 45-50 mins at least.
Beware security barrier goes down at 7:30pm, with no access after, can use the temporary area but certainly not ideal. Big disappointment as this limited visited to Legoland and restricted time over supper.
Other than that facilities including toilet block and play area good

Just returned from campsite - only complaint was cr*p weather, which we cannot blame site-owners for! (previous reviews on this site complain about dog-mess and a single parent with 13 kids -I don't see that site-owners 1) can chase around after other peoples dogs, and 2) should offer parental advise to single mums - previous reviewers - get real). Local village good with 2 decent pubs and very good, and helpful butchers (recommended). Staff friendly, campsite site tidy and clean, showers lovely, especially the 'posh' 50 pence ones! Would re-visit campsite when weather improves, which in UK could be long wait.

Our family of 4 (kids aged 6 and 2) have just come back from a weeks camping at Highclere, and it was a great holiday. I agree with other reviewers over the good and not so good (don't think there are actually any bad) points.
The site:
On the plus side, there are 2 spacious fields for tents with electric hook up on many of the pitches. One field had goal posts for the kids to play football. There is also a really good playground which both my son and my daughter enjoyed. As long as the children stay in the play area or the field with the goalposts they are perfectly safe as you can see them from wherever you pitch your tent. There are clean showers and toilets, which cost 20p for about 5 minutes, and also some larger showers for 50p in the converted stable area which are better if you are trying to have a shower with a child. The main shower / toilet block closes at about 9.15am for cleaning, which is a strange time to close, but with the extra showers and toilets in the stables, this isn't a big problem.
We also found there were plenty of information leaflets in the shower block which was very useful. We bought fresh eggs most mornings from the shop to have with our cooked breakfast, (the kids loved the idea of being able to see the chickens running around the area by the shop, who had laid their breakfast).
On the downside, a couple of times the shower temperature and water pressure went haywire. A couple of days, I spent most of my shower time trying to get the temperature right, as it was either freezing or scorching hot and my toddler was crying etc. And then my money ran out! (thanks to the kind lady who gave me another 20p to finish our shower).
The other negative for me were the laundry facilities which I thought were quite expensive at £2.60 per wash (the washing machine was clogged with powder and didn't wash our clothes) and the dryer was £2.50 a go. The laundry facilities were very often being used, with what seemed to be residents using them doing their weekly washing/ironing. (There are a number of people who appear to actually live on the site in caravans/ campervans, which surprised us a little.
Local Interest:
The site is only a 35 minute train ride to Baker Street London, which was very reasonably priced and was a huge plus point. Also about 45 minutes drive from Legoland, depending on traffic, which we did for 2 days which again was one of the main reasons for choosing the site. Also within 30 minute drive is the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, which was great for a rainy day, and both kids really enjoyed it, especially the story teller. I can also recommend Marlow on the way to Henley, which is a lovely town/village with some good shops and a great playground for the kids.
Overall, we have enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others, and will also be returning ourselves next year.

We stayed at Highclere for 3 nights. We arrived on a Thursday and were allocated a space in the 'Meadow' which had no restrictions on access, unlike the main site which has a barrier. This was fine for us as we wanted to come and go at will, but not ideal for security.
The toilet and shower block was okay; 20p buys a long shower. My wife also fell foul of the cleaners at 9:30 am (see earlier review). When she asked why they were cleaning at that time, the lady replied 'I thought everyone would have gone to work by now'. This endorses our observation that many of the site's weekday occupants are (itinerant) workers. I spoke to one lady in the laundry who said she and her husband had been there for 4 years, going home at weekends.
The location of the site is good, with a couple of pubs within walking distance and pleasant footpaths close by.

Visited with 2 kids-11 yrs and 5 yrs.
As with all sites it has good and bad points:
Good points: clean toilets; hot showers; shop/reception; playground; football goalposts in centre of field; lots of other family campers; handy for london; owners leave you alone; not too many petty rules; village/pub/chippy only 10 mins walk; well cared for grounds; lots of wildlife-rabitts/ducks/geese/chickens; handy for Legoland and Thorpe park; general relaxed/friendly atmosphere.
Bad points: Heathrow aircraft noise; main toilet block closes for cleaning at 0930 hrs just as everyone wants to use it; owners not too fussy as to who they let on-we had a lady with 13 kids next to us(yes 13) for thankfully 1 night, surely more adults were needed?; shop too small.

It is the second time we have visited Highclere farm, the first being in August last year. We've just had a wonderful bank holiday weekend and didn't actually want to leave! The site is really well maintained and the toilets are immaculately clean. We were very impressed to see the owners have converted some stables into a few extra top of the range showers and toilets. They have also put in 3 additional washing up sinks and drainers since our last visit. The showers are 50 pence in the coverted stables with huge modern shower enclosures and power showers. Members of my party said they were worth paying the extra 30 pence for though the 20 pence showers in the original block are perfectly clean and modern.
The managment are friendly and helpful and the children's play area is fabulous - our children seemed to spend all weekend on it. There are currently football goals in the field we camped in last year and the kids on the campsite all enjoyed joining up and playing cricket and football together.
The only negative point I would raise is that dogs are allowed at the site and dog mess was a little bit of a problem. We objected to having to pick up someone else's dogs mess that we left just outside our trailer tent - though this is a criticism of the dogs owners not the campsite itself.
I would recommend this site and will definitely be returning again. There is lots to do around it, easy access to London and the surrounding area is beautiful.

This was our second visit to Highclere and it lived up to our previous visit. The facilities were spotless - showers are 20p but they also have new showers - 50p and toilets so you arent caught short when either are being cleaned - and they are worth 50p! Lovely safe site (if it werent for very irresponsible dog owners - see below) for the children and beautiful surroundings.
(Only downside - an ignorant Great Dane dog owner let their dog run wild on sunday morning (they were in bed and claimed they hadn't realised - he was out for over an hour with the rest of the site trying to find them!) and all of the children playing were scared silly and my son got slightly bit - long story - but if the owners of the campsite are reading - I love how laid back you guys are but maybe it comes at a price!)

We stayed here and found it to be one of the cleanest friendliest sites we stayed on. Close to Legoland and excellent links into London. The facilities were spotless and the staff extremely helpful. Lovely flat pitches! we stayed when everywhere else was flooding and this site was dry as a bone! will Definitely go again!

Just back after 4 nights at the back end of March, we were the only tent on site but its a big tent so we never felt too daft. This is a lovely site the tent fields are all flat with the odd picnic table dotted about. The shower blocks are warm clean and definitely amoungst the best we've seen. The kids were thrilled that the toilets had seats! (experience of france last year). My only gripe was that they were closed for cleaning at around 9.30 each day, which was a bit frustrating but I guess its the price you pay for making sure you can shower in comfort. The site is located in a nice village with some good pubs one of which serves breakfast from 8 till noon. There is Tesco about 10 mins drive away in Amersham and there is a really good camping shop next to it. We found the location brilliant for going into London. A drive to Chalfont & Latimer to pick up the tube, you can park all day for £2.50 then its £8 for an adult day pass, £1 for 11-15 and free for under 10's.
We didn't explore the local area too much as we went to London every day,we would like to go back in the warmer months and put that right.
Overall a nice site no negatives we will go back.
