Site was clean and generally tidy, shower/toilet block was well stocked and maintained. Washing up unit was 2 sinks, although ample hot water, for the size of the site they need more sinks.

A big plus was that there was a freezer available to refreeze ice blocks, a necessity if you do not have EHU.

Riverside setting was superb, the dogs liked that.

Site was very noisy first thing in the morning (6.00am) as the moto cross riders made their way to wherever, but that is not the sites fault.

There were some nice pubs in the town which is easily walk able and we never had a poor meal in terms of value and quality. There was a butcher (really good) and a local bakers.

Lots of walks, mostly by water, so the dogs were happy.

This is the most beautiful campsite. I have been visiting here every year since I was born and I'm 37 now. I never get bored of the place. The nearby town of Rhayader is not what it use to be, there is lots of unwanted people on the evening that the council has decided to move into the town so keep away at night. Other than that its great. Prices keep creeping up though :(

As one member said above, keep your kids away from the river when it's raining or been raining further up river as it quickly becomes dangerous and swollen. Just keep your eyes on the kids as people have drowned on this river.

The facilities are great for what we need although the site itself could benefit from a play area for little ones.

The nearby Ellan valley is beautiful and the fishing is great too.

I'd like to put you all off so I can have this place to myself but I suppose I better tell you all it's well worth a visit.

The road never bothers me but some visitors get a bit rowdy on the night.

Just returned from a great stay at this site. Tent field is large and mostly level. Lovely site on the river bank. The toilets and showers are clean with plenty of hot water. Laundry and freezer available. Friendly helpful staff. Was some road noise but not excessive during the night, certainly didn't keep me awake and I'm a light sleeper. Normal campsite buzz but all quiet by midnight at the very latest.

Lovely village just a short walk away, lots of little shops, Spar, pubs, leisure centre, take-away's etc. No playground in site, but as it has a public park next door this isn't a problem. Most of the kids seemed happy to be playing in the river.

Lots of places to visit nearby, Elan Valley, Devils Bridge Falls, Gigrin Farm to name but a few.

Would definitely visit again.

Visited here as a late night drop-in on the way to Aberystwyth. Greeted in a very business like manner, but then I was a weary traveller and the chap in charge was probably powering down for the night. My initial impression (it was dark after all) was that this was a great pull-up, hook-up, cook-up, sleep, wake up, cook up, wash up, unhook, go! Sort of park.

The motorhome pitches were tarmac and within very close proximity to the toilet blocks. The showers were very clean, hot and free. The sound of the river babbling by was restful and set us off to snoozeland nicely. There were one or two apprentice Lewis Hamiltons practising on the nearby road during the night but generally a restful stay.

Then morning broke and. Wow! What a revelation! The river looked so clean and picturesque. An early morning stroll revealed a spacious camping field and a warm greetings from obviously regular visitors to this little sliver of peace sandwiched between a narrow but busy road and a lovely water-kissed woodland.

Definitely worth another visit, if I get the opportunity.

This is a favourite site of ours - very clean well kept facilities, good hot showers, ample toilets / showers etc. Separate areas for tents / statics / tourers.
The best thing about this site is it's location. Short walk into the pretty and friendly village from the site. Also situated on the banks of the River Wye with an absolutely beautiful walk up the other side of the river, cross the river via a small bridge. Good for children too, adjacent to a park area.
Visited first some 36 years ago, still happy to return, had a lovely few nights stay there, will be returning again!

I visted Wyeside on September 5th, my second visit to the site, and it cost £7 for a tent.

It is a flat field off the A470 beside the river, about half a mile from the centre of Rhayader. At the time it was not busy, with a range of tents and camper vans, and electrical hookup points for those who need them. The caravan park is on a separate part of the site. The site is very well-kept, with friendly staff, neatly trimmed grass and a good toilet block. The nuthatches and grey wagtails along the riverside were a nice extra.

The town of Rhayader has some good pubs.

What a cracking little site, very well kept next to a small rocky river, it boasts a modern shower block that is kept clean and tidy. It can be quite a lively camp but all was quiet come midnight.
This secure site is set in a sheltered area on the outskirts of the pleasant town of Rhayader, shops and the numerous pubs are just a few minutes walk away.
There are a few EHU's which can be pre booked otherwise its first come first served. This is a popular site and it soon fills up so early arrival is essential to secure a place.
This is an excellent above average campsite and I would certainly use it again.

Great site, made welcome on arrival and we managed to get a pitch right next to the river, which was great for the kids to play in.  Be careful though if there's been a lot of rain, I'd imagine the flow could be quite fast.
Toilets and showers superb and kept clean even though the site was full.
Noise wasn't a problem - just the normal campsite buzz.  Nearby road was virtually impossible to hear from where we were.
Easy walk into the town and the kids play ground nearby is excellent.
Would definitely return to this one.

Used this site on many occasions over the years and keep returning. The site is owned and run by the council, the warden Keith is a nice chap and very helpful in all respects. Most of the Tourers are situated close to the statics along a short track. To the Right of the road grass pitches to the left of the road hard standings these back onto the river with the rear of the caravan overlooking the water. A small grass area along the bank behind your caravan is available and is nice in the warm weather. Another area is available mostly grass at the end of the track near a river beach. However beware it does get boggy in wet weather down there. There is some road noise as the site is adjacent to the main road however we do not find it too bad. Toilet block is OK although not up to modern standards IMHO. Children love the place so don't go if you don't like kids being kids. There is a tent field ( I have seen caravans use it on rare occasions). Close to town. Leisure centre is good with a good pool. Check out Elan Valley. Location 7/10 site 7/10 area 10/10. Toilet Block needs modernising although it is clean and everything works fine.

Arriving on this site was a breath of fresh air after where we had come from, we have 4 kids aged 9,8,4,and 1 and as we were setting up were helped by 2 men across from us and helped us with the awning, a lot of caravans seamed to be empty and left there long term, but the site was clean, the slate on the floor the kids loved finding different bits. The park was excellent but to far to lets kids go and play could do with a little one in caravan area but mostly couples and older people
The river was a great attraction for all our kids and my partner who raced down to the showers in the rain that was our only down side of this site the weather couldn't do any thing ,the village was close by and had everything you would need, and swimming pool was a good price £5.80 for a family ticket don't pay under 5, showers on site very clean and hot laundry good and clean although didn't use ,would def go back for a weekend with no kids
to take in the sights and walks.
