Very well family run site, we have stayed many times over the last few years and always found them welcoming and friendly.
The site has good facilities and lovely walks all around.

Walking distance to the local amenities, nice and clean site, with great Covid secure practices in place, hard standing pitches made it difficult to peg down awning at caravan side as lots of small stones
Shop was closed to public on Saturday even though it states it is open till 4pm which was a shame as we wanted to purchase a couple of items

Management response: To be as COVID secure as possible for our customers visiting The Paddock and our staff we have restricted access to the shop this season.
All goods have been available from the 'new shop window' between the hours of 10 until 4 Monday to Saturday where staff have been on hand to bring goods from the shop to the customer as opposed to the normal browsing. |

This is a pleasant riverside site adjacent to Robsons Motorhome and Caravan Dealers. It has 18 Hardstanding pitches and 1 Grass one. We found it to be exactly what we were looking for in that particular area.
The H/S pitches have a grass strip adjacent for an awning with a tow car fitting across the top of the pitch. The site has a washing up area, Elsan and Waste water disposal area next to a small toilet block.
In view of C19 we didn't use the toilet area so I can't comment on that aspect. No Motorhome drive over waste water grid but they do supply 2 waste masters for them to empty into for disposal in the designated area.
There is a Spar shop in the small town, a better Co-Op in Stanhope, about 6 miles further down the valley and supermarkets in Bishop Auckland and Consett.
There's good cycling to be had using Consett as a base, a lot of them off road. There are several walking leaflets in the wash area left by local ramblers. You can catch a bus from outside the site to Stanhope or to Durham.
Dog walkers can exercise pooch by exiting the site, turn right to go past the dealers and turn right down an alleyway which leads to riverside paths.
A site we would happily use again if in the area.

We love this place we’re only half an hour away but it feels like we’re miles away and after being furloughed this was an amazing stay,
The only downside was not being able to access the WiFi.

A quiet location
Very clean and it was a short walk into the village for every thing you needed
We were given a map of some lovely walks along by the river or hill walking.
The only negative was we couldn't go into the farm shop to look around.

The only thing I could find fault with was the showers were not open but purely because of the Covid 19!
Lovely place, immaculately clean, loads of pitch room, close to the village, lots of walks and cycles.
Owner & staff were lovely, we’ve visited lots of sites and this ranks very close to the top and would have the top had the showers been open.
If you’re going ask for the riverside pitches as the others may experience a little road noise.

We spent the last day before the Covid lockdown at this excellent site.
Good facilities, excellent location and great access to Weardale, Teesdale and North Pennines.
Well worth a visit.
