Really pleased with our stay at Thornleigh park, the owner was very helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Gave us a map of surrounding areas with all essential information.
Site is flat and well maintained. Nice quiet location toilet block kept very clean.
Nice walking along the river Dee in both directions in walking distance from site really enjoyable days.
Near to Chester town and 8 miles via sat nav to Cheshire oaks (don't know how I got there but the sat nav did)

Yet another brilliant stay at Thornleigh.
Peter the owner is very accommodating & will help with anything he can.
The site is a very quiet peaceful location yet only a short drive away to the city of Chester or North Wales.
Peter also sells his meat which is a must at great prices.
The toilets are always spotless & clean.
This site is our favourite & we won't be visiting any other site at all.
Where else can you go & pay £9 including a full awning with electrics? Plus there was 4 of us with 3 dogs! I doubt anywhere would beat this place.
Keep up the good work Peter, you really are a star.

Just got back from thornleigh. If you like the peace and quiet this is the site for you.
Site is surrounded by trees. Very secluded. Toilets & showers are spotless. Owner, peter is very helpful. They also sell meat at the farm and the prices and the meat are very good.
Great for cycling or walking. If you turn right when you leave the site it takes you down to the river dee. When you reach the river dee (about3\4 mile) you turn left onto a foot / bike path that takes you into chester about two & half miles.
Great base for exploring north wales.
If you go to west kirby on the wirral you can walk across to one of the islands when the tides out. Make sure you get the tide times or you will get stuck on the island.
A great day out for children of 5,6,7 years or older is the Sun Centre at rhyll. It's a swimming baths with everything. Waves, surfing, slides, you name it it's got it. It costs £7.95 to get in, but you will be in for the day.
If you need any help just ask peter he's very helpful.
It costs £8.50 with awning. We will be going back soon.

A very nice site, flat and well drained, good facilities. The lane up to the site is a little bumpy, but not bad. It's easy to find, Ferry Lane is opposite the Vauxhall car sales 'Lookers', and you can't go wrong with the lane to the site, on the right just before 2 houses. Don't turn into the static caravan site, it's the next turn right after that.
If you want a pub with cheap (2 for £6.99) bar food, Sky and Setanta sports on TV, try the Egerton Arms which is on the road from Blacon to Saughall. Also has a pool table.

Just got back from a weekend visit to this lovely little site. The field designated for caravans is immaculate. The toilets and showers were always spotlessly clean. There is a separate field for tents which I suspect has been reduced in size as there is some building work being carried out on the adjacent field. This work can be noisy during the day if you stay on site but the site was very quiet at night. Easy access to the Chester Park and Ride and the A55 to N Wales. There is a riverbank cycle path from Connah's Quay (about 5 miles) to Chester (about 2.5 miles). Access is down the road at the footbridge where the ancient ferry used to cross. I would definitely use this site again.

Nice, quiet campsite close to Chester City Centre (2 miles), which can be reached by Park & Ride (10 minutes walk from campsite) and also a service bus opposite the Park & Ride (No. 10) which runs til 11.00 p.M. We chose this campsite as we were visiting Tatton Flower Show and wanted to combine it with a visit to Chester. We stayed for 4 nights and we also went to Conwy (40 miles) and Llangollen (25 miles), both places I would highly recommend. The castle at Conwy is fantastic and if you like walking, the Llangollen History Trail is a very scenic walk of 6 miles. The campsite itself is very basic (no facilities other than shower/toilet block, but this is kept extremely clean at all times). The site itself is very flat and surrounded by trees, with lots of squirrels and rabbits roaming about. As it wasn't a particularly busy period (just before the school holidays), the owner let us pitch our tent in the main part of the field, as the tent area is quite small. The owners are very friendly and on arrival provide you with shower tokens and a map of the local area and will answer any queries you may have. The site is also very close (2 minutes drive) to a large Retail Park with Pizza Hut, Cineworld, Franky & Bennys, Next, B&Q, Halfords and many more places to eat and shop. Morrisons Supermarket is just a couple of minutes further on. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Thornleigh Park Farm, even though we had torrential rain on our last night so we didn't get much sleep! On the downside, there are no plug points on site and also no hooks to hang any clothing in the toilet/shower block. There is also nowhere to wash any pots so we had to use the sink in the shower block. This is only my personal opinion and as it doesn't advertise that they have these facilities on the website, I shouldn't have expected them! I would recommend this site to people who want a small, quiet site close to Chester.

Lovely site for 5 caravans and separate small area for tents. Loads of space in the caravan area for the kids to run about, toilets and showers kept clean. There was a powercut one morning so the owner fired up his generator so we all still had electric. Park n Ride only 10 mins walk away from the site - 10 minute bus ride into the centre. Big retail park next to park n ride with Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny's etc to eat and plenty of big name stores if you want to shop. Will be going back again soon.

Absolutely brillant place to stay on the outskirts of Chester. Very central to everywhere you may want to go. The campsite is a lovely quiet location, surrounded by trees & a horse livery next door. The toilets & showers are lovely & clean & are kept spotless at all times. The owners are really nice & helpful should you need anything. Plenty of rabbits in the fields & lots of squirrels too. This was our second visit & we will be going back again in 2007. There was 4 of us camping in our tent which is a separate small field from the caravans along with our 3 dogs. Plenty of walks to take your dogs. Highly recommend this site to all.

March 2005 I have just come back today 14-03-05 from this very lovely quiet site. It has a very good coral style oval area for 5 vans all with link up, it is an aquestrian centre, it is 2 miles from the centre of chester. BUT all the big shops are within 1/2 a mile of the site - Boots, Matalan, Next, BMW, Mercedes, Vauxhall, B&Q, Kwik save, Argos, Halfords, Audi and lots lots more - ideal for shopping.

This site is a Caravan Club CL, which means it can only be used by CC members.
This site is 10 mins walk from the park and ride into the city of Chester , it's ideal for a weekend. Has electric hook ups and a new purpose built toilet and shower block. Location is very quiet the field being well off the main road. The only draw back, a long rough track into the field which I was told was to be repaired
