Very long or heavy units avoid the road from Linlithgow as it is steep and twisting, approach the site from Bathgate.
Beecraigs is doggie heaven miles of woodland walk. The site only has a limited number of pitches in groups of six offering reasonable separation.
Toilet blocks, 2 are clean quite modern and the main block has dishwash and laundry (tokens). Reception is at the restaurant near the entrance where the staff are helpful if not busy.
I can recommend this site to any dog owner especially off peak.

Let me start by saying that I endorse other comments about the heath robinson reception in the time warp restaurant. The park seriously needs to review its customer service profile.
But having said that the lovely surroundings and peace and quiet make up for it. Pitches not the best and if its wet you're awning will get grubby from the cinder hardstanding splashing up and the sap off the trees coming down. Be warned if you like sunlight then this is not the place for you, it really is quite dark in places around the pitches.
Shower block very well kept and really roomy individual shower rooms with sink and toilet.
Used restaurant once, it was ok. We went to Linlithgow to the supermarket and for take aways otherwise.
Abundance of walking across the country park, great outdoor play for children. Park open to the public at all times so teenagers hanging around in the evening at the play area. Also there was a function at the restaurant on the Saturday night with a very loud disco. Not a secure site at all.
Won't be visiting again but if you like wildlife and generally peace and quiet then this is the place for you.

As has been said by many before, the approach road to this site is a nightmare. The local authority might want to have a look at these speed bumps if they're serious about attracting vans. I probably won't go back almost on that point alone.
The site itself is ok but wastelands of cleared tress did not endear it to me. They've obviously tried to make the whole thing a bit more homely by grouping pitches into little clusters and to some extent it works but the pitches themselves become very muddy and gritty during heavy rain - not helpful.
On the plus side, the toilets have to be amongst the best I've come across. Individual cubicles are huge and give lots of privacy. Also clean.
There are nearby walks through the woods which are fine if a bit on the samey side.
Didn't use the restaurant but the menu looked quite decent and prices not unreasonable.

Well most points have been covered in other reviews here. The lack of a sole camp site reception is a down. If late (office down the hill works 9-5) pick up keys from restaurant and they are not always open. A good rap on the door got attention but hardly a welcome. They give you a map and mark your pitch. The 'petal' pitches are in cleared woodland so all around looks rather apocalyptic but the park is much bigger than the camp site with many other activities. Cinder and aggregate hardstandings are fine when dry but hopeless when wet and slow to dry. All other facilities A.OK and if your van has freeview there's a good signal from Edinburgh.
Fabulous view of the Forth and it's docks and bridges from a viewpoint next to the restaurant. Also handy for a good mobile signal. The speedbumps up that hill are really OTT. And cars show little patience as vans and campervans slow to take them. Linlithgow has all facilities and you can do city visits by rail or bus if the mood or weather takes you.
A good starting point if you've driven or flown up from London or points between to hire a van as we did in Scotland.

A great site. A number of pitches (with hook-up's) arranged in semi-circles and set in a conifer plantation. The site is part of a large public park on a hill two and a half miles S of Linlithgow. Plenty of room, good facilities (toilets, showers, water, waste disposal, wash-up, laundry, BBQ's etc). Very reasonably priced. Showers comprise several individual wet rooms, complete with toilet, wash basin, mirror, hair drier and heating. Everything clean and in good condition, well heated and plenty of hot water.
Trails and walks through woodland, with great views of the countryside. There is also a deer farm
A restaurant is located on the site, providing friendly service.
Camp site (for tents) is on a significant slope!

We stayed here for one night to test our first caravan.
All the pitches are arranged in fans of 6 hard standing pitches just big enough for the caravan and the car.
The site was very quiet, our fan was full after we arrived but the rest of the fans only had one van in them.
The toilet/shower block was very clean and modern with separate individual shower rooms with toilet, sink and shower. You need to punch a number ot get in.
There is a restaurant on the edge of the site. We did not try it but have been told it is OK for the money but the views are fantastic - you can see right across the forth past the bridges.
We had our two dogs with us - as did everyone else on site it appeared - and there were plenty of woodland walks to take them out and about.
However, the tow up to the site from the town of Linlithgow is all up hill, steep at times and very twisty. There are spped bumps for the first mile of the uphill section too so getting up any speed is a no-no. Not ideal for our first time out towing a caravan.
Overall we were very happy with the site.

