Immaculately clean, well-placed site, but a few observations which spoil the experience somewhat and prompt reviews like this:
The wi-fi set-up is expensive, only lasts for a short time, and can only be accessed with password purchased during office opening hours. Most annoying when you're halfway though a film at 9pm and run out of memory! Why can't you just pay a flat sum (say £3) for unlimited access? Many sites do this.
There are far too many negative 'don't do this' warning notices around when you're there to relax.
The shower strength is weak - this has been noticed a couple of times. Why the complex time-clock system when most customers surely don't stay more than the prescribed six minutes?
|
Management response: WiFi - the data allowance is clearly explained at time of purchase and we monitor the usage , generally our customers purchase a couple of vouchers if they plan to spend their evenings watching films. We do refund any unused vouchers at the end of the stay.
For the benefit of all residents we do have some 'rules' such as no noise after 10.30pm, no ball games etc. We have been made aware that one mature couple on the site did use the washbasins in the shower block for doing their washing up and hence another sign went up! We are planning a separate washing up area for next season.
As we do try to be as environmentally friendly as possible we have put timers on the showers to conserve water and gas and we think that 6 minutes is an acceptable length of time. The shower tokens are free of charge and are left in the shower block for residents to help themselves.
We welcome any direct feedback and all customers are given a questionnaire when booking in. We have been able to monitor responses and make improvements to the site this way for the last 4 seasons. |

Another stay at this excellent little site.
This season they have added 8 new pitches and also a short footpath for direct access to the riverside.
Had a few beers in the Black Lion - great little pub.

This is great site that we use as a local getaway.
Always a friendly welcome.
Excellent base for Weardale and Hamsterley Forest.
Decent pubs and takeaways in town, as well as a good park for kids.

Lovely little site on the banks of the river Wear (although you cannot reach the river from the site). Nice new facilities.
Easy walk into the main village of Wolsingham for cafes, shops, bank, pubs and Italian restaurant. Great for visiting Weardale by car, bus or walking.

We've used this site a couple of times as it's close to home for a quick getaway.
Well located in within easy walking distance of Wolsingham main street. Excellent pubs, Italians, bakery and chippy in town. Great park and walks, either along the Wear or up onto the moors, right from the site. Regular bus runs through Weardale.
Friendly staff and well maintained pitches.
Excellent site.

This was our second visit to this site - ideal base for Weardale.
Lovely town within 5 minutes walk with decent pubs and an Italian restaurant.
Friendly welcome from the staff. No toilets and showers, but otherwise the facilities are great.

Visited the site for a weekend break it was great lovely staff and lovely clean site. Chemical disposal point undercover no showers but nearly all units have their own. A 5 minute walk into Woolsingham great pub and great fish and chip shop. Also just off the site is a lovely riverside walk which my two labs loved swimming in the river all in all this little site is a gem and for £15 inc electric was great

This is a relatively new site right in the centre of Wolsingham.
Really friendly staff at the adjacent motorhome dealership.
Good pubs, cafe and Italians within 5 minutes walk.
Nice riverside walks, and well based for Stanhope and Hamsterley Forest.

A lovely well-kept site in a delightful village with lots of surrounding places worth a visit.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Once a shower and toilet block is in place the site will be even better and suit a wider group of visitors. This is being carried out over the winter in time for the start of the 2017 season.
It's definitely one on our the list for the future.
