Lovely site, laid back, option for late stay which we took up so tent could dry out, showers & loos clean n tidy, free hairdryer and plugs for the straighteners! Road noise no problem and site noise fine - just the usual let your hairdown stuff that wasn't intrusive - if only I had the stamina! Paddling in the river a must and little 'un had an intro to fishing too! Shops & family pub etc within easy walking distance + pool / leisure centre as well. we'll be back!

This is the third time that we have visited this site and we found the facilities up to the usual standard. The toilets and site are kept clean and well maintained even when the site is very busy. The only problem with this site is the noise on Saturdays nights. It seems that this site perhaps is the destination for groups of people from the midlands who arrive for one night and their main target is to get drunk and party all night. This site is excellent from Sunday to Friday but give it a miss on a Saturday.

Beautiful site, camping field level with river running along one side. l Short walk into town from bottom of field and plenty of pubs and an assortment of shops and leisure centre. Facilities excellent and immaculately clean with no extra charges. Only downside is that traffic is a bit noisy but as we live in a town we are used to that anyway. Lots to see and do - the Elan Valley is close, and the red kite feeding centre. It's definitely on our list to go back to next year.

July 2005 First time at this site and sorry to say it will be the last. This site would be great except for the location - its next to the busy main road and we were kept awake most nights by the sound of the traffic. If you don’t mind that then you would really enjoy it here and the couple running the site are very friendly and helpful. We came away a day early just to escape the noise - which was a shame as the Elan Valley is spectacular.

First time tenting with my family and what a great weekend it was. We arrived with friends on Friday evening we could not get a hook up which was disappointing but when we saw the site it made up for that. Very level site great river which we swam in, park felt very safe. Very clean toilet block and what really made it was the weather 27 degrees each day ... the only downside , a small minority of grumpy people who made us feel a little unwelcome, but the vast majority of the locals were very nice.

Lovely clean site, very impressed.
We were able to book, and the guy running it was very happy to help. My only moan was that there was a lovely field with elec hook ups that we only discovered the day after we arrived, and it's a shame we were not put on there, but instead were right next to the busy road...
Made no difference to us, but might have been nicer to be right by the river etc, instead of looking out onto a road one side and static caravans on the other.
Other than that - can't fault it, clean, cheap, free (hot!) showers and beautiful scenery just down the road in the Elan Valley!

My family used this site for our first ever camping adventure after being recommended it by other UKCS members. I would wholeheartedly agree with the previous very positive reviews.
This was the ideal first camping experience. Lovely site with good clean facilities, which seemed to be being cleaned every time I went in, plus reasonably priced at £12 a night for family of four. Kids (11 & 12)loved playing in the river. Local sports centre also kept the kids amused with swimming, snooker & table tennis at very good prices. Lovely cream teas at Carole's teashop in the town!
Only disadvantage is that you cannot advance book a tent pitch, its a case of turn up and hope there is space. As long as you turn up early you should be fine, but it did get very crowded.
Would definitely be happy to recommend it.

Great site, right next to river Wye (keep an eye on children, fast flowing river after night of rain). Cheap as well, £4.50 a night for adults, £1.50 for kid's, and that's during bank holiday! Fantastic scenery in Elan Valley resevoir. Small village (Rhayader) with spar, pubs, bike hire, leisure centre. Will definetely be going back. Paradise for walker's and mountain bike rider's or even if like to take it easy. Village playground next to tent's area (tents, statics and tourers all seperated from each other). Showers, hot water for sinks all spotless and free (not like some other sites) Highly recommended!

A lovely little spot, well maintained very clean and friendly. My only minor moan is the fact that im a light sleeper and camp site is quite close to the main road (470), which tends to have a lot of heavy traffic passing by at all hours. However the area does make up for it and the Elan Valley is a must visiting place. We will be returning to this site again later in the year... can't wait.

A wonderful site with all the basic facilities that one could wish for and immacuately maintained and cleaned. The warden was very friendly and helpful. Gorgeous settings right on the river bank and yet only 5 minutes walk into the town of Rhayader, which has an ample supply of pubs and fast food outlets, despite it's small size. One drawback... they don't have all those rivers in Wales for no reason...prepare for a soaking at any time of the year.