A good campsite having all of the type of facilities offered by the Caravan Club sites, but at a much lower price off-season. 16 amp hookups plus all hardstandings. Heated toilet blocks with all in one rooms including shower, toilet & sink plus free hairdryer. In addition, they offer a 10% discount for pre-paid stays in low season. Very high up, with stunning views over the Forth estuary & Bridge. Well protected from the high winds common to the area by mature trees & forest. Close to Linlithgow with stunning palace. Sainsburys & Aldi 10 minute drive. Restaurant on site (which looked very plastic & modern), but appeared well visited by locals. I have been concise & honest as concerns the good aspects (which are very creditable).
Downsides are that hardstandings (in 'petal' like groves with 6 pitches within each) sit surrounded by large encroaching trees which will hit your outfit with at best heavy dripping water at times of rain, or small branches and pine cones at worst. Not conducive to a brilliant nights sleep (although we were in Alder Grove which appeared possibly the worst). Alder Grove also has the misfortune to allow no sunlight in at all due to the massive & encroaching tree surrounds.
Also, there are some sloping pitches, our allocated pitch (Alder 5) seemed the worse (which surprised me in light of the fact that we had paid in advance & requested a flat pitch). The slope was so bad that we had to use the raised kerb at the rear of the pitch to plant the rear corner steadies, leaving the front hitch only inches from the ground. It also seems that tents would get a very poor deal from this campsite (grass pitches being almost as expensive as a caravan with electricity, but perhaps this is down to grass maintenance). My biggest moan was that we left a day early because of dangerous high winds forecast for the following day and requested that that one day be refunded (as we had already stayed for 7 days). We were told no, which we thought extremely ungracious and ungrateful considering our patronage. Unwise too, as I now am unlikely to return on a matter of principle.
In short, a good site with good facilities but don't book in advance or you could end up with the short straw as concerns your pitch (if our experience was anything to go by).

When we visited the site was almost deserted. There were no other tents apart from ours and all in all this made for a really nice stay. We could talk till the early hours with no fear of disturbing anyone.
The camping pitch is on a slight slope and I can imagine the showers etc would be quite crowded if there were lots of other people.
The ladies shower is much much much nicer than the gents which is small, dark, cramped and you have to keep pushing a button every few seconds or the water stops. Contrast this to the ladies which is a nice big room, with two showers in and there are no buttons to press - just turn it on and enjoy a nice hot power shower, there are seats to put things on, in fact much much more pleasant than the gents, so much in fact as there was no-one else around we all used it (with the consent of the lady in our party of course!)
Check in was okay, the girl on the desk needs to work on her maths as she tried to charge us more than double, but apart from this really nice indeed.
It is about a 20minute drive to the Edinburgh P&R and very easy to find.
Overall excellent (apart from the gents shower), although I would imagine in a busy period, maybe not so.

We visited after 2 days heavy rain and the site was rather wet despite the sun being out. Camping was in a clearing in the forest and so didn't dry well. Small area for tents with separate car park adjacent so everything had to be carried a short distance to the pitch. Small shower block which was fairly new. Block was really warm, allowing people to dry their wet clothes. Different feel to most sites we have been to; large reception building which was holding a wedding - I had to pass the bride and groom waiting to make their big entrance as I went to book in. Several smaller areas spread around the forest, most areas were for caravans.
2 minute drive into Linlithgow which has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants (but it is down a huge hill so we weren't willing to cycle it!)

In our 35 plus years of camping and caravanning, this ranks as the worst site we have ever had the misfortune to stay at. We really do not like leaving a less than glowing report. On arrival, during advertised opening hours with a prebooked pitch and an arrival time, reception was deserted. After 10 minutes waiting we decided to ask in the restaurant, they were totally unhelpful and told us to 'go away and come back in half and hour'. We pointed out the car and caravan parked and asked her where we should go with that for half an hour, she turned her back and disappeared never to be seen again.
We took the opportunity to walk round the site, even though we had been driving for over 8 hours. The pitches are laid out in a pattern like petals. Well one area was occupied by what looked like Travellers , one area was near derelict with weeds 5ft high, one area seemed to be reserved for the on site warden (who apparently worked 9-5 at the saw mill). This left two areas for caravans, the hardstandings were small and cramped. On our return to reception we were kept waiting a further 15 minutes, to be booked in by an ill informed young lady. The site rules were thrown on the desk in front of us and her exact phrase was 'Read these now' and we also were told if we put up an awning we will be told to take it down. This was a total load of nonsense as we had paid in advance for hardstanding and awning was included. When we finally managed to pitch, we got chatting to the other visitors, who all had similar stories to tell.
Finally we had a real problem getting our fiver deposit for the hook-up back, reception deserted again. To be constructive, this site needs Management. The staff are untrained and surly, the warden needs to be on site during the day, the place needs a good clean up.
The facilities were of good standard, unfortunately totally let down by a lack of management, leaving junior staff to handle situations outside their competence without any supervision.
