A very quiet site for tent camping. The small separate field for tents is not too far from the ablution block, which is more than adequate for a light weight camper. Furthermore, it is very close to the Dee River Way, ideal for cyclists and walkers! The nearest large supermarket is accessible by an off-road cycle path without crossing the Queensferry Road, making this site ideal for any cycle camper. The charge per person of £5, including one shower token, is very reasonable. Membership of the Caravan Club is not required for tent campers.

If you want a quiet CL near Chester then cannot recommend this one too highly, its brilliant.
CL field is large, so large we were at least 50 ft from our nearest neighbour. Loads of space for 5 units to be well away from each other. All pitches on grass but ground very firm (even in the downpours this weekend). All pitches have ehu, there is fresh water, chemical disposal and grey water dumps. The toilets and showers are more than adequate for a CL, good water pressure, hot water and very clean. The building isnt a purpose built block but I really couldn't fault it for the price you are paying at £13 per night.
The site is about a 1/4 mile from Sealand Road, you can catch buses into Chester from there, or its about a 3-4 mile walk on the flat with good paths all the way. Likewise its an easy cycle with a cycle path clearly marked off the road.
In the other direction you can ride up the lane onto the Dee cycle path. This then goes into Chester (several miles of cycle paths all around the city) or head towards the Dee Marshes and from there either North Wales or the Wirral. The Wirral route is again off road and takes you up to New Kirkby.
We found the site really quiet and peaceful, there is no road noise. The owner was friendly and helpful, we saw him cleaning facilities daily and he was available at the farmhouse or any questions etc.
A really excellent CL which we would not hesitate to use again.

My wife & I stayed at Thornleigh Park Farm campsite during the last week of June; the campsite is a small paddock at the rear of the Caravan Park for Caravan Club members only. The owner was very friendly & helpful.
The campsite only as four pitches, apart from three nights when there was just one other tent; we were the only tent so very peaceful indeed. The site would have been extremely cramped if all four pitches were occupied with family tents.
The facilities block was shared with the Caravan park, the facilities were a little old, but having said that that were always spotlessly clean & everything worked, plenty of hot water, two showers in both ladies & gents, the showers are operated by token giving six minutes for 40p. But considering the pitch fee’s are only £13 per night including EHU, so excellent value for money.
Thornleigh Park is well positioned with Chester City being only a very short distance away. At the top of Ferry Lane you are able the catch the Park & Ride into the city & the river Dee is only a few hundred yards down Ferry Lane, with a footpath along side the river into Chester.
I would only re-visit this site during the low season, during the school holidays the site may become over crowded; we are campers of many years & appreciate a reasonable amount of space.
In conclusion the site is excellent value for money.

Just back from an amazing weekend at this wonderful site, we where so relaxed we didn't want to go home. Just a short park and ride into Chester, which is only about a 10 min walk from site but it does have a car park. The toilet block was spotless and at 40p for a token for the shower which last 6 mins was more than reasonable. We will definitely be going back to this wonderful site. A taxi back from Chester to the campsite is only £6 so is great if you have a meal and a few drinks, purely to help with the relaxation.

This was our first ever outing in a van and we chose wisely while visiting Chester.
The area is quiet and in beautiful surroundings. The owner is pleasant man who enjoyed a chat. The toilet facilities are a little jaded but do the job ok. Didn't use the shower as we have our own but looked ok.
Very convenient for Park n Ride into Chester where we treated ourselves to a Cream Tea for wife's birthday at the Grosvenor. Height of indulgence and worth every penny.
In short for a quiet stay in Cheshire ideal but not really for kids as little to do as far as I could see. Would happily stay again.

Visited for a three night stay but ended up as two because of the threat of heavy snow so we reluctantly came home early! Lovely quiet site but very handy for the park and ride to Chester. Facilities are good if a bit tired but suited us fine! Agree with earlier comment about the road leading up to the site, it is a bit bumpy so take your time! Owners great, very helpful and friendly, we ordered some rib eye steak from them. Good price and very nice indeed! We will be back later in the year and taking the bikes to try out the river Dee path into Chester.

We specifically chose this site under the impression it was adults only (double checked when telephone booking), however the adults section apparently only applies to a small scrub of land reserved for tents - approx. 4 pitches.
Unaware of this caveat we turned up expecting a nice, quiet weekend only to have to endure the squeaking and crying of four kids stationed opposite us. So, beware this site is very much NOT AN ADULT ONLY - not unless you wish to spend all day in the tiny camping field to the rear of the site. Anyway the noise from the kids was simply a nuisance and we decided we had had enough after only 2 nights.
On the plus side, the site is very close to Chester - about 2. 5 miles to the centre. The site is secluded - the patch allocated for tents is tiny and best avoided although the larger field for caravans etc. Is a very nice location.
Toilets/showers are basic but clean - only one sink and one toilet in gents - would imagine summer could be very busy, but September was ok.
All in all a good site, but certainly not a peaceful, adults only site

A gem of a site.
Main points are:
Although Site is Camping club this only applies to caravans and tourers and not for tents.
Very clean
Quiet and family friendly (we didn't have children with us but did see Children playing in the main camping club field). No children's play frames or swings which didn't appear a problem.
Flat pitches
Electric hook up if required
Hot showers.
Toilet and Shower areas cleaned regularly and always have fresh loo rolls and paper towels available.
Really good value for money at £12 per night with EHU. The best value in the area.
Very close to the River Dee with fantastic cycle paths to Chester and Connahs Quay.
5 minutes from Park and Ride if wish to visit Chester. Cost is £1. 75 each return but you have to have correct money.
Extremely helpful owners who provide you with a map of the area and tokens for the showers.
The washing up area is inside.
Views are beautiful.
Will definitely be using this site again, almost a shame to let everyone into our little secret.

Lovely site, clean toilets/showers and only 40p for 6mins shower! Although grass pitches it was good hard ground.
Large retail park 2 miles away, plenty stores etc.
Park n Ride nearby £1. 70 return to Chester city.
Tarmac path for walking/biking to Chester, 3 miles beside river Dee.
Excellent biking routes from site.
Will definitely return.
Visited Chester zoo (4 miles), cheshire oaks is 8 miles away.
Had afternoon tea at Oddfellows, finger sandwiches, cakes and a scone (lovely)
Red lion pub in Chester was nice, didn't eat there but it looked reasonable.

This site is in a great location - easily found and close to Chester.
We arrived and were directed to the tent field - child free - where we found a flat pitch and put the tent up. The camping field is a bit hap-hazard with the pitches not very clearly marked and some areas are decidedly not flat.
The facilities on the site are clean and functional but have clearly been around for a while.
This is a mixed-use farm, with liveried horses being exercised in an outdoor menage next to the camping field, a caravan field - which does allow children - and a working farm with cattle grazing, so there is plenty going on!
We walked into Chester along the River Dee and it was a pleasant walk and the town itself is lovely.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, the owners are very friendly and helpful in terms of directions to all life's necessities and the pitch costs were the most reasonable we had this year!
We hope to visit the area again and would certainly return to this site.
